Man, I really want to like the Howa (and Vanguard), but the sloppy bolt is a turn off and the 90 degree bolt lift is unacceptable to me these days. The only place I would take a 90 degree bolt lift is on an open sight rifle.
@@brianklamer3328 mine is in 6.5 Creedmoor. It was a standard Howa 1500 hogue but I found someone selling the HS precision stock so I bought it and put it on. Even the $500 Howa 1500s are top of their class imo, it’s hard to expect much more from that class of rifle
Bergara is a much more refined rifle. I have two Howa’s, including a $1,500 ultralight I used for hunting for ONE season. Not a fan at all and now they both just sit in the safe. Position of the mag release button was designed by a dipshit. Love my Bergara ridge, but I replaced my stock with an mdt chassis.
Don’t get a Howa with an extended mag. They place the mag release in front of the magwell towards the barrel where everything touches it and ejects your mag.
So far I haven’t found a better sub $1000 rifle than the Howa HS precision. I’m not saying there isn’t one out there but I haven’t found it.
Agreed
Have been looking at the Howa Precision, what caliber did you purchase?

The only rifle that comes close is the Tikka T3x
Thank you so much for the tips! I've been contemplating which rifle to get for some time now and this definitely helped me out!
My howa 7prc has not been a consistent shooter so far 😢
Hang in there. I've seen quite a few reviews of other rifle brands chambered in 7prc. Struggling with good groups right now. Limited ammo options.
Please take a borescope and take a look after 500 shots of the barrel of the Bergara. The quality of 3 rifles till now in 308 and 6.5 cdm is terrible.
Have you tested the Stevens 334?
No
