Hi Izzy. Great reaction! Ren said that he wrote this song in 2015 so he sat on it for 7 years. To learn what the Pig mask represents for Ren, look for a video named Ren Reveals The Meaning Behind The Pig Mask. It's a 2-minute clip from his interview with Zach Sang.
Love melding with your mind. Deep thinker, deep thoughts. Funny how Ren evokes such things in us. I don’t think that’s normal. He’s a very unique artist. So happy to have him in my life. You are a tractor who I always look forward to in this Ren journey. You’re real. You tell it like it is from you specific perspective. Keep it up. I like your own stuff as well!
Reactor not tractor lol! Spell check is a curse and a blessing. Ren Genesis quote. I find myself quoting Ren lyrics all day long! What is wrong with me???
Thank you for another wonderful reaction. No acoustic version of this, Izzy. I have a Depeche Mode album, their first I think... No! Their second album with the scythe cover. They used bells like the start of this. Did you catch the reference to Django Reinhart? I think that Romain introduced Ren to that legendary guitarist. "To all those who seek" is a clear reference to a spiritual journey. If Ren was a Buddhist he would be called a Bodhisattva, if a Hindu he would be an avatar. I see him as a musical messiah and I make no apologies for that identification.
Thanks! For me, Depeche Mode get better with age, some of their work in the 90s and 2000s is some of the best. And even to this day each new album has at least a couple of great songs. I missed the Django reference.
For a long time his ambitions and dreams were held captive by his illness. His real start was brought to him a little later due to this. Maybe that would give the hunger to emerge full force into life after knowing how precious time is. By the way I also love Depeche Mode.
Hope you're well friend. Love listening to your ponderings on life. You could read all the books and know all that has been scribed, yet still be none the wiser. Cheers mate
Epistemic humility? Nicely phrased, sir! About "integrating the shadow"... That process is not without dangers, since the darkness is not feeble at all. But we do need more warriors in this garden
Another awesome reaction. Thank you! Definitely checking out the Depeche Mode video! I used to listen to them years ago. Time to revisit. Just for fun, you might enjoy reading the lyrics to The Hunger. Ren packs SO much into this one! Hope you are well 🙋♀️💖
That damn pig! Ren once said he enjoyed leaving it up to people to decide the meaning for themselves. Though, later, I believe, he has said it represents greed in various aspects. My favorite Ren rhyme: Frankie Sinatra with King Arthur. Also----I want that New Wave jacket . . .
Another lovely reaction thanks!💥 I think the pig head on a stick is a reference to the book Lord of the Flies. In the lyrics Ren says "I'm a demon, I am Devil" in the book the boys put a pig head on a stick as an offering to the beast which was called Lord of the Flies by the author aka Beelzebub, or the Devil. The beast is not something that can be killed because it exists inside all humans. That's my little insight or opinion😁
Great reaction rens the man - check out - first time pentatonix/ Marcelito pomoy/ Kasey chambers ( amazing) - you will not be disappointed love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I absolutely love your take on lyrics and how well you are able to connect them to your circumstances and break them down so properly. I will say though, is there absolutely anywau to jave you mic not be so dang good that we can hear you swallowing and the salva moving around in your mouth 🥺 I want tonwatch all of your reactions
10:00 Exactly. Socrates said that this framework is the beginning of wisdom. Some of us are born with a question in our mouths. I love Seeker or Believer? Thanks for your work.
Definitely the deepest take on this song I’ve seen anyone do. Interesting thought that if you are a Master of something you are no longer questioning and thinking. That has me pondering. I am considered a master at my craft (photography) and I find myself in two states. Shooting and Not Shooting. When I am shooting I am not thinking but shooting on instinct and only when asked why can I give reasons as to the thinking behind the vision. Then there is the non shooting times when you think and question for deeper insight into the message you are trying to convey in images you want to create. So maybe there is no true mastery where you no longer question but either an arrogance where you no longer listen or a quest to always be moving forward even in the direction itself remains unclear. You have me thinking :) Good stuff mate.
Thanks, mate! Some good insights there and you have me thinking also. Great stuff! Following our curiosity, balanced with some kind of structure and discipline is the best way forward as far as I can tell right now.
Depeche Mode ~ Enjoy The Silence was my favourite song from them 🫶 My brother, 14 years older then me was a DJ so i was into all that from i was a kid. He bought me my first record player at 10, my first 2 singles, requested by me were Blancmange ~ Don't Tell Me and Tears For Fears ~ Mad World 🥰

Funny...as SOON as you mentioned the Bruce Lee quote (that I hadn't heard before) I thought "I'd rather be a gardener in a war" instead of a warrior in a garden. Hear me out...as it turns out I have a knack for growing plants of many types with zero training and no land of my own. I'd say "I'm a natural" so..in times of war (especially in an apocalyptic scenario) those with knowledge of GROWING FOOD would be HIGHLY revered as an ABSOLUTE necessity. Therefore, in a place of ultimate security and (possibly) power. The "warriors in the garden" would be useful as protectors and the heavy lifters. Interesting quote. Love your content.
Thanks! I would hope so Lou, but in an apocalyptic scenario, depending who survived the food growers may well become commodities and slaves to the most tyrannical kinds of people.
Hi **Izzy** I myself think the **Pig** represents ALL the bad corruption sickness etc & Maaaybe ya will have some videos of the **Secret Garden Party** thingie to be able to react to not sure but i DO **Hope** they will put some of it online as well for us unfortunate beings unable to go to it OMG i am SO **Happy** & **Delighted** for **Everyone** who is able to go tho (& course a bit envious heh) They are in for a **Fantastical Treat** **Gift**
Thanks for this. You are so mellow, I relax as soon as I hear your voice. This is another great Ren creation. Really love and I am not a RAP fan. However, I am a fan of Art and that’s what Ren is. 💜😊💜
Pig's head/mask are reoccurring and symbolic with their origins probably being Orwell's 'Animal Farm' - which Ren has referenced in interviews. I don't think Ren has specifically stated the exact meaning, as he encourages people to find their own relationship and meaning in his work. My interpretation: They seem to represent the structures and systems of greed. PS Adding to your thoughts on people wishing they were younger: Aging brings a wealth of wisdom, as noted by philosophers like Aristotle. However, with this wisdom comes an increasing awareness of life's fleeting nature, a concept explored by existential thinkers like Heidegger. This realization often creates a dichotomy: while we appreciate the journey and the insights we've gained, we also become acutely aware of our mortality. Stoic philosophers like Aurelius emphasize the importance of embracing each moment and accepting the passage of time with grace. Yet, many find themselves unexpectedly mourning their own inevitable end, a sentiment echoed in the existential dread described by Sartre. This blend of wisdom and mortality invites us to reflect deeply on the human experience, appreciating the journey while acknowledging its finite nature.
