That was a fantastic finish. I have no idea how Larry stays so calm and just "Larry" in moments when he's telling someone they wont get to untap. His table politics remind me of Rachel Weeks'. Hes all helping you with counters, and reminding you not to just pound the new guy into dust for a counter spell, then pulls some monster play from nowhere. Fabulous game.
Larry is my favorite in the show, i just cant stop watching his charismatic jokes with that dad stash and amazingly clunky but deadly decks with cards that no one plays.

I love how absolutely everyone, myself included, forgets that you can foretell at instant speed. (On your turn only, though.) It just never comes up! But in this game, it would've been a great use for that Braid of Fire mana...

I think Larry used Rielle's discard trigger twice in the same turn - Drew off the Key to the City discard trigger and then again off Echo of Eons. D: Only mentioning because 7 extra cards changes a lot
Go Snow Go Slow! ...except they sometimes print under costed stuff with the 'drawback' that you had to pay an extra $.50 for each of your Basic lands. Who knew there was a 3 mana Pestilence? Just crazy. But not as crazy as reusing Snow a couple times and still never printing a good hoser or two. Note, they printed Snow stuff first in Ice Age, a set that included such 'fun first' cards as Monsoon, so yeah, it's a bit 'weird' that they never hosed the snow, so to speak (should we perhaps not speak thusly??). I got good enough to get past a whole bunch of those abominable snowmen, they just keep coming I think, I kind of gave up after it got a bit boring. I also played too much Minesweeper... totally better than having a social life! Not sure if I put more time into Minesweeper or Vegas Solitaire, which quite firmly convinced me to never, ever gamble (it was so hard to break even, it was almost like the game was rigged or something, like 'the house always wins in the end' or something idk). I rather enjoyed the new (non-embarrassing) D&D movie as well, and I think you're right, that Izzet Dream Devourer is a great card, it's a lowkey Commander that can really take over a game if you play it right. Banding is actually a really good ability, it's more an issue that most creatures with it otherwise sucked, and most people couldn't grok the confusing ability. It's not actually that bad, it's just rather counterintuitive. I think they should make us a Banding Commander, but 'First Strike When Blocking' sounds a lot more like 'Bands With Badgers' or something, Bands With is SO MUCH worse than Banding, look it up!
This is a way fun game to watch. Love the synergy in the Izzet decks. I think it would have gone a bit different if Lynch had been using his braids mana to foretell though. That was killing me the whole video!
Didn't Larry missplay. He said he discard his hand to cast confligrate. Well that then triggers his commander that then is triggers the sub effect doubling it. Making him draw 60 cards Making him deckout before it resolved

So, how does Braid of Fire work exactly? As I understand it, mana phases out each stage. So BoF effectively only ever has 1 mana at upkeep, losing it before draw step if not used. So I don't think you can hold onto that mana. Like how Lynch used 2 mana from BoF to pay for the Bauble. I don't think it works that way. 11:06
Ok. So. When braid of fire was printed, mana burn still existed. You're partly correct. However baraid of fire is a cumulative upkeep card, the cost, is adding 1 red mana. Each upkeep it goes up to 2, then 3. Back when mana burn was a thing, it was a lot scarier. Now it just fizzles after leaving upkeep. So yes, it should go away in between steps and phases. If you pair this with a card like leyline tyrant, where you don't lose unspent red mana ad steps and phases end. You can effectively keep storing that mana as long as you control leyline tyrant.
For future reference when you copy a spell it isn't cast, so when you were casting spells from exile and copying them the copies would not have triggered the cast triggers of Passionate Archeologist or Keeper of Secrets. Still enjoyed this episode though, it's hard to keep track of everything in multiplayer commander games.

I don't think you "cast" spells from "copy"ing spells. So Nalfeshnee and the other will only trigger once, from the initial cast of Inspired Tinkering for it's foretell cost. The copied spells aren't "cast", otherwise grapeshot would be infinite.

I have a hard time telling what the power level rule is. Like do you guys try to pick decks of similar levels or do you just do what you want and heaven help whoever want able to get to the same level?
We try to match power levels once we have our group of players. By talking it out both on camera and off, we look at all the decks we brought and figure out the best pairings. Some people bring mainly higher power while others might bring lower, so we try to figure out depending on options who should go up or down.

You aren't paying for the Cumulative Upkeep Cost. The cost is per Age Counter that is on the card at the beginning of your upkeep but after the age counter is put on. You would have had to sacrifice it the second turn it was on the battlefield. Sorry dude :/

Red blue is probably my least favorite color combination, but holy smokes did Larry's deck look fun.

its a tough color combo, besides blas act, not many good boardwipes (i dont play cyc rift) and good luck dealing with enchantments

So braid of fire's mana has to be used during the upkeep prior to drawing a cars. So instants and abilities.
