I’m a wheelchair user and I can tell you that these features, while they may not be perfect, are absolute game changers for people with mobility issues. The number of time that wheelchair users come back to find they cannot get into their cars because of the way others have parked (like parking in the yellow lined area of disabled spaces), or not being able to park because the available space is one they couldn’t then get out of their car from. The combination of this, plus the ability to slide right across the front set, is SO useful I can’t even begin to explain the difference it makes.
Absolutely. It's also a wonderful safety feature generally. Should we know how to do this? Sure. Can I do it? Yep. Would I take advantage of this when I'm tired or distracted or just stressed out after being in gridlock for 2 hours? In a split second. Why risk COSTLY repairs if you've got a feature like this that works? Just so you can be judgmental of people who do use it? My sense of self isn't wrapped up in doing things the old fashioned way just to impress other people. I don't make my own clothes, either. ::shrug::
I actually used the remote back out when I was squeezed by two vehicles, and as you know the doors are wide, so much easier to remote back out. That is a great tool. When parallel parking, using the left signal brings up the blind spot camera, easy to prevent curbing you wheels when parking as you view is not taken to far from your mirrors.
I use the remote control quite often because my garage is really narrow. But I have to center the car quite well in front of the garage for it to work. Occasionally I use it to back out when somebody parked too close next to me for entering the car comfortably. The Pedestrians who witness this are always very impressed :D
I like the drone view for demonstrating this -- great work man.. I've gotten more info from this channel about this car than like any other source for any other product I think I ever bought lol. I really hope you continue to review other ioniq's as they come out. Edit: Also how it course corrects when pulling into the garage is pretty cool. I assume it would just go straight forward or back.. the fact that it turns a bit to move away from the inside steps/gas can is really cool
Insanely welll done video. I was extremly surprised when it got in to the garage but then it even straightened itself out in the end - that just blew my mind. My mother has difficulties in getting into our really really tight garage, so we might try this out later as well. Thanks for making these super helpful videos!
I'm able to load my 6 on my tilt trailer with the remote, and not have to go through the hassle of removing the trailer fenders for the low vehicle. Love it. I take all my heavy equipment to a jobsite, then commute in the ev, keeps my 8mpg diesel doing only what it's best at.
Thank you so much. I just barely got mine on 2/2023 & haven’t tried all these functions. Great to find and watched your video. Now I have the complete instructions on how to do it the right way.
I use the remote parking for parking in tight spaces - like a parking bay that has a column next to it or another car really close where I couldn't exit if I parked myself. The reason the car stopped going into the garage the first time was you where too close to the front - it sensed an object there (you) and would not proceeed until it was clear. I gather that the video break at 14:43 was because you also had trouble getting the car to switch on with the remote. I always find that the remote (both of them) is not very responsive when remote starting the car and can take several attempts. Also the car can turn itself off before it starts moving backward or forward, so I have to press lock and start again. I haven't tried parallel parking yet as the car was extremely slow in videos that demonstrated it.
I used the keyfob to pull into a completely full garage about a month ago. My heart was beating about 100 miles a minute but it surpingly did a good job. As for the parking, I've had this on previous cars and found I almost never used it. Not that it doesn't do a good job but it's so slow. If you have someone behind you they get all pissy you are taking to long to park.
Once again a perfect video of the features of that remarkable car. Makes me so much waiting for the Ioniq 6 to finally be able to order here in Sweden. They have released some features coming on the 6 here. Routes with charging points if necessary like Tesla and OTA updates for both car and maps. Hope you get the same updates for the 5 in UN. Thanks for taking time to do these informative videos so useful for us who follow you Corbin.
Very cool drone footage! I use the key fob forward/backward driving every day and I am absolutely satisfied. It reliably manages to drive this massive car in and out my tiny garage every single time. So no need to risk a scratch, it takes of the stress. I also press the forward button until the car stops itself in front of the garage wall automatically. It's worth mentioning though that the system behaves very cautious when people are moving around the car while it is doing its thing. The car obviously wants to avoid a Austin Powers style roll over.
Fantastic test. Thank you. Not sure how often I will use this. Just don't see myself in a public parking garage somewhere, leaving my car in the middle of the drive through, get out and start pushing the remote for this thing to park in 5 steps. Can't imagine drivers behind me will be patient enough!
I use this feature occasionally - its pretty good. I find it's less successful with parallel parking where I live (london) as it doesn't get the car close enough to the kerb as its such a wide car for British city streets. The perpendicular parking works great though in car parks.
OMG, the car is moving by itself! it's possessed! I'd love to prank someone by hiding near by, then start the parking randomly. And watch as people stare into the car, while nobody inside. Catching their reactions in real time would be priceless. ^_^
I think the smart exit does look for approaching cars. Not sure, I haven’t used that feature (EV6 GT-line), but it does warn me to be careful about opening my door when there’s an approaching vehicle when I am parallel parked.
i would love to have a feature like this at my home. my house has a narrow carport with multiple drivers and its a constant struggle of tracking down someone and asking them if they can help let you out because there car is blocking your exit and vice versa. having a feature where you can just grab there key fob and remotely back the car out, get your car out and then remotely put there car back in with minimal risk of damaging there car or worse... getting into your car to find out that your 5'2 sister moved your seat all the way forward so she could reach the pedals but didn't put the seat back!... It all sounds like a dream.
Cool video, really in depth and what i needed. TO me, this is still something i wouldn't use to this stage. Parallel parking is not ok at all for our tight street, and perpendicular is way to slow to be ok... blocking all traffic while doing it. Remote in and out sound cool but at least where i live, if you park so tight that you need this to get in or out, you better be between 2 pillars. if it's between car be ready to have your door smashed by the other person who don't have that feature and will have a really hard time getting in. A nice gimmick, cool to have, but still not enough to be selling point.
Our garage & approach is similar. We can pull the cars in okay, but it leaves little space for my husband to get out of the car. We have a ltd on order and this is probably the only parking feature we’d really use.
Thanks, this was really good. I will have to park my Ioniq 5 in a tight parking system and wondered if the remote parking would do the job. I’m happy to see it does.
My Ioniq 6 has the remote park assist as well as remote movement, forwards and reverse. It is very good at doing the park, apparently very accurate if slow but I have not been game enough, nor found the need to use the facility (I have seen it done by other YT reviewers in the real world).
Great to see this in action - I don't have this feature on my trim. Not sure that I could handle the anxiety of handing over my autonomy and allowing an 'alien' parking my car for me...but it looked pretty neat from the bird's eye perspective, albeit not perfectly in line. Have to admit I really wasn't sure it was going to handle the very tight garage, but I was surprised how well it handled that.
Little drones have the ability to follow simple hand signals to do things like take a picture. It would be nice if you could give it hand signals if you wanted it to get closer to the curb, follow you, stop, etc.
Hi, thank you for the presentation, i think the parallel parking could be much more aligned (as i'm used to with my BMW iX3), bute the remote feature, especially for the garage, is really great! You mentioned the problematic exit of your garage, why don't your parents change the garages and put the trailer near to the stairs? could be worth a try
I'm very well able to handle my car myself. I only tested it if I could move the car....to know how to use if both doors would be blocked by other parking cars.
I'm impressed with the tight garage self parking since I too have a limited opening. Would you share the measurement of the garage door clearance? Assuming that the Ionic 6 limited would park with the same limit, my decision on a SEL or Limited model would be based on it being able to be garaged.
I don't know if parts of this video were in slow motion, but it seems to me that people waiting in a parking lot for this car to park so they can pass would get a little impatient.
I have this car since October, but only knew about the straight forward and backward. I did not know about the self park or the tire realigning in a tight spot. and I THOUGHT I know a lot about cars.
Good demo, as always. I like the pulling in and out of a tight garage space feature as I have this type of space. As for parallel parking between two cars, I don't think that I'll ever use it as I'm good at it. When I got my first driver's license in New York State you had to parallel park by pulling up next to the vehicle in front, then back in, and then pull forward. Period. You had to be within six inches of the curb. If you couldn't do this in these three steps - fail. No license.
Wow, I didn't know this car can do all types of parking assist. I thought it will just go back and forth and even that I didn't trust lol. Now, that i have watched this video...i knew exactly what it is capable of. I have never EVER don't reverse parking or parallel parking....definitely no confident in doing it either lol so I definitely trust the car more. But at the same time...I am still probably use remote control to park instead of sitting inside the car...too damm scare lol.
I used the remote parking in and out from my garage, and have used this feature for 1,5 years. Last time I did that, the car DID NOT STOP and crashed in to the concrete wall of my garage!! Hyundai's response: "My own responsibility to use this feature, and they will not cover anything" - even though the car did not work as expected. they claim that the sensors works, so this is a warning for everyone: You use this feature at your own risk!! The car was newly washed and dried with a towel. From my experience, It is clear that the sensors of the car is faulty.
It'd be super helpful if you put the trim type in the title of your videos. I don't want to have to watch even 30 seconds of video if it doesn't apply to my vehicle. Thank you!
Have you had a chance to see one with the digital side mirrors, they seem to stick out more when folded in than a normal mirror, wondering if it will go in my garage with the digital ones

😅the best Ioniq 5 Videos, a truly professional job. 10K plus on our SEL, so don’t have this capability but great to watch. 8:26
I have the limited and used this feature..it's neat.
Which do you use the most?
Great video as always! I'm off to play in the garage with my Ioniq5 I picked up Monday Dec. 18th.
i've not tried this on my limited so thanks for the video. looks really slow though.

I did! Really neat system

Yeah

I have not as they’re not available in the United States
In Europe i have premium trim ioniq 5 and it doesn't have self parking feature 😮💨
55 and don’t trust me to parallel park. 😂 I failed it when I took my test back in the 80s too.
Hi! Can you let me know the width of your garage? I want to see if it's the same as ours. Thanks!
I believe it is a standard 8 foot wide door
To be fair to the Ioniq 5, it parallel parked WAY better that I would've done so.
How wide is the opening to your garage? Salesman was unable to fit the Ioniq to my 85" garage, but I don't think he knew what he was doing.
Thanks, now tomorrow morning I am going to scare me wife haha 🤣
Hahaha
Got into accident last night. Make a video on all safety features on ioniq 5?
Oh no! Are you alright?
Do all trims have this feature? I don't even see it talk about it on the website
It’s only on the limited trim on the US
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks!
Remote Smart Parking Assist is not listed under 2025 Ioniq 5 (UK)
Agreed, it could be much better, a foot off the kerb is not acceptable.
Can you swap the USB plugs under the dash so that the android auto is in the center console instead of the front?
Just get a bluetooth wireless usb plug in.
May I know why both turning lights flash when your IONIQ5 activate remoting car ? My our ioniq5 wont' flash turning light?
Did it seem to you that the car seemed a little more aggressive when you were out of the car using the remote?
I didn’t notice anything. Did it seem like that to you in the video?
I cant get my self parking to work. Like all the screens pop up, but it never finds a spot.
So who is responsible when the auto park crashes the car into another car or structure?
I wouldn’t imagine anybody but the owner of the Ioniq 5. You’re in control of the car via the key fob so you need to be attentive and stop it if it’s going to hit something

We have the AWD (one down from Ultimate) and would have liked this feature. Thanks for the demo.
BTW our garage is even tighter fit. We park in it. :)

Pretty sure it’s on all the upper level Hyundais now
nice video. The dry turns made me cringe!

Reason it won't do it first is you're standing too close to the front of the car !
