Yep good luck getting to the dance floor when this song came on. One of the most iconic songs and music videos of the 80s. I was in college and it was instance when this song came on at college bars across the country.
Madonna was “Susan” and Rosanna was “Roberta”, fun fact: Rosanna was supposed to be the lead and this was to be a star vehicle for her, but Madonna’s second album was released and it quickly became known as “The Madonna Movie”.
Y’all might have the dopest reaction channel for the wide diversity of music and I’m here for all of it. Great job fellas keep pushing out there reactions
Madonna is THE SHIT and always will be. She is one of a kind and always will be. Biggest selling female artist of all time(with over 400 million records sold leaving her competitors in the dust), highest grossing female touring artist of all time holding the first, second and fourth spot in the top 5 and making $1.8 billion with ticket sales alone, she has had 52 number one singles on The Billboard Dance Chart in her career and you couldn't fuck with her if you tried. This woman has set the standard and changed the game for 40 years and still no one comes close to her. Icon and living legend. Do Papa dont Preach from 1986 next.j
Papa Don’t Preach- Madonna. Gents if all of you don’t know this song, it’s one of the groundbreaking songs when it came out about dealing with teenage pregnancy. Love for you to react to the song and video!
The song Rosanna by Toto was about this actress Rosanna Arquette (David Arquette's sister). Loved the movie Desperately Seeking Susan, Love Madonna, and this song is off the chain
Excellent choice you can't beat Madonna have youistened to sidewalk talk featuring Madonna it was released in 1984 by her then boyfriend jellybean great track well done guys 😊😊😊
Man! Madonna the blueprint for all these pop stars of today. You guys need to react to THE VIRGIN TOUR 1985. Madonna was everywhere. She was playing her hometown of Detroit. Great music, amazing moves and lit crowd! The greastest entertainer of that generation and today. Damn ahes on tour right now! Peace.
I remember this song well. Strangely enough, her record company WOULD NOT release this song as a 7" single... only as a the "B" side of the 12" single "Angel". As such, it was not eligible to be listed on the Billboard Hot 100. It they had released this as a 7" single, It would have surely hit the #1 spot on the Hot 100.
It was a great strategy to release it on a 12" and sell it at $4.98 a copy. Times the $ by over one million copies and guess who was laughing all the way to the bank again in '85?
Rosanna Arquette played the character of Roberta, who was the lead actress and Madonna played Susan who was the supporting actress but when the movie came out it was dubbed the Madonna movie.
The song was voted by fans as the best dance song of the '80s, and she was also voted by fans at the same time as the artist of the decade (80's) for Billboard. And to this day she is still the best-selling female musical recording artist in history 👏
She was also fabulous in the movie of the musical Evita! You’re thinking of Desperately Seeking Susan with Rosanna Arquette. ❤ Peter Fabriel also write a live song to Rosanna: In Your Eyes. ( watch the live show from Secret World concert!
They say Peter Gabriel’s “In your eyes” is also about her. Never confirmed, never denied. If you haven’t, react to it, the Real World tour version is one of the best.
I loved how you gave context letting us know how you were familiar with her, the song and the movie. thank-you for sharing your memories. great reaction!
So fun to watch the reaction and actually this movie was very well received as her first movie film debut. It was one of the top rated movies of 1985 but the next two movies Shanghai surprise and who's that girl didn't do so well. It's always a fun movie to watch and I've actually dressed up like the character many times, with the jacket and everything such an iconic role! And the song is one of her greatest!
that was my jam back when i was 16, even though i was more into alternative rock. and i still copy that wavy hand movement 4:32 when i dance to this song. you just gotta.
Watch the live concert performance of this song from THE LIKE A VIRGIN TOUR…. THE QUEEN 👑👑👑 I would love to watch you react to her live concert performance of “LIKE A PRAYER” for the CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR TOUR …. her concerts are EPIC and give you major visuals …
Paitch from Toto wrote Rosanna and he needed a woman name. Rosanna at the time was Steve Porcaro's girlfriend, a very good actress. If you watch Toto's video Rosanna, the lady who dances is Cynthia Rhodes, Richard Marx's ex wife, who worked in movies like Flasdance, Staying Alive snd Firty Dancing...😊
Y’all…Desperately Seeking Susan is a CLASSIC - don’t get it twisted. It’s such a great film depicting a distinct part of 80’s New York City. Definitely of the zeitgeist 😉
"Easily" ?? I know this is just your opinion not necessarily a fact, but you need to go back and look at her catalog in the '80s. There have been so many great songs. Have you heard "live to tell" or "like a prayer?"
I remember when this was played heavy on MTV. Unfortunately, my music interests weren't really centered around pop. Love me some Disco but not Dance. -shrugs- Never said I was right Yeah, she was in that flick btw Edit: I thought the same about Roseanna for a long time but David Paich said it was about several girls he knew and they just went with the rumor. Sort of how it's believed Air Supply did a cover of, "Air That I Breathe" because they sound a lot alike the Hollies but no cover.
DAMN YO! THIS SISTA HAD A SERIOUS FREAKIN RUN OF HITS! THE CLUB! THE STREETS! THEN ROLLER SKATING RINKS! LITTLE HOOKUP HOT SPOTS WHERE IT WAS JUST 10 RANDOMLY PARKED CARS, A BUNCH OF YOUNG KIDS, DRUGS, BOOZE AND " WILIN OUT SON!" OH! AND DON'T FORGET THE NIGHTLIFE SON!
This was so the Bomb of Madonna songs! Still is! Madonna was so hot in her day...all the way around...FIRE!
THE QUEEN since 1983!!!!!! As the saying goes, pop music can be defined as "before Madonna and after Madonna"....
Who says that? Lol.
She's good, but I wouldn't give her that much credit. 😂

this is my favourite song by Madonna... there's a live version of 'Angel' that is something else -
I always loved her earlier, synth-funk dance hits like this and "Holiday."

This was supposed to be Rosanna's movie but Madonna (a newbie) stoled the show! The base is fire. So is Madonna's voice and delivery!
