      @@6051Grace Especially after St Johns' effort. I normally love new repertoire, but at the end of this awful year, what was definitely needed was at least SOMETHING to give the impression that not everything had changed for ever. Somehow Nethsingha missed the point in my view; hence Trinity hear were absolutely bang on target despite being a year early! Utterly magnificent.

    Thank you so much for this thoughtful post sharing with us the Sublime and ineffable gift of God that is Advent/Nativity Whom in His Divine Council and Will has bestowed upon the world in general but The Church in particular! It's a joy to hear the Anglican Church's expression of it!
    The Trinity College Choir is one my favorite and never cease to offer Beauty in perfection as they strum their vocal harps to The Lord!
    At 32:50 is the song," O Emmanuel," this is one of the most beautiful versions I've heard if not the most! It's an all time favorite that I'm sure I've repeated a billion times being so short hehe!!
    A Blessed Advent/Nativity to all who are celebrating! Our Saviour is Coming!!!

    • @joscallinet6260
      @joscallinet6260 3 года назад

      @T Ponst86 It could very well be that we are now all of a sudden discovering how ridiculous the whole idea of church attendance has become. COVID is forcing us to be more secular and rational in our thinking - which, in turn, is at long last freeing us to leave our churches behind us. From now on, we will view churches and the singing that took place in them as historical remnants of a distant past, just as we figured out that, in our digestive tracts, our appendixes are an unnecessary vestigial remnant carried over from a much earlier version of our human bodies. When we have our appendixes removed, often as a result of appendicitis, we go on about our lives just as we did before, only now without them. In the future, churches will serve as repositories (museums, if you like) of religious music, art, architecture and literature. In that sense, they will continue to have considerable historical value.

    Listening, I am vividly reliving the now lost experiences of pure joy only possible worshiping our FATHER in Heaven with thanksgiving, and praise.
    Listening, I am being enabled to again witness the praying/singing of families' perfectly imperfect renditions, but nevertheless, blessedly sweet voices. Goosebumps and big smiles! Thank you!!

    Thank you for posting this. An absolutely beautiful service.
    In answer to an earlier post, nearly 50 years ago, I had the huge privilege of singing in choral services in Trinity and Kings Chapels, obviously not at the same time and sadly not at Advent, I have to admit I preferred Trinity, having been born and raised in this great City I am allowed to say this!

    I live in America, but was in England for a solo tour during this service - alas, I was in the Lakes District at the time, but I'm now really regretting not switching my whole schedule around to make it to this service! Sublime perfection, as always. Thank you!

    This service is just magnificent! I don't understand how such a land can have the scriptures, plus such a rich Church history and culture, music, etc., and still have so many agnostics and atheists running around nowadays. Makes no sense.

      In the highest forms of European Christian contemplative mysticism, (Cistercian amd Benedictine), in agnostic atheism, and even Chinese Tao mysticism, (such as St. John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila in the "Interior Castle" explain), also in (the English) "The Cloud of Unknowing", we stand before the ineffable , all in seemingly different ways, but stand there we do, in the SAME place. Some of us chose to call the place where we stand by different names. They are superficial differences. A very blessed Advent and Christmas season to you all.

      I think that's just a reading light for a paper score - they tend to have a fairly high colour temperature, similar to daylight, rather than candlelight. There may be a practical reason for this - I certainly tend to find them a lot easier to read by than yellower light.
