You can get 6.5 PRC in a Tikka, your 300 PRC Christensen is a Magnum action, not just a long action, Christensen has a painted foam filled carbon fiver stock. Sorry but made a few errors on this one!

I agree. I wish reviewers would stop comparing rifles accuracy, action, etc in different calibers. There’s already enough variable in ammo. So to me it makes a fair comparison impossible.

Was at a big box sporting goods store. Asked the guy behind the counter what he thought of the CA Ridgeline since they sold them. He said, "are you asking me as an employee or a gunsmith?" He confirmed he's a gunsmith. He stated that the Ridgeline has delaminating issues with their carbon barrels at the muzzle brake, the amount of flex the barrel has in the stock is unacceptable. Then he said there have been no issues that he's aware of with the Mesa rifles. He then said, "I'd get a Tikka Lite before I'd buy any CA rifle."
I know 2 very busy custom rifle builders both have built many rifles for me. Both said they rebarrel A LOT OF CA Ridgelines and some of the actions need to be trued. That's ridiculous to buy a production rifle that claims to be custom quality. When I worked the CA action while in the store it was NOT smooth. I have trued Rem 700 actions that are cerakoted that are much smoother.
As for Tikka, you are correct, no 7PRC, no 300PRC. HOWEVER, I just bought a Stocky's Stock, ultra carbon at year end price around $350 and a Pre-fit Tikka 7PRC 24" Proof Research barrel for $751, also year end clearance sale. My donor rifle was my second brand new stainless T3x Lite left hand in 300WM. Kind of a shame to tear it down considering it shot factory Norma ammo, both whitetail and bondstrike at 1/2MOA but I don't need 2 identical 300WMs that do the same thing. I just put a scope on it an hour ago and I'm taking it to the range in a couple weeks
As for Tikka triggers, for $8 plus shipping you can buy a lighter trigger spring and crank out a nice crisp one pound trigger pull. That's a ton cheaper than a Trigger Tech trigger and in my experience, the Tikka trigger, once lightened, is perfect.
So, My new Tikka 7PRC, $800 for the rifle on sale, $750 for the new Proof barrel, $350 for the stock, $8 for the trigger spring - $1908. Compare this to what most Ridgelines are selling for at $2000 and even higher if they have the newer FFT stock. I'll take the Tikka build anyday

I read into the ridgleine issues and was up in the air between the Mesa and Tikka Roughtech. I just don't need a carbon barrel. I went with the Mesa essentially just for the hinged floor plate, I doubt I would have gone wrong with the tikka. My results with the Mesa are outlined in a video on my channel, but to put it plainly, my Mesa in 6.5 PRC is a homerun rifle for me. Got one in 7-08 for my father too, and same story.
I have no idea how CA screwed up their rifles in the past but mine seem good to go. That's only a sample size of two and I wouldn't recommend extrapolating that out to the company as a whole. Cheers.

@@Outdoor-Tactics Well I can explain it in a nutshell. And this is from about as reliable a source as it gets (you can figure that out): Christensen Arms is like Ford trucks. Quantity first, then quality. I've had multiple patients at my office that worked for Ford and got an earful all the time. CA clearly wants to flood the market with their products as evidenced by gun broker alone, and many will be excellent while many will not. In my personal experience, customer service is essentially non-existent. My issue was a part not a rifle. I was basically told to pound sand and go back to the merchant I bought it from. Thus, the only reason I'd ever own a CA is a beat up used one to fire form brass. But to be clear, it's because the company's attitude towards their customers once they have a product is WE GOT OUR MONEY, ANY PROBLEMS ARE YOURS TO DEAL WITH.

I understand why all these boutique rifle manufacturers copy the 700 action, but it’s frustrating to me because I believe there are several better options. The 90 degree bolt lift is archaic in our age of not just scopes, but fairly large scopes. Tikka, Browning, Ruger, Franchi, Stevens, Sako, Weatherby all have rifles with lower bolt lifts, and those are just the ones I thought of quickly. I know, “long range” shooters gripe about how light the bolt lift is and gravitate towards 90s as a result, which I believe is overblown to a large degree. Fine, but at least put a three position bolt locking safety on then, which they don’t do, so the bolt doesn’t fall open all the time when hunting. In the end, I think 90s are tradition and the 700 is tradition, and they are the easy button. Hard pass, and I don’t even have to get to warranties to make that decision :)

Enjoyed the video. I feel it would be helpful to the audience to include the MSRP when comparing rifles. It makes it easier to decide if specific features are worth the cost, in this case that being the carbon fiber barrel (if I heard correctly) on the Christensen. Even though the MSRP is usually discounted by retailers, it does offer a ballpark baseline for comparison.

I have that same 300 win mag ridgeline. Shoots lasers. I got a mesa in 6.5 prc and it shot terrible. I sent it in. Everything was fast and easy however they told me it was fine and sent it back. So it got re-barreled and customed by a local guy. 20 inch barrel thats OD green. It looks awesome and shoots even better now. To me I got a buy two rifles for the price of one deal. So I cant say if I'd buy another christensen.

I’ve had 2 Christiansen Arms 6.5 PRCs (the key word there was HAD), and neither one would shoot under 2 inches at 100 yards with any 6.5 PRC ammo. CA quality? Where did it go, or was it ever really there? I had extraction problems with both rifles. Sent one bolt back to the factory, because that’s what they asked me to do. Got the bolt back and still had the same problem. Sold that rifle and bought a Fierce carbon rival. Factory Hornady ammo .5 moa all day. Montana Rifle Co. XTH in 6.5 PRC with factory Hornady ammo .5 moa all day. Love the Montana rifle co 1999 action.

I just bought my first tikka a few weeks ago. They are just as advertised, smooth as glass, and a good trigger. The feeding is so smooth that i actually had to double check a couple times to be sure it picked up a fresh cartridge. And it met their 3 shot into 1 moa with factory ammo. I bought the cheapest one you can get (t3x lite, blued action, synthetic), and have no complaints other than the recoil pad not being great. $35 for a simms pad will fix that though. The ease of changing batrels on them is another great feature of the tikka.

Why buy Christiansen? You say you prefer their bedding system, stock and trigger, but the Tikka out-shoots it and costs a WHOLE lot less money. Also, the Tikka is a lighter rifle with a smoother action. The Tikka seems like a no-brainer.

Personally I wouldnt do a comparison video if you arent going use a number of different manufacturers and different weights. Ive seen some rifles like Bergara shoot 4 or 5 terrible groups and then shoot one at a .25 MOA with the right ammo. Its just not a good and fair comparison. Now the bolt thing, thats just a design issue that CA needs to fix. All in all, I PERSONALLY think Tikka and CVA Cascade are just better rifles than Christensen but thats just my opinion.

These comparisons are mostly useless, especially this one. Different chamberings, stocks, barrel material, etc. Every maker ships a lemon or three from time to time. Bottom line is does it do what you want it to. His ejection issue on the Christensen is because of the large windage knob. It's hitting it and dropping back in. Not really a rifle issue, it's a scope choice issue. I have lots of rifles from all the major manufacturers and have had issues with a few of them. Out of three Christensens, a Mesa and two Ridgelines, the Mesa had an issue with the barrel channel being too tight on one side. It shot under 1 moa consistently anyway, just didn't like the fitment. I asked Christensen if they would look at it and they sent me a shipping label. Not only did they fix the stock issue, they rebarreled it and trued the action. I didn't complain about accuracy at all. Came with test targets with 1/2 in groups, which I verified at the range. They went above and beyond my expectations. Try to get Weatherby, Howa, or Savage to fix something lol. They just blame the shooter or ammo. Weatherby will charge you $200 if they don't verify an issue!

Fiberglass and carbon fiber Composite... it was/is difficult to find out at the time I filmed these videos if that composite had polymer in it or was resin of some other kind. It feels and sounds different than most other non polymer fiberglass or carbon stocks. 🤔... that said the problems I do have with christensen are the fact that mine ejected brass directly up instead of out frequently, causing issues and the endless reports of issues I hear from consumers on christensen rifles. Maybe you appreciate honest only when it aligns with your already established opinions.
