Just received our R1S a month ago. Best vehicle I’ve ever driven. We almost got the Tesla X yet build quality is better on the Rivian- interior materials nicer. Still want the Y for the wife. Charging experience on first road trip to CA was good - combination of Rivian and other chargers worked great
We sold our Disco 5 for the R1S and wouldn’t go back. Had the LR3 and LR4 before that. They all have their quirks but the R1S is such a smooth ride for a large rig, and just a joy to drive. We get 303 miles on a full charge and the software is super accurate with estimating your distance for long trips. Just a great vehicle.
I have my R1S since Sep. of 2022, and I have no complain about this car. I had used their Service Center and mobile service; and had the best experience; two times that I drove to the Phoenix Service Center without an appointment and they worked on the car right away... without waiting and got me out in less than an hour (and with a smile). I also have used the RAN (Rivian charging network, right now it is still free but will have a cost in the future per Rivian) in 5 different locations and just can't wait for them to build out more. If you want me to give a score from 0-100, I would give it a 99... there is alway rooms for improvement. :)
Who ever said large massive electric Suvs were slow. I can't believe the specs. 835 hp. 908 lbs ft of torque, 0-60 in 3 seconds. That's like Ferrari or Lamborghini statistics!!! Astounding! What a beast! 🤯
That is one awesome SUV. Love the exterior and interior color. The dash is sleek and clean. The acceleration just blew me away for such a big rig. 3 seconds to 60 MPH is amazing!
Drew and Mason, I've been meaning to comment how you have evolved and your new format of driving the review vehicle for your introduction from the driver's side is a refreshing, including your childhood flashback. Keep up the excellent work you do Your fan and subscriber from Sydney, Australia!
I got a good look at one of these in a parking lot the other day. If I was in the market for an SUV I would absolutely get one of these. Everything about it was pure perfection design wise.
Not to nit pick on you (I see this on a lot of vehicle review channels) but white lights mounted low are not "Fog Lights". Amber lights are used to help see through fog. White lights, just like your headlights, will reflect off fog. These are supplemental driving lights. Otherwise, this was a very insightful video. Keep up the good work.
Maybe, but nearly every make lists them as “fog lights” (even my 2020 Pilot, and a quick look at Honda web site, they still call them fog lights). And if you search “vehicle fog lights” you will see both amber and white come up. I think that was true back in the day, but not now.
My wife loves these, but we can’t afford them. She met a young woman recently with one. She said they also have the R1T truck! Ow, I can’t imagine having 150 to 200K wrapped up in cars. All cars will eventually depreciate 100% unless you never use it.
And that to me is the biggest issue. I do not think the answer for most people will be home charging. The main reason is you have millions of people who live in multi-dwelling buildings, high-rises, and all, and those of us who’s garages have become more storage area, or home workshops or offices. In our neighborhood most people park their cars in the driveway and on the street, and many with older teen drivers may have 3-4 cars in total. Can you just imagine if even 25% had EVs? There would be charging cables all over the place. What EVs need to really grab the market, is not some whacked politicians (Like Cal. gov. Newsom) forcing this on us, but a huge network of charging stations, as many as the gas stations we have now, that can “fill” these from a 10% to 100% in 10 minutes!
They have 34+ and growing service centers and over 200 mobile service vans . They say almost 80% service needs can be done by vans at your home or work place . They also have tie up with various collision repairs shops .
Thank you for this ! I was not considering the green interior UNTIL I saw it in person. Then I was worried - how would it look if I did green outside and green inside. Luckily you did this green on green! And loved it. Thank you!!
Who in their right mind would EVER consider a Range Rover, after seeing the Rivian Beast ? Thinking of all the craziness of Range Rovers , I have always loved the Sport, so beautiful, but so many problems with drive train, electronics, so incredibly problematic . Now the Rivian with 835 HP and tons of torque, a true Range Bover Killer. Goodbye Range, Bmw, Mercedes AMG, and of course, Goodbye Urus. Thanks for the Enlightenment on Rivian, Guys.
To be fair, Range Rover reliability has vastly improved over the last decade, and though people do occasionally get problems with the newer cars, that happens far less often than in the past. And if you are wishing for a (likely) more reliable drivetrain, the fully-electric Range Rover is coming in 2024. And while I don't doubt that Rivian can make pretty reliable cars, their reliability is untested right now. Teslas have historically been problematic with electronics (e.g. door handles & doors not working, charge port issues, phantom braking, etc.), so electric cars haven't yet developed immunity to unreliability. But only time will tell
Sorry, but I'd rather have a Range Rover Sport over an R1S. Why? So many reasons....but the top two reasons are: road trips are so much easier/faster/stress-free in a RRS over an R1S. And even more importantly and my second big reason is that I'm not spending $80k-$95k on a vehicle made by a start-up company that might not be around in a few years. I hope Rivian survives, but that's a big question mark at this point. Their stock has continually fallen over the last year or so and hasn't shown any real sign of recovering. It's a big risk buying a Rivian today.
@@TSERJI yeah, speaking as a longtime owner, the JLR "problematic" Internet trope is exaggerated for more recent vehicles. Currently looking at an R1S and there is a longer list of things I'd have to give up than I'd like if I switched from my Discovery. Hmmm.

This is the only 7 adults EV SUV in the market right now. The others are 5 adults + 2 midgets/children.

Good morning!
Would you recommend this truck for a first time driver
A first time driver would probably want to start with something smaller and less expensive
The 2nd and 3rd rows are definitely not big enough for adults. The Honda CR-V has a larger 2nd row than the R1S
On a recent test drive, I felt completely comfortable in the 2nd row while my buddy drove. I am 6ft with long legs. R3 is definitely smaller.
