Emelia, if you're going to TIG weld stainless steel you need to back purge your welds. There are simple kits out there from companies like TICON Industries, that include plugs that enable you to plug each end of the tubing, and then you connect an argon hose to these plugs so that you're flowing argon thru the tube while you TIG weld. If you don't do this your weld will have porosity and sugaring on the inside of the tube. This will lead to a less strong weld, loss of corrosion resistance, and obstructions to your flow inside the tube. This process is not difficult to do, especially with these custom products designed specifically for back purging stainless exhaust components.
She'll be throwing all that shit out and going back in with the stock exhaust. Why people try this when these cars are already set up right. Ferrari is not going let the owner ever buy another one. Blacklisted.
@@jamesanderson8342 The issue with using solar flux and products like it is that it forms a glass like slag on the inside of the tubing. Although you can get away with this in some applications, if you're making a header that will go into a turbo, or an intake or sanitary tubing like for a brewery or food processing plant you'll need to back purge, thusly back purging is a great process to have in your toolbox for when its needed.

The O2 sensors could be getting a higher airflow reading. These stupid new cars can't be tuned by a lot of programs! So annoying... HP Tuner for example just good for American stuff. For the valves connect them back up and cable tie them to the the hangars or something
@@Steve-Mcgarrett A wideband sensor like the ones on these cars (4 wire) cannot measure air velocity or pressure. They measure a air fuel mixture. With the exhaust control valves not being detected and likely the ecu seeing the increased air flow past the secondary 02 sensors that's probably what triggered the limp mode. I bet even just having the valves plugged in and running an 02 sensor spacer on the rear 02s would probably be enough to trick the ecu
Completely agree with the spacer. I am not knowledgeable about the valves in the exhaust but if it’s an unplugged component, yeah I agree plug them in and leave them disconnected. Nothing a couple of correctly sized resistors won’t solve.
Well I do have knowledge about all these kinda stuff but lemme tell you ferrari uses a sensitive updated software which will not let you modify these exhausts or do any serious map installed as they are very particular about the emission norms, also they do make lower peak power and gradually it increases over the middle and the higher rev range, so even if you try to tweak a map in the ecu it would take a lot of elbow crease to actually achieve what you want. I do like seeing good maps and modifications in these vehicles but I hope you/the owner of this car wont face any problem, coz this engine is gonna take all that tweaks which you are gonna perform which might doesn't make any sense considering the fact that this car has it's own symphony. All the best Emelia.
So, whenever I have to weld or torch around anything sensitive, I use either refrasil or spun/woven kevlar heat repelling/flame retarding cloth, which I discovered by working in the film industry as a Key Grip, protecting from super hot lighting equipment. Any sparks are immediately arrested within the cloth. The black spun/woven kevlar cloth can be held between your hand and a torch without experiencing any flame, heat or spark transfer. It's very expensive, but it lasts forever and can be reused over and over. It's around 250.00/yard. Refrasil is cheaper and will do most anything required during car work. This is especially important when working around fuel tanks, lines, and intakes. Be careful!
Maybe try and putting the exhaust valves back in? or plug the motors in to their harness so the wiring is still complete and tuck the motors out of the way? 🤷 Your welds look awesome! But I'm wondering why weren't you purging the pipes?
Maybe plugging the valves back into the harness might do it. I don't know Ferrari's but on my newer GM cars the CAN bus makes everything "talk" to everything else. The same uneasy feeling you had about this car is the same feeling I have every time I watched you tear apart the C-8 & the Ferrari lol. Yet I still love to see the end results. I thought they sent you a cease & desist letter. Just means you'll be the first to figure out how to get around it. Wow, that car is smart though!
Yeah, this has really gone far enough with a customer's inability to create the car they want. While it may be a simple fix in the future, right now they put a brand new car into limp mode.
Let me explain it to you. In Ferrari’s absolutely correct opinion, when you devalue ONE of their cars, you devalue ALL of their cars. Emilia has ZERO respect for the brand and marque, which she initially displayed by destroying her absolutely perfect (before she touched it) 458. Here we go again, as true Ferrari aficionados watch in horror as another perfect car get butchered by an idiot RUclipsr. The owner of that car has just lost close to $100k in market value by letting a non-factory certified technician touch the car. That’s just NOT done. She’ll never be allowed to purchase a new one with her record of disrespect for the brand. Hope it’s worth it. Probably is, she’s more in love with freakin Mustangs than Ferraris. Genius. smh
That stinks after all that work. I have been in the 268GTB and they are very smart cars. I hope you will be able to bypass the sensor that detected. Thanks for the video and keeping your wires spicy.
You can’t paint them nothing, if you do they put you on their black list and you can’t buy one ever again and can block you from getting parts to fix it
Hey Emelia how are you doing today my friend so I like watching your RUclips videos they are very educational videos and I like the way you explain things to your viewers and I like the content in the videos
Well ,there goes the warranty . At least wait till she's broke in . I'd like to see the dyno results between the two . If there's no difference, it will a be waste of time and money . lol. Good luck on the install . ✌
I missed the problem needing to be solved with this modification. I assume Ferrari carefully tuned the exhaust for optimal performance on this sophisticated car, since they utilize the technology on their race cars.
Its Normal that the Ferrari has problems you got rid of the compression so it detects it on the sensors, you have to reprogram the ecu's always when modifying the exhaust, One thing for sure if you break the engine your warranty is void, plus home made exhaust just welding pipes together is a no go! You should get an aftermarket exhaust which is engineered, so if you have engine problems the exhaust manufacture is responsible
@@marcellszabo4000 no need but thanks, little does he know I have no less than $30k on me at all times.........people like him are just looking for attention unfortunately 😂
support "Right to Repair" - john deere and ferrarri are the worst but GM/ford want to go that direction too, they just cant yet due to the car repair infrastructure in place already.
Emelia Hartford Awesome Video I think you a Great job Fabricating 458destroyers 296GTB's exhaust and I think that Cold start sounded absolutely incredible and I hope you manage to fix those Codes and that you don't get a Cease and Desist from Ferrari
I use to love Ferrari but I have lost respect for them because of how they treat customers. Even after dropping half a million on a car they still refuse to let the owners have free reign over it. Its supposed to be for their brand image, but now I just associate them with stuck up fake car enthusiast that have more money than skill.
Well I admire your work and courage, I have to side with Ferrari on this one. First of all the exhaust note on Ferraris is the pinnacle of what you want the car to sound like, unless you want to be like some teenage kid who wants to announce his presence to the whole neighborhood every second after the car ignition turns on. If that's the case just go buy a Mustang and put glass packs on it. Secondly messing with their engine especially on that hybrid is totally unsmart. And thirdly you have the computer system that will definitely mess you over for even trying. Why screw up an excellent car?
The only thing that Ford has ever bugged me about is the 6 recalled airbags in my 2004, 2009 and 2011 Rangers. The only one left is the driver side in my parked 2009.
I own a MB SL550 that I'm very proud of. A friend who has a Ferrari asked me to go with to drop off his Ferrari for service. I was with him when he talked to the service rep who asked him if he'd made any modifications to the car and it was a small thing - cosmetic if I remember correctly. They refused to work on it. On the way out of the dealership, one of the sales people said "Who owns that piece of sh-- Mercedes?" So we went to my MB shop and they said they would do the work for him. True story.
The exhaust you have design and built is great . My understanding is to limited. What was wrong ???? Yes FERRARI works with some rules . Mc LAREN is more severe than FERRARI. Anyway, if you can use and drive this FERRARI, enjoy this great time. Thank you for the video.
Same issue dde had with their Ferrari, the mass air sensors are based off the volumetric flow for a certain diameter pipe, change the position etc and their scaling is off.
If it is not the detection of the valve being disconnected, then it is a catalytic insufficiency as reported by the post-cat O2 sensors (I didn't catch if she installed an aftermarket cat or if it was catless). It can't really be anything else, unless there are other sensors, but I can't imagine what they would be. Generally, catalytic insufficiency will not put the car in limp mode, it will only give you a check engine light, but maybe Ferrari had other ideas. So again, that points to the car not detecting the presence of the valve being connected.
Since it is no longer road legal, maybe they just want to ensure it will be only used on track on not cause noise issues on the road. Idk what the dB limit is there, but in Germany they would take your car away if you tried to drive that on the road.
All you have to do is both your rear o2 sencers need o2 spacers b1 sencer 2 bank 2 sencer 2 both need o2 spacers or the ecu will detect cat below threshold or cat proformance
this could help and i suggested it but the car doesnt have any cats at all and valve system removed also probly doesnt help but im not too knowledgeable on all the new valve stuff.
Very well done, Emelia & Sandy! BTW... Not Lamborghini, not Porsche, Ferrari, yes Ferrari, requests that you immediately put all your tools away and Cease & Desist!! THIS MEANS YOU EMELIA, SANDY & UNI, lol. 😢😢😢😢
I can't relate - Love the car, like the videos - but how many people have an income that can afford a car like this? Glad that someone loves cars, like I do, that has the money to play them like I would want to. My fun cars are both twenty years old because that is what is within my budget. I bet the bumper on that Ferrari is worth more than my entire tuned suspension, LSD and upgraded cooling system combined.
The car is really cool looking but I can't feel love for any boosted Ferrari. To me they should always have a thoroughbred NA V8 or V12. More over you can't make nice sounding v6 at least in a tunnel it will sound like a v12.
Ferrari is the H.O.A of the car world.

Genius. smh

@@kornbred1653 lol. Kids. No appreciation for quality.
This is so cool. Emilia’s enthusiasm is contagious. The Ferrari is alright too. 😁
Love your videos Emelia :D
Keep it up!
That stinks after all that work. I have been in the 268GTB and they are very smart cars. I hope you will be able to bypass the sensor that detected. Thanks for the video and keeping your wires spicy.
Love your videos Emelia keep it up
I'd love to see them try and stop WD from doing what he wants to his.😂🤣😂
Right? Come repo my car, I dare you.
Simple, when you are placed on the f'naughty list the car has to be bought by somebody else.
4:45 With that torch cup, the tungsten should protrude about 5/8" - 3/4" and set the argon cfm to 35-40 for a wider coverage of shielding gas.
Love seeing you having fun with one of your passions. Cannot wait to see Gran Turismo!!
Always love your video! Great way to start the day off. Watch your video
You are truly a woman after my own heart. The moment you buy something, you're like, "Let's take this apart, and make it better!"
It's not her Ferrari. She is building an exhaust for some dude that she doesn't even know.
Let's buy the Mona Lisa and make it better...
It's not hers
And that poor f8 that was perfection before it was brutalized...
Your AWESOME and your tig skills are great! Have you ever used laser? It lays a weld that looks like a wedding band. Excelent for stainless.
“Their car” is wild. They would have to pay me more than the car’s worth to stop me from doing whatever I want to it.
Novitec or Tubi exhaust is a good upgrade for ferrari with no issues. Love your videos 🤩
Those pipes should come out right on the top (through the tailgate) 💯percent!
Why does Jay Leno refuse to own one....😂
He has a personal grudge with a Ferrari dealership!
240's to lambos its crazy the progress ive seen you go throught it forsure inspires me to keep working hard for my dreams
Whomp whomp whommmm. Next week...putting the stock exhaust back on plus paying a huge service fee to clear the codes!
This is why Jay Leno hates Ferrari's. He loves to work on his own cars.
Nah that's not why Leno doesn't want a Ferrari!
Can they really stop you from modifying your vehicle ? Like comon you paid the money and brought it so it's all yours...
Apparently with Ferrari you can't sadly
Just like an HOA.
You can’t paint them nothing, if you do they put you on their black list and you can’t buy one ever again and can block you from getting parts to fix it
@@jprizzle2604 🙄😳🫡 damnn !!
But when she was taking the hammer to it.She said I hope The owner doesn't mind. Hmm who could be the real owner 🤔
Hey Emelia how are you doing today my friend so I like watching your RUclips videos they are very educational videos and I like the way you explain things to your viewers and I like the content in the videos
Love your journey and content ❤
Well ,there goes the warranty . At least wait till she's broke in . I'd like to see the dyno results between the two . If there's no difference, it will a be waste of time and money . lol. Good luck on the install . ✌
They just don’t want you to make it way better…
Let's embrace and celebrate the engineering marvels they create.
Who saw that coming ....😂
Ur so lucky ,big shout out to ye ,keep sharing all these crazy cars
What happened to Sandy's Pantera?
I missed the problem needing to be solved with this modification. I assume Ferrari carefully tuned the exhaust for optimal performance on this sophisticated car, since they utilize the technology on their race cars.
its jus Ferrari being Ferrari
Its Normal that the Ferrari has problems you got rid of the compression so it detects it on the sensors, you have to reprogram the ecu's always when modifying the exhaust, One thing for sure if you break the engine your warranty is void, plus home made exhaust just welding pipes together is a no go! You should get an aftermarket exhaust which is engineered, so if you have engine problems the exhaust manufacture is responsible
One reason I'd never get a Ferrari. Who they hell are they to say what u can do with your car. It's insane
They should personally install that exhaust for you and apologise on camera for getting rid of their v12 cars.
If you bought it you should be able to do whatever you want with it period, if they tell ya you can't they need to be cancelled 🤔
Tell us you cant afford a ferrari without telling us. Oh wait. You just did.😅😅😅😅
@@d1specdrifter how does this come into picture u on lsd?
@@marcellszabo4000 no need but thanks, little does he know I have no less than $30k on me at all times.........people like him are just looking for attention unfortunately 😂
support "Right to Repair" - john deere and ferrarri are the worst but GM/ford want to go that direction too, they just cant yet due to the car repair infrastructure in place already.
Tell the government, not Ferrari
Emelia Hartford Awesome Video I think you a Great job Fabricating 458destroyers 296GTB's exhaust and I think that Cold start sounded absolutely incredible and I hope you manage to fix those Codes and that you don't get a Cease and Desist from Ferrari
"Gonna beat it off like we beat the other one off" XD lolol
I use to love Ferrari but I have lost respect for them because of how they treat customers. Even after dropping half a million on a car they still refuse to let the owners have free reign over it. Its supposed to be for their brand image, but now I just associate them with stuck up fake car enthusiast that have more money than skill.
Cease and desist.... Hahahahahahahahaha lol that ain't gonna stop you from getting shit done. Full send always!
Ferrari stopped someone modding their car
Sounds about right
Well I admire your work and courage, I have to side with Ferrari on this one.
Nice job on the exhaust 458 destroyer is going to love it so much just get those codes cleared and she'll be screaming down the highways
X pipe would have been easy to build in that location. you had plenty of room. Looks great, you did an amazing job.
The only thing that Ford has ever bugged me about is the 6 recalled airbags in my 2004, 2009 and 2011 Rangers. The only one left is the driver side in my parked 2009.
And this is exactly why I would never buy a Ferrari if I had the money. Plenty of other brands that don't think they own something after they sell it.
True story.
What was the mod?
The exhaust you have design and built is great . My understanding is to limited. What was wrong ???? Yes FERRARI works with some rules . Mc LAREN is more severe than FERRARI. Anyway, if you can use and drive this FERRARI, enjoy this great time. Thank you for the video.
Same issue dde had with their Ferrari, the mass air sensors are based off the volumetric flow for a certain diameter pipe, change the position etc and their scaling is off.
There engineers and top brass are mad that some ordinary folks can make it better 😂😂
Love your content and love you love for all of our mental health and well-being. May you be blessed with good karma for the rest of your life.
So again, that points to the car not detecting the presence of the valve being connected.
theres no cats in the new exhaust.
“aftermarket exhaust detected. please install an original ferrari exhaust and present to your local dealer for unlocking the ECM” 😂
So cool that you're far more than just a beautiful face Emelia...I really appreciate your content! Keep up the great work!
What a complete package Emelia is beauty, brains, sense of humor, builds custom exhaust for super cars and she has "Perfect teeth" too.
Those invisible cats are sweet! 😉
