The most beautiful thing about Mulder and Scully is that they found dozens of creative ways to say "I love you," without actually saying it.
Mulder telling Scully she's his soulmate. sigh. Only these two can share a tender moment in an episode about a giant bug monster.

The way he said that ''one in.... five billion'' was so sad and adorable, but also completely honest. Poor Mulder, they truly are the sweetest TV couple without cringy forced romances to appease the fans, you can see it. True soul mates.
So perfect to each other and so different. Maybe because they are so different they are soulmates. They are exactly opposites, they usually don't agree in a case, but when it comes to be there for each other, they are always there. They would risk everything for each other, they would also die to save the other.

There was never a couple like Scully and Mulder. Chris Carter started this dramatic arc between them since the pilot episode, and the scriptwriters, over the first eight seasons, have dedicated themselves to building a relationship based on friendship, devotion, respect and extreme affection. It is the most beautiful relationship that could exist and, I believe, will never be repeated in another series or film.

Just watched this episode last night. What a scene. This and the touchstone scene, pure magic.
FOLIE AU DEUX = a madness shared by two, with these 2 in their own little mad world where Mulder professes his devotion tied to a hospital bed with a horrific bug monster on the loose.
See, I look for chemistry like this in other TV couples, Lisbon and Jane, Brennan and Booth, Castle and Beckett. I never find it, only imitators trying recapture the magic. Only Ichabod and Abbie had anything close in the last years, but the less said about that the better. I guess Mulder and Scully are it, the gold standard that will never be equalled.
I watched all the series you mentioned,(except Sleepy Hollow) and I couldn't agree more. Mulder and Scully definitely will never be surpassed, uncanny chemistry! ❤️
Dont think another couple looks at each other the way M & S does, the glances the stares. They come together or step back with just a look, they pay so much attention to each others eyes and face that every emotion is conveyed and understood.
I don't know who could ever think that Lisbon and Jane are a good couple, they have absolutely 0 chemistry and their relationship is unhealthy
@@beresbailey1790 David said in an interview that when he was playing Mulder looking at Scully this way he didn't really have to act cause that was really the way he felt about Gillian. They seem to really love each other, not as lovers though.

Yes! When I started season 1, I thought in every episode "Cmon, maybe now they kiss" and... Nope. They clearly like each other from the first season. What in the first place was a crush, became love. And, knowing that you love each other, why can't you just kiss? No kiss until season 7? It's insane.
@@elisagiambartino3483 Saaame. I discovered the show not that long ago. And remember watching the pilot and immediately going, "oh c'mon! You can't tell me this is platonic?!?!?!" And I was like, "are you kidding me?!" When I looked up and saw they didn't kiss until season 7!
@@TheTardisDreamerIf it was a Netflic production, they would have sex in the third episode lol. But I kind of liked to wait for the kiss, because there was that sexual tension between them, all the looks, the flirts, the jokes... I liked to wait in the first four Season. Then, the kiss thing became an obsession and it was so annoyng not to see them kiss.

I don't think she fully understood what he meant. She's used to ignoring his comments that allude to something more, but he's all but said the words that she's his soulmate. She's the only person on the entire planet he would want to be with. I'm not sure you could do better than that if you tried.
She understood but it was always about timing for both of them.
It seems to me that Scully has always understood Mulder's affective statements. The problem is that, as she said in the series revival, it was an almost impossible relationship. She then holding her feelings for Mulder as much as she could. It also seems to me that she always wanted Mulder to admit unequivocally that loved her and would leave the impossible personal crusades to be together. That's exactly what we see at the end of the second part of "Existence", the final episode of the eighth season. So it seems clear that at some point in the second season (I think in "Irresistible"), both of them already knew about each other's feelings. There was only this tough game on both sides, which ended up being won by Scully, as said, in "Existence".
@@valerienaidoo3853 The next step after this, it's directly the "I love you" with this sentence, he means "I love you, you're my soulmate, I can trust nobody but you, you are the only one that I can trust". Anyway, I think she understood what he said... But she's almost ignoring it becouse she is afraid about the fact that she thought exactly the same things...she didn't wonna admits her love for Mulder.

Folie au Deux "Madness of Two" are we talking about the man and the monster or Scully and Mulder.........wow, I love this show and these characters.
The chemistry between these 2 make the series. This episode is very underrated. I prefer the monster episodes tho you rarely see Skinner or X on them which is a negative

This episode made me think that what if some people really can see evil creatures hiding behind a human form? And all those people get labeled as "delusional" or "schizophrenic" because no one else can see through the creature's disguise. Obviously I realize that such theory sounds completely insane, but what if.....
I think this one scene somes up the xfiles . The relationship between molder and Scully: to the show its self.

Scully was abducted,got cancer,lost her father and sister was murdered. She was punched on her face 3 times. Was trown agains the wall 3 x, got almost eaten up by a deadly shinning green like mosquito and acided by a fungus 6tf under. she got shot 3 times ..had a metal implanted on the back of her neck. got involved in 2 car crashes, had full contact fight with at least 3 monsters and 7 evil agents. she saw the Devil and 2 ghosts in front of her. Finally she saw Mulder either bainguing or kissing 3 women right in front of her eyes not to mention that she saved mulder´s ass in at least 22 occasions between the 1st and 6th season.. With all those FACTS and can say with all fairness:
"Dana Katherine Scully You are my all time favourite Xfile !! You deserved to be kissed !!

Mulder was good at the dramatic gesture, these words, rescuing her from the space ship etc, but on a day to day level he treated Scully progressively more terribly as the seasons went on. That’s the writers fault but when people talk about why Scully won’t admit she loves him, it fits that she wouldn’t want to love someone who made her so miserable. She should have married Skinner and gone into medicine.
