I am pleased so many are watching this service, and not surprised as the livestream is done so well.l hope some watching Keble for the first time will join us regulars online to hear the sublime singing of the choir and wise words that give comfort and hope.God bless
I was there last night, but how wonderful to have this recorded. Very many thanks.
Thank you so much! A special treat for those who could not attend!
I love that the Church Of England has kept the Introit " Drop down dew ye heavens" Lovely service
Thank you for a wonderful service.
Wonderful uplifting service - thank you everyone.
Thank you for this beautiful service, uplifting and inspiring. God bless you all!
Prince.of Peace rule over our world..
I kept wanting to give another thumbs up. Just what I wanted.
Wonderful uplifting service, many thanks to all involved , hope you all have a blessed Christmas
Have just returned from holiday and caught up with the Advent carol service. Wonderful and look forward to Christmas carols too on Friday
Praise to God in beautiful sacred music which lifts the Soul into the Divine. A sincere thank you.
Beautiful service, indeed!
Wonderful service. Kudos to the organists!
Beautiful!
Thanks to all involved in this Advent Service from Keble Chapel. The setting to Es ist ein Ros entsprungen particularly caught my ear. As a German speaker, I found it a pity that it wasn´t in the original German or even a mix of both German and English. The magnificent, joyful setting of the Magnificat was also a highlight for me.
The tune is used for other words as happens with many carols when sung in different countries. It is sung in German by many Cathedral Choirs
Wonderful singing, wish l could have been present
CANON MAX IS NOW CHAPLAIN MAX. I LIKE THE WAY HE ANNOUNCES THE PAGE NUMBER IN A HYMN OR PRAYER BOOK. VERY EASY TO REMEMBER THAT NUMBER.
Canterbury's great loss is Keble's great gain.
Lovely. I enjoy how the established church acts as a kind of western Shintoism, inspiring withgrand cerminies attended by a majority of those who do not believe the doctrines of the church.
It would be better if the majority of those attending actually were devout Christians.
Those days are over in the UK. We’re all too educated to need long winded stories to explain psychological situations. Look abroad, Christianity isn’t doing too badly in backward countries.
Who is the organist? Wow, just spectacular. Thank you from California.
That was our two organ scholars, Daniel Greenway and Edward Gaut.
Wonderful,,,and the idea ti shiw the lyrics is great,,,Where is this Keble chapel?A liturgic ceremony very beautiful,,are you members of anglica high Church?I am Italian and I sing in a parish choir,,we sing O cme Emmanuel in latin, but your version and the choir are very good
We are a Church of England chapel that is a part of Keble College in Oxford.
Are those normal candles that the congregation is holding?
Yes, everyone gets a candle with a drip shield
Pray and fight for Free Palestine! 🙏🙏🙏
Lots of background noice
There were a lot of people there, we generally regard that as a good thing but it does mean you won’t get studio quality sound.
Why why why not use the beautiful King James version of the Bible. The modernised Bible is so pedestrian and lacking poetry and mystery and cadence.
It is a beautiful translation, but worth remembering that it was created in order to be accessible to the people, being written in the vernacular English of the day. As such it is very much in the tradition of the King James Version to use a modern translation of the Bible, making it easier for our congregation to understand and engage with the text.
@@KebleChapelI agree with you, I love the AV so dearly and adore when I hear it in Anglican & Episcopal services in the 21st century (the translation is 400+ years old! Shocking!), yet I understand the intelligibility issue that you bring up and commend you for the decision! Is the NRSV the preferred translation?
I’ve enjoyed the translation much (I’d be considered a far right conservative and yet I enjoy the NRSV as one of the best available today).
God bless you! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
@IsaiahPatrick0115 Yes, we use the NRSV (Anglicised edition)
@@KebleChapel Oh great, is the NRSVue (the latest update from 2022) going to start being used when its Anglicised edition comes out?
Shocking and disrespectful racket at the beginning!
It started off rather nice and then an advert ruined it so wont continue 😢
I’m afraid we have no control over where RUclips chooses to place adverts
