I am not a very religious person but I must admit I was moved to tears by listening to the beautiful music and the wonderful words... The atmosphere was amazing and I never thought this could get across from the internet so well. Keep up the good work, dear friends, I wish I could attend live and be part of it for real . Big compliment to you all from the bottom of my heart

I've watched this twice now, and the service filled heart each time. The children added so much to the joy. Bless you all.

Thank you for such a moving service. It takes me back 70 years, when I was a student at Keble. Now so far away.

Thank you for saying it, it takes a lot of work but we think it’s worth it to help people engage in our worship.

Absolutely amazing, organist, soloists, director of music, choir, readers, clergy and as mentioned the behind the scenes people. We’ll done and thanks to you all. Particularly moving when the children joined the choir. Merry Christmas to you all

Thanks so much for this. I am a Keble alumnus from 1971 to 1975 (the Denis Nineham years - I read Modern Languages under Denys Potts et al) and though I couldn't get to the service this year, it's always a joy to experience, even if on this occasion online. Every blessing for Christmas 2022!

With all due respect to the individuals who mastermind these videos and allow us to experience a part of the musical/worship life of Keble College - Oxford, there is something disconcerting about watching hands on a keyboard with nary a body attached to them. May I respectfully suggest a different camera placement in the organ loft.

It would be nice to see the organist as an entire person, but I also think it's fascinating to see how the organ and all its different keyboards and registers are played -- it's not a view you'd otherwise get to see unless you were the actual organist.

Why is it no longer just candle light???

    • @Jack-eo5fn

The church is dimly lit, but the camera settings make overhead white lights glare harshly. That’s what you’re picking up.

We set the lights differently for different services, the Advent carol service is candlelit to symbolise us waiting in the darkness for Jesus to come. It is also the case, as Jack says, that, despite our best efforts, the cameras don’t completely capture the atmosphere in person in chapel.

Beautiful service but it does seems kind of strange to sing Christmas music just 6 days after Advent started!

That’s one of the strange things about Oxford terms, this is the end of term so we celebrate Christmas now before everyone goes home.
