The breakdown part is taken from the melody of the Japanese nursery rhyme " Koganemushi". It is very typical of BABYMETAL to play a children's song with a brutal sound.
I love the live version of this song just because of how fun and energetic it is. Everyone looks like they're having so much fun, and the energy from the techno beat and dancing is so catchy and always makes me feel good. :)
This was one of my first expositions to them, a long time ago. I'm not a huge fan of the music video version, but Babymetal really has this talent of making even songs I don't particularly care(which are only a few, since I love about 95-96% of their songs) into songs I love when they're played live. This one is a prime example of that.
Great reaction video! I whas very curious about your review of Iine, couse it had so many changes in identity. When that hip-hop style started, i laughed so hard at your reaction it whas gold!! 😂 at first i didnt like it but it grew on me.
You are right with the hip/hop feel David. In the actual studio track, Yui & Moa are actually rapping that part instead of going "yo! yo! yo!". In their actual clip, they're wearing all kinds of rap/hiphop clothings with keychains. Then it transitions into this heavy-ass metal breakdown for laughs. That is one hell of a misleading track with a lot of surprises. You can tell they went like "how many genres would you like in this track? Yes." and they made it work. :D
I can just imagine you being given this track early on with BABYMETAL.. and you'd have been sat there for 10 minutes just shaking your head 😂 The crowd interaction is great on this one as the word/phrase shouted is generally changed up per venue.. like it was "Doomsday" here.. but often is the country/city/venue name
Watching you trying to follow Iine was nearly as entertaining as the show it's self! In the original MV the feel goes to rap, with Moa and Yui asking: Are you ready to hear more?" The drop in the MV is far more pronounced but I am so glad you were requested to watch this live version. I first discovered BabyMetal in early 2014. Watching this live DVD later in the year or it may of been early 2015 and the show in Brixton UK, completely sold me. You mentioned about the crowd interaction and the crowd response so you can understand that even from this early stage of their career, they were streets ahead in this respect. I believe now, you can understand the love fans have for BabyMetal? The idea that three teen girls singing in Japanese backed by an all male metal band could work at all, plus the hatred from certain metal fans towards them, could be successful so quickly, still amazes me, even after all these years. Probably in other reactions, you would have been told about the list of metal and rock bands photographed with Moa, Su and Yui, plus the respect they earned from the same bands, has all become part of the magic.
"Why bother filming in 8k?" BABYMETAL releases in 1920 x 1080 (Blu-ray). Everything higher than that is fan-made upscaling. Of course Iine! is from the 1st album. The train movement is so cute. Iine! is one of the songs multiple versions are worth reacting to. Yes, I'm talking about the MV. The MV of Iine! is an exception to the rule to always watch live versions. "What a crowd interaction." Almost all people are seated. That makes it even more impressive. "This song is having an identity crisis." This song transitions from hip hop to death metal in less than a second. To fully appreciate the hip hop part, watch the MV. "... I don't know how it fit ..." That confirms the songwriting is exceptional.
Actually I always play iine first then the rest of the album, for me that particular song is made the babymetal "babymetal", that's why they bring back the said song on their recent live shows. Since Yui left they never played that and the Death song also... And yeah I felt that identity crisis too back in the day 😅🤘
If I saw other metal bands performing Iine, I would feel weird, but BabyMetal performed Iine, and I feel very suitable. Little girls around 14 years old singing mixed music genre songs just made me think they were very cute. I'm even looking forward to their next album to make another song that mixes many different music genres. Although they are about 24 years old. But they are BabyMetal. They can make any music that is different from other metal bands. Thanks for your great reaction.
Hello Daivid! You know what I like about the diversity of reactions in the channel? Is that you talk already in the context of each band, haha I can't imagine your reaction to iine without knowing Babymetal haha But I really liked that you put the context and you got it right, this song is from the first album, and you already identified what made Babymetal special in that album, thanks for that. (and for the other bands not only BBM) PS: I laughed a lot about it being a song with a lack of identity hahaha because yep hahaha just like that, the same reaction we had when we first heard iine xD Greetings from Mexico. /o/
Love Iine! and i can't wait to see the proshot version at 2023 with MomoMetal, of course probably hits different without being so young like in this but that breakdown worth every time, i also wish you could react to official MV first, that brutal breakdown hits harder, either way thanks for sharing this David. Iine!🦊👍
They lean more into the hip hop in the studio version and original music video. Instead of call and response with the crowd, Su raps a little bit. I'm pretty surprised that this got such a good score. It's very much a hit and miss song even among the core fandom. The live version is definitely much heavier, and I enjoy it much more this way. This song is like a race car bolted and duct taped together from spare parts from a half dozen cars, miraculously hurtling across the finish line without falling apart. I'm sure you can see why this is often recommended to reaction channels for the "wtf" factor.
You have to watch the official music video of Iine to get the full effect. First, it shows how young they were when they recorded the video and has the rap scene that you usually don't see in live performances. There is a 2012 live version of Iine on Andy Rethmeier's channel that does the entire song as it is in the video. For me this song was a combo of metal, pop, rap, techno, EDM and dance that worked. The official music video is a real banger.
Haha, that was a great reaction ... I love the confused expressions (not just yours, everybody who reacts to this song) as they switch from one genre to another and then to another. Yes this was on the first album - it was one of the songs from their Sakura Gakuin days - in fact it was from 2011 and only the second song they released (after 'Doki Doki Morning') although they had played 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' before they released this. Well done to those people who told you not to fall into the trap of calling it Line - iine means something like 'so good' - like the thumbs up emoji 👍 They tore up all the rule books on what genres can go together in one song, wrote their own rules then tore those up as well. They were establishing very early on that they are going to do exactly as they want, so if they think EDM, hip hop, death metal and more EDM can go into one song, that's what they'll do. The chaos (schizophrenia?) was very deliberate (even the lyrics say so). They did do the hip hop part (you will have to watch the official video "Yo yo yo yo. Microphone check. One two one two. Are you ready to mosh? Kitsune da o!") in some live shows but more often they would replace that with a call and response with the crowd - as you saw here. It would be so good (iine👍) to see you watch the MV as well (and if you can find it the live from the 2011 Sakura Gakuin graduation show). The growling vocals in the death metal part (that has to be the best drop from hip hop to death metal ever, by the way - you should see the crowd shot with 55,000 people at Tokyo Dome all bowing to Su) are telling you they are not holding up the traditional metal devil horns or Maloik, they are showing the Kitsune.🦊
If you watch the studio-based official video, you are exactly right about the hip hop section. It is straight up hip hop with the girls decked out with bling and a rap section. Different than the live call back section but definitely hip hop.
The lyrics talk about how good (iine! 👍) it is to be at a party and leave the everyday cares behind for a while. And what you have is the sound track of music going through all the different genres that everyone brought and even the sound of leveling up in a video game.
Great reaction fair score.. Now you have to go watch the original version just to see the cutest darn rap ever... Can't wait til you hear Mirror Mirror off the new album... It goes everywhere as well but with way more maturity... Well done David... Thanks
this song was one of the original five songs they put out long before their first album, it is actually an "easter egg" they were telling the world that this band can do anything and will do anything, and their entire catalogue proves it, no two songs are the same out of sixty.
Hodgepodge Metal. Some times i think they put different ideas on a board then throw a handful of darts and what sticks is what gets into the track. But it works.
First album, best album 🙂. Back when they were their most fun, varied and experimental. And they absolutely had a few heavy songs even back then, like Babymetal Death and Rondo of Nightmare. All over the place is the best place to be 🙂 By the way, I think it would be a fun video if you made some sort of overview of the most memorable bands you've discovered doing these reaction videos, and what you really think of them. A compare and contrast kind of thing. Guess you could even do some sort of rating, if you think people might be more likely to click a video like that. Maybe give us your Top 10 Japanese Metal Bands, if you've seen enough of them to make that work.
Yep. You got it right David. On their MV of this song, the girls actually rap on the hip hop fields. Also, Iine is their one of the earliest songs. I happy that you actually liked the song and happy with the score. 👍👍👍
iine! is so much fun. 😄 It's always been a crowd favorite, and everyone was happy they played it at PIA this April, which quieted all the naysayers that said Babymetal planned to put their kawaii behind them.Yes, you felt correctly on the hip hop feel. The band almost always plays louder than the backing track in concerts, so every song they have hits harder live than on the album. First album track list 1. Babymetal Death 2. Megitsune 3. Gimme Chocolate!! 4. Iine! 5. Akatsuki 6. Doki Doki ☆ Morning 7. Onedari Daisakusen 8. Song 4 9. Uki Uki ★ Midnight 10. Catch Me If You Can 11. Rondo of Nightmare 12. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! 13. Ijime, Dame, Zettai
I love Babymetal, I do...but I would say that this song is one that they unfortunatly can't do this one justice anymore. They made this back in the day when they were preteens, and it greatly benefits from that childish innocence - it really does amplify the feels and impact all the way from the WTF moment of them rapping to what then becomes a super heavy metal drop. I think it's because adults raping/singing is taken more seriously, and this song in particular needs that playfullness as that is what it turns on it's head with the metal portion of this. Which is a shame, because it really does highlight exactly what Babymetal is all about - it's about fusing different kinds of music with metal, not just j-pop. All the way from Shanti shanti to different genras of metal like road of resistance. Awesome review though, David. I really do love your reviews, from the bottom of my heart - thank you. They brighten my day every time I see them, and some, like "the one" and "road of resistance" to name a few are so good that I can re-watch them time and time again, and STILL have them brighten my day, even though I know both of those two by heart at this point. Keep up the amazing work that you do, and again - thank you!
Man they were so small. I always looked at this as their love letter to the multiple genres of music. Like when a 10 year old gets super invested into something. It's probably my least favorite 'popular' song of theirs, but it always had the feel of when a young kid explains why they love a certain show, toy, or item so much. Just happened to be about music in general. The music video for this one is also just as crazy and wild as the song structure.
Well you certainly can't say Babymetal didn't experiment as this definitely fits into that WTF moment lol. However, by doing so, i feel it led us to the brilliant BxMxC, which came later. However, in between these out in left field tracks lead to moments of absolute perfection!! As in the case of Kagerou with (Kami Band Intro) Live compilation. 🔥🎸🔥 Babymetal doesn't perform "Line!" anymore obviously. However, it does show just how far they have come over the last decade here!! Good honest reaction as always!! 🤘🦊💕
@W Z Thanks for the correction here. It's not performed often, though. Along with Tales of Destinies and I wish they would bring back Rondo of Nightmare. 🔥🎸🔥 At least they performed From Dusk Till Dawn at Budokan back during their 10th anniversary performance. Catch Me If You Can not sure if that is still performed but would bring the house down. Any song about hide & seek needs to be a staple here lol. Babymetal has some great tracks which is all the more reason they need their own headline tour. It's one of my frustrations at present here. 🤘💕🦊
Excellent reaction and review, thanks David. I was a little afraid of your reaction to this one since "Iine" is considered their craziest song ever. I guess the live version helped because the studio track sounds even crazier without the band playing live and has the full hip hop section instead of the call and response. Anyway, this was released as their second song (officially, since "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" was the actual second chronologically) and the styles mixture was totally intended here, unlike "IDZ" which is straight power metal. Probably because they didn't want to be pigeonholed in one genre. Until next time!
This song took a few listens to really appreciate. It's a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns and sneakily heavy especially live. Hey David are you going to see them when they tour the states this summer?🦊🤘
This is song No 1 they released for trying to get the Jpop fans over to metal. I think the idea was great and as it turned out so did millions of others now.
I can only imagine how David is going to react to this one, knowing how he feels about their more quirky kawaii songs. Iine like a number of their most kawaii songs, is such a fun song to be a part of at a live performance. I got to see it live for the first time at Clear Night and it was such a shock because none of us thought they would ever play it live again.
Probably in the head of Babymetal in 2012: We have only made a single song and you are already trying to pigeionholing us? Well, good luck, here is our next song. =)
You finally got to iine..about time, couldnt wait to see this to happen. Still, i prefer the MV just because of their hiphop part...reaction was good, no surprise there
There is an actual official MV for this, you might check that out for a cleaner blend of the music. You asked what is いいね!that is hiragana letters which are as you prononced iine. I actually can speak japanese. In the MV the breakdown is a flat out rap and hip hop, with a costume change to look like american rappers from the 90s or something. It is on the MV and hilarious. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs because it is insane, with all the genres, just fun like the Black Metal songs. Though completely unrelated, the new Metalizm song they have on their latest album is really good. Still amazing those teen girls can completely control 1000s in an audience to the level of cult members and now they are around 25 yrs and still do it and I am one of the cult members lol.
Sometimes just seeing the girls have so much fun performing a song... flashing those priceless smiles, makes the song 1000X better. This is just a fun song and very catchy per usual. 🤘🦊🤘
It's very normal to think there is a hip-hop feel during the call and response part. I suggest you go watch the original MV for the song and you'll definitly see it.
Personally I like the studio version better, the changes of genres are very marked and only the Breakdown is the metal part in the whole song which makes it much more remarkable than this live version that has guitars throughout the song, although the breakdown is still brutal it is less shocking :P
I think I almost got to the point to get your pointing gut feel I thought you were going to give it an 8.5 you know I was so close. I tend to play a game with your reactions where I try to guess your pics and I am almost getting there. I still loved this song as always frmo the girls, I am so happy to see Momo joining the team, what do you think about it?
Fun facts about this song: - This song is indeed off their first album. - On the studio version, the "hip hop: section you referred to is actually a rap. - In an early interview with the Kami Band, they said this was one of their favorite.songs to play live. - In a video reaction, Su said that her opening scream in this song was very difficult to do.
It's only got a thousand views because this is a "remaster" of a clip taken from a DVD. It's a copy of a copy. The original OFFICIAL video has over 19 million views.
It wasn´t recorded in 8 K somebody upscaled that. In 2014 there was no camera in the world that was able to record 8k within these light conditions. And this is actually their 2nd song. Came out in 2012 before the first album right after Doki Doki Morning. At the time the song came out the Kami band didn´t exist yet. It´s probably the most hated song by the pure metal fans within the Babymtal fans.
Oh yeah! My requested song. That so nice to see. I love that song. That genre and style changing make this song so refreshing even now. Fun to watch and listen. "Iine" was 2nd single from first album released in 2012. Great reaction and review. Fun to watch. Thank you.
Wow you never fail to surprise me. I didn't expect you to rate it that high. They recently played Iine for the first time in a long during the concert in April.
Another unexpected reaction! I expected you would suffer, saying this song is Doki Doki Morning part 2. Actually, it is because it was their 2nd song in their history. I'm glad to see you enjoying it The only song you have not listened to yet in the first album is "Onedari Daisakusen." I hope it is coming soon.
Nice reaction. The song from the first album that let everyone know what was going to come. Definitely hip-hop break section. In the MV they even changed their clothes to match. At the end of that section, I think it's Moa who says "This isn't metal? No And then we get that heavy drop. As if to answer Moa's question. Now this is metal. They go through so many styles and they're giving the iine thumbs up it's good to all of it. And later we'll get all those styles mixed into their songs. In the music video there's a spot where they were told to dance freely. Moa way back then had her own made-up dance. Seaweed. Where she would wave her body as if it was seaweed moving in the water. Moa snuck it in there. Moa showed it off during an interview in Japan. Su's face was funny as she seemed like she had that oh here we go again face. All together this is just a fun song, and the crowd interaction always jumps it up. The song did its job though. After this song fans learned Don't think, just let Babymetal take you on a journey through sight and sound. And they're still at it.
Trust your instincts, David-Metal-San, it's Hip Hop!😉 Yes it's an identity crisis in a concert... いいね! Some craziness never hurt in a concert and it's just fun.😁 Good reaction once again and a fair score in my opinion! We know you have love in your heart for them. Also if you want to really feel the identity crisis, the MV for this song is a must!😎🤘🦊🤘 Greetings from Germany!
only Babymetal can blend so many styles in the same song and still be good at it. rock. pop. rap. metal. edm. club. etc. this was second song release they did. they were at this point still didnt have a true direction for them since it was still just an experiment. best version of this song is from Wembley 2016. to see UK metalheads loving this song. true fans know the importance of this song.
19:48 As someone with ADD, that cracked me up. 😆I hadn't thought about it from previous listens, but this is a song I could probably come back to regularly without getting tired of it. On the other hand, and as another Babymetal example, I still enjoy Kagerou because the groove is really strong (and because I get shades of folk from the chorus).
Once upon a time this whole Baby Metal thing started out as a metal themed alt-idol, crazy idea. I think it started out with a couple of videos backed by some session musicians. How the whole thing blew up in popularity, is one of the more unlikely stories in popular music. They have become something of an institution.
👍 👍 This was their second song released after Doki Doki Morning. They were experimenting with all kinds of music and all kinds of genres BUT they were not (in my opinion) just throwing things up against the wall to see what would stick. There was a method to their madness. Shock and awe with the crowd learning just how important they are to these girls and their Kami’s. And the crowd loves them for it (it is one of the many reasons that to this very day The One is strong) Until next time.
iine means "it's good". But it's also used as "to like". As in "the like button", or "I like it!". And yeah, 1st album. After that hip-hop break, when Su says "put your Kitsune up!!" it gets really heavy, the gutural says: "It's not the (devil's) horns, it's the Fox sign!" And the score? That caught me totally off guard! I'm getting used to how you evaluate BM, but I was expecting something along the lines of upper 7s, 8 max. Good to know you liked it! Can't wait to see your reaction to "Tales of the Destinies"... It's by far my least favourite song byt BM... But a good song nonetheless. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
I believe I've already done a reaction to Tales Of The Destinies, and unfortunately it was blocked by Amuse. I have it posted up on the Patreon page if you wanna check it out, totally up to you.
@@THEDavidHeretic oh, ok. Hope you liked it! Wish I could, but I would be paying in foreign currency, and I'm not in a position to, rn. Things are getting better, though, so I'll join it, eventually! =/
Iine! Baby metal Song:- Iine!, is pronounced [ee-ney] not Line. This is Babymetal experimenting with different genre, possibly the most genre into one song. Japanese rave, hip-hop, death metal in one song and EDM. Babymetal can do it all. "BxMxC" is the upgraded version of "Iine". BxMxC is from their 3rd album Metal Galaxy. I was watching Netflix on my phone and I saw a notification that you were reviewing the song and said Uh Oh he might not really get into this but this was a live version instead of the official video the official video actually in that halftime area is actually bass style driven and they are super young in the official video they look like the youngest I seen besides Doki Doki morning but nevertheless I still love this song equally to babymetal songs once again BABYMETAL is my true favorite of bands I listen to all styles of music but hard rock and heavy metal are my favorite I also play drums I’ve stated before and I try my best to keep up with him but damn he has legs of steel that I can’t keep up laugh out loud thank you David for all the great work you do I especially love watching over and over your tears for some of their videos it really tickles me that you get into it that much I do the same my wife thinks I’m a nut job ha ha and also I have three tickets for me my wife and youngest son who is 17 for the babymetal concert in Orlando Florida September 2 it will be my first time seeing them live I am so excited I can’t wait for the day once again if you read all this thanks everybody stay metal and be safe👉🦊👈🤘🤘
@@BamaMatters11 I actually do voice text so I do t really correct much unless it’s words. But even then sometimes I miss that if I don’t have reading glasses on Take care
Yes! Iine is one of my favourite if not my favourite song from Babymetal :D It's indeed from their first album, and it's actually the second song they made a MV for (even thought Ijime, Dame, Zettai debuted live first) In the studio version, the part that had the half time feeò, is actually a rap part! They dropped that in almost all of their live shows keeping the hip-hop tempo to engage with some crowd interaction, before going into that brutal Breakdown! I wish you saw the MV first, because even thought you would have probably scored it less, the Rap part and then the Heavy Breakdown hit so much harder, and people's expressions to that are always hilarious xD But yours was still good enough ahahah After 2017 they stopped playing this song, and we thought they retired it (since is much more childish), but they surprisingly played it again at the Pia Arena in Yokohama in March, so happy to see it :D Good job reading comments and calling it with the right name xD 95% of reactors call it Line, so much that it's became a meme in the Babymetal Community! Even Amazon Music has it listend as "Line" 🤣🤣🤣
oh no...oh no no no...ii ne. I was hoping you would overlook this (thank god you didn't watch the video. you would have punched your monitor). ii ne is basically a guilty pleasure. Only a babymetal fan can appreciate it, but not a growing fan..just a fan that knows what these girls can do..then you stumble across this and chuckle. Not something you introduce people with. Its basically the Judas Priest style just fun song, not really meant to be taken seriously as their best works...or even good. Watch the official video though..rapping, clubbing...you're right. total identity crisis...but fun.
Every Babymetal song is different to the next. This is the only Babymetal song that is different to itself.
the official video version is even more identity crisis and the rap part missing from the live version is their top WTF is going on moment
The breakdown part is taken from the melody of the Japanese nursery rhyme " Koganemushi". It is very typical of BABYMETAL to play a children's song with a brutal sound.
I have been a fan for years, but I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info!
@@MacTaipan 🤘😄💙
So, how many genre do u want in the song?
Babymetal: YES! 😅
They are truly fearless with their experimentation.
When I read that in my mind I read "yes" with the same inflection/tone as the "no" Su famously said when asked about writing their own songs.
8:59 I mean, you nailed it on the hip hop feel. Watch the original music video
I love the live version of this song just because of how fun and energetic it is. Everyone looks like they're having so much fun, and the energy from the techno beat and dancing is so catchy and always makes me feel good. :)
I love how open-minded you are to this band, thank you! 😄
OMG I've been waiting years for this reaction 🤘🤘🦊🦊
In the Top Ten of the Reactor’s comments on Babymetal: “I don’t know how this fits toguether, but it does” 😂
You are right with the hip/hop feel David.
Loved the part (studio track & music video) where they rap after the Yo's = Microphone Check 1,2 1,2 are you ready to Mosh?
I can just imagine you being given this track early on with BABYMETAL.. and you'd have been sat there for 10 minutes just shaking your head 😂
The crowd interaction is great on this one as the word/phrase shouted is generally changed up per venue.. like it was "Doomsday" here.. but often is the country/city/venue name
This is one of their oldest songs as it was done before they split off from Sakura Gakuin, alone with 3 others all found on the first album.
"Why bother filming in 8k?"
BABYMETAL releases in 1920 x 1080 (Blu-ray).
"What a crowd interaction."
Almost all people are seated. That makes it even more impressive.
"This song is having an identity crisis."
This song transitions from hip hop to death metal in less than a second. To fully appreciate the hip hop part, watch the MV.
"... I don't know how it fit ..."
That confirms the songwriting is exceptional.
When I listening to my Babymetal playlist and came a cross Iine its quite refreshing tbh
Great reaction as always
Actually I always play iine first then the rest of the album, for me that particular song is made the babymetal "babymetal", that's why they bring back the said song on their recent live shows. Since Yui left they never played that and the Death song also... And yeah I felt that identity crisis too back in the day 😅🤘
Babymetal = Entertainment. Pure and simple. Luv them!!
Would probably never voluntarily play this song but every time I come across it I don’t skip cause it’s as contagious as a child’s laughter 😅
This is one of the best Techno Hip-Hop Metal Dance tunes ever. Actually, it's the only one. 🦊🤘🤘🦊
Is that you talk already in the context of each band, haha I can't imagine your reaction to iine without knowing Babymetal haha
But I really liked that you put the context and you got it right, this song is from the first album, and you already identified what made Babymetal special in that album, thanks for that. (and for the other bands not only BBM)
PS: I laughed a lot about it being a song with a lack of identity hahaha because yep hahaha just like that, the same reaction we had when we first heard iine xD
Greetings from Mexico. /o/
🤣 the confusion on your face epic 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Really fun reaction to a really fun song!
Love Iine! and i can't wait to see the proshot version at 2023 with MomoMetal, of course probably hits different without being so young like in this but that breakdown worth every time, i also wish you could react to official MV first, that brutal breakdown hits harder, either way thanks for sharing this David.
Well done to those people who told you not to fall into the trap of calling it Line - iine means something like 'so good' - like the thumbs up emoji 👍
They tore up all the rule books on what genres can go together in one song, wrote their own rules then tore those up as well.
The one and I when we listen to Line! 💃
WOW awesome review of this song :) you get it 100% what I feel in this song. Honestly, I lovin it so much for such variety :)
This is my fav BM song :)
The lyrics talk about how good (iine! 👍) it is to be at a party and leave the everyday cares behind for a while. And what you have is the sound track of music going through all the different genres that everyone brought and even the sound of leveling up in a video game.
No matter what, you had the best smile from start to finish with your head banging away with joy. And you're still smiling.
Yeah, that drop and how they interacted with the audience def felt hip hop
Babymetal getting people’s attention 🤘💥 Love this song
Great reaction fair score.. Now you have to go watch the original version just to see the cutest darn rap ever... Can't wait til you hear Mirror Mirror off the new album... It goes everywhere as well but with way more maturity... Well done David... Thanks
The official video the girls look soooo much younger. It was filmed way before this concert.
this song was one of the original five songs they put out long before their first album, it is actually an "easter egg" they were telling the world that this band can do anything and will do anything, and their entire catalogue proves it, no two songs are the same out of sixty.
All over the place is the best place to be 🙂
By the way, I think it would be a fun video if you made some sort of overview of the most memorable bands you've discovered doing these reaction videos, and what you really think of them.
Going back to the beginning of BM. It grew on me overtime.
Wow, I thought you went through all the BM classics. Great to see!
Only missing Onedari Daisakusen now I think from first album.
iine! is so much fun.
First album track list
1. Babymetal Death
2. Megitsune
3. Gimme Chocolate!!
4. Iine!
5. Akatsuki
6. Doki Doki ☆ Morning
7. Onedari Daisakusen
8. Song 4
9. Uki Uki ★ Midnight
10. Catch Me If You Can
11. Rondo of Nightmare
They recently did Iine at the April show. I am really looking forward to see how they do it now.
Babymetal doesn't perform "Line!" anymore obviously. However, it does show just how far they have come over the last decade here!! Good honest reaction as always!! 🤘🦊💕
They actually performed iine again on clear night in April!
@W Z Thanks for the correction here. It's not performed often, though. Along with Tales of Destinies and I wish they would bring back Rondo of Nightmare. 🔥🎸🔥
At least they performed From Dusk Till Dawn at Budokan back during their 10th anniversary performance. Catch Me If You Can not sure if that is still performed but would bring the house down. Any song about hide & seek needs to be a staple here lol.
Babymetal has some great tracks which is all the more reason they need their own headline tour. It's one of my frustrations at present here. 🤘💕🦊
Glad you liked it.
This is like a Movie Trailer of all they future songs 😂
🍅💀🍅
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Sentimetal night!
This song took a few listens to really appreciate. It's a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns and sneakily heavy especially live. Hey David are you going to see them when they tour the states this summer?🦊🤘
If we can work it into the budget, I'd love to take Mrs. Heretic to see them.
This is song No 1 they released for trying to get the Jpop fans over to metal. I think the idea was great and as it turned out so did millions of others now.
pls official MV😁😁😁
It's better to watch the normal version as it actually has the hip hop section left in they changed it for the live performance
Probably in the head of Babymetal in 2012:
We have only made a single song and you are already trying to pigeionholing us?
That's was my introduction to Babymetal, imagine what happened to my innocent mind when I heard Iine for the first time😂
Personally I like the studio version better, the changes of genres are very marked and only the Breakdown is the metal part in the whole song which makes it much more remarkable than this live version that has guitars throughout the song, although the breakdown is still brutal it is less shocking :P
Time will tell.
Absolutely their wierdest one, music video is even goofier haha. But yeah still kinda catchy xD
Babymetal death creo que le va a gustar aya yai saludos

Fun facts about this song:
- This song is indeed off their first album.
The Iine video is actually pretty fun
It wasn´t recorded in 8 K somebody upscaled that. In 2014 there was no camera in the world that was able to record 8k within these light conditions. And this is actually their 2nd song. Came out in 2012 before the first album right after Doki Doki Morning. At the time the song came out the Kami band didn´t exist yet. It´s probably the most hated song by the pure metal fans within the Babymtal fans.
i can say this song is quite a field day for a guitarists 🤣🤣
Oh yeah! My requested song. That so nice to see. I love that song. That genre and style changing make this song so refreshing even now. Fun to watch and listen.
"Iine" was 2nd single from first album released in 2012.
Great reaction and review. Fun to watch. Thank you.
We are BABYMETAL and we play BABYMETAL music. Genres mean nothing, 😂
I just can't predict what you will enjoy lol. I thought you would hate this and it would make me laugh.
I also thought he would hate this song🤣
Agreed I though he would rate it near the bottom of BM songs lol.
Wow you never fail to surprise me. I didn't expect you to rate it that high. They recently played Iine for the first time in a long during the concert in April.
BTW, that hip hop section is totally hip hop on the album.
I'm a Kitsune but totally hate this song. This and Doki Doki morning. Guess Koba didn't think they'd be big outside Japan.
Great
It's nice to see that you enjoyed both PaPaYa and Iine even with them being a bit sillier songs!
This is the song that BABYMETAL is all about 😁.
Another unexpected reaction! I expected you would suffer, saying this song is Doki Doki Morning part 2. Actually, it is because it was their 2nd song in their history. I'm glad to see you enjoying it
The only song you have not listened to yet in the first album is "Onedari Daisakusen." I hope it is coming soon.
Trust your instincts, David-Metal-San, it's Hip Hop!😉
Yes it's an identity crisis in a concert... いいね!
Some craziness never hurt in a concert and it's just fun.😁
Good reaction once again and a fair score in my opinion!
We know you have love in your heart for them.
Also if you want to really feel the identity crisis, the MV for this song is a must!😎🤘🦊🤘
Greetings from Germany!
only Babymetal can blend so many styles in the same song and still be good at it. rock. pop. rap. metal. edm. club. etc. this was second song release they did. they were at this point still didnt have a true direction for them since it was still just an experiment. best version of this song is from Wembley 2016. to see UK metalheads loving this song. true fans know the importance of this song.
They have become something of an institution.
anyone that know this song who watch and listening live will go crazy from the start of the song.
this is when Babymetal wants to party :)
👍 👍
This was their second song released after Doki Doki Morning.
They were experimenting with all kinds of music and all kinds of genres BUT they were not (in my opinion) just throwing things up against the wall to see what would stick.
There was a method to their madness.
Shock and awe with the crowd learning just how important they are to these girls and their Kami’s. And the crowd loves them for it (it is one of the many reasons that to this very day The One is strong)
Until next time.
Not only was this first album, it was their second song and from the Sakura Gakuin period.
iine means "it's good".
But it's also used as "to like". As in "the like button", or "I like it!".
And yeah, 1st album.
After that hip-hop break, when Su says "put your Kitsune up!!" it gets really heavy, the gutural says:
"It's not the (devil's) horns, it's the Fox sign!"
And the score?
=/
Not sure where this version came from but it sounds like it was recorded from the bottom of a trash can unfortunately.
Iine! Baby metal Song:-
Iine!, is pronounced [ee-ney] not Line. The happiness and smiles that this 3 Japanese 🇯🇵 kawaii metal 🤘 monster ladies is awesome. The music is just raw and chaotic.

I don't like this song very much but it's a classic and defines Babymetal❤💪
Try punctuation next time. Trust me it makes a difference.
@@BamaMatters11 I actually do voice text so I do t really correct much unless it’s words. But even then sometimes I miss that if I don’t have reading glasses on Take care
What can I say, you end the song happier than when it began, and that's what really matters. Peace.
Crunchiest bubble gum pop song ever. The band drowning out the sound track isn't a negative.
Yes! Iine is one of my favourite if not my favourite song from Babymetal :D
It's indeed from their first album, and it's actually the second song they made a MV for (even thought Ijime, Dame, Zettai debuted live first)
In the studio version, the part that had the half time feeò, is actually a rap part! They dropped that in almost all of their live shows keeping the hip-hop tempo to engage with some crowd interaction, before going into that brutal Breakdown!
I wish you saw the MV first, because even thought you would have probably scored it less, the Rap part and then the Heavy Breakdown hit so much harder, and people's expressions to that are always hilarious xD
But yours was still good enough ahahah
After 2017 they stopped playing this song, and we thought they retired it (since is much more childish), but they surprisingly played it again at the Pia Arena in Yokohama in March, so happy to see it :D
Good job reading comments and calling it with the right name xD
95% of reactors call it Line, so much that it's became a meme in the Babymetal Community!
First Babymetal song I didn't like
