Pricing is brilliant. Profit is not in the MIJ instruments, it's in the massive sales of the Indonesian models being the same guitar for half the price. That's the Strategy. There is a significant difference in the little details of the construction. But you have to be really picky. I've own two revstars. The second one being a Japanese made revstar in crisp gold. Just an incredible instrument.
@@fernandoocaranza4510 yeah - the Japanese ones are "better" for sure. But it's diminishing returns. There is a black standard in maple and rosewood. There is black metallic pro with a maple neck also it just hasn't been listed on Sweetwater yet but it's been confirmed.
But is there a £500 difference in sound quality between the Yamaha Pacifica 612v and the Standard Plus? You should have compared the Pacifica 612V with these two new ones in terms of sound. Greetings and thank You for all videos you make!!!
The sound is subjective. Both have great pickups, Seymour duncan on the 612, but 612 doesn't have Stainless steel frets and contoured heel joint. Also it comes with cheap switches and pots.
As a owner of 2 Pacificas 611 (one hardtail, one with the wilkinson trem), I had to swap the factory "Grover marked" tuners (with Schallers) because they felt really crappy and would cut the high E string on the hardtail one. Gotoh hadware on new on is one of the best, if not the best around. I also changed pots (CTS, with a mini toggle instead od the push pull) and jack socket. Total expense: about € 1000 each with a professional setup. Totally worth it! Soundwise, it's subjective matter (I prefer to have a p90 on the neck position for what I play). Finally, if you count the stainless steel frets eand the new contours on the newest models, the higher price tag is totally reasonable IMHO

Don't think there is a good enough justification for the price difference. The professional should really have a more interesting neck wood other than run of the mill maple, roasted maple as a minimum.
If anyone is considering the Yamaha Standard Plus, for just a couple of hundred quid more (depending on availability) you can get FGN built Odyssey HSS strats, made in Japan. Significantly cheaper than a Pacifica Professional, but the quality, playability and sound is absolutely out of this world.
