My eczema was so severe as a child that I couldn't take my childhood shots until I was 15 years old. It was a bit traumatizing as a child with all the teasing I endured due to children and adults thinking I had a contagious disease, not to mention the school stand-offs because I didn't have my childhood shots. But that all changed the summer of 82 when I was 16, my parents decided to find a new dermatologist because the present one couldn't seem to help me. Dr. Martin, my angel, he was more than just a doctor to me, he was family and I loved him like a grandfather. When I was 18 he called me into his office and told me he was going to retired now because I didn't need him anymore. I cried but understood and thanked him for helping and supporting me. My parents were not rich and Dr. Martin treated me for free for 2 years and he held off his retirement until my skin was clear and healthy. I'll will always be grateful, he changed my life. I still miss him and so thankful to him 36 years later.

Kay Lewis I'm so glad you were able to find someone to help you. Your doctor sounds like a living angel. If I may ask, why did those other doctors have you hold off on childhood vaccines?

@@janea7592 Because I was allergic to everything. If I listed all things I wasn't allergic to, the list of what I was allergic to would have been a mile long. So, because of that fact the doctors were afraid to vaccinate me.

Sweat is something that can cause my eczema to flare immediately so not getting too hot and staying cooler is imperative. You are correct about the really hot water and Atarax is an excellent drug to help with the itch. I was born with eczema from head to toe and have used hundreds of moisturizers. The very best I have ever used is the Aveeno Eczema care cream. It is like a miracle for my skin - truly a miracle.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. No one would have taken the time to explain the problem so well to me. You are very generous with your time to explain to us in every detail. I started using fragrance-free laundry detergent and fabric softener. I threw away a pair of jeans that were fading. I will follow your advice and buy a product that can remove scratches. I'm probably gonna need the ointment and the cream. Here in Quebec City, it is very difficult to see a dermatologist. We need a prescription from the doctor. And, they never have time for a detailed explanation. Thank you again! You're saving my life...hihi!

I’m so grateful to happen across this video. I have for several years been suffering with an unknown skin disease that several doctors have given several names to. I have pretty much had to diagnosed myself with the help of God. I did a lot of research and have looked at a lot of gruesome looking skin disease just to find which fits my skin disease. I think I may even go back to school to become a dermatologist because I feel so sorry for skin disease sufferers. The characteristics of nummular fits the closes. The redness, the itching, the constant weeping, the coin size lesions, the thickness and scaliness all are signs are there. I think because I’m dark skinned it was hard for the over 50 dermatologists i seen at a tri-study were all puzzled. So for 15 years I have gone undiagnosed. I don’t blame them at all. It has made my faith in God a little more stronger. I’m just glad I now know what it is and can now manage it. Everything you said in your video gave me the confirmation I needed. Again thank you for caring enough to make this video. I have definitely subscribed to your channel.

My son (3 yo) was diagnosed with discoid eczema a while ago - he's had flare ups since he was teeny tiny. I'm based in the UK, and GPs have prescribed loads of things in the past, including emollient creams and liquids for his baths, steroids, anti-fungal stuff, antihistamines...you name it, we've tried it! At the moment he's using zerobase ointment (like the thick greasy cream Dr Dray was mentioning), epimax and zerobase moisturising cream, and 1% hydrocortisone at night to keep patches under control (he had been on betnovate 2%, however this is much stronger stuff - hydrocortisone just doesn't seem to be doing the job!). We have been advised to slather him in the moisturisers at least 4 x per day - and he absolutely LOATHES it!! It's an absolute nightmare - we've been doing it for months and months now and he still tries everything to get out of it! The worst part is the constant scratching at bedtime - I've had to invest in dungaree pjs from a company called Scratchsleeves so that he can't get to the larger patches on his legs and back. I'm hoping the warmer weather will help clear things up, but also dreading the shorter, looser clothing facilitating lots more scratching! His current flare up is probably the worst we've had so far. Just wondered if anyone has any additional, practical tips for dealing with this skin condition in toddlers and kids?

angelina pirkle Hi Angelina! I’m not a doctor, but I was getting constant cold sores, especially in the hot summers. My GP said that it’s not unusual and the sun can trigger them. He put me on a medication called Valtrex for 6 months and now I rarely ever get a cold sore! I always have generic Valtrex on hand in case I feel one starting. It’s a strong medication, but it really dries it up quickly! I’m not a Doctor. This is just my personal experience. Good luck!

I started noticing that after I scratched mosquito bites, they would turn into ring like crusty flaky skin( like ringworm). Ive been applying triamcinalone and mometasone ( what my doctor prescribed me before, which usually works), but mometasone doesn’t quite work well when the ring’s alrdy forming. I’ll try vanicream and see the results after a week or 2.

IT Cosmetics claims their makeup contains anti-aging skincare and SPF 50 broad-spectrum. Supposably their makeup was developed with the help of dermatologists and plastic surgeons. My husband has had some large patches on his ankles for about 5 months now. He saw a family Dr who told him it was athletes foot and prescribed him oral and topical anti fungal. My husband completed his anti fungals but still has the patches on his ankles. He already has eczema so I’m thinking his Dr was incorrect. He wears steal toe boots 10hours a day m-fri so I think that’s what’s irritating him. We went back to the same Dr recently who was not helpful and is now saying it’s ringworm which also doesn’t match up with my husbands symptoms. Please help us try to figure this out. I have been seeing the same derm for a little over a year now.. I recently had what I believe is a flare up because my kitten had ringworm... My derm scraped my spot and said it was ringworm. However the cream they gave me caused the surrounding skin of the actual ringworm spot to become super itchy and inflamed (red, bumpy, almost raw)... They simply had me switch back to my steroid ointment and I feel as thought they handled it very poorly. Would you recommend finding a new derm and starting over with a new dr? I was never offered the patch testing and I feel as though they just deal with surface issues rather than diving more into the actual issues.. Thank you so much Dr.Drazy 💜💜
