    Nice video. Thanks
    I love my JVM410HJS through a Marshall 1960av 1960bv full stack. If I had to choose only one amp this is it.

    My Friend has these 2 and LOVES them both!!! IMO these are the Ultimate amps from these 2 companies! THE ULTIMATE Mesa and the Ultimate MARSHALL...I have the Marshall and no other one I have owned or heard can touch it.

    I think Satch prefers sterile clean channels in order to use it with pedals. The clean on the Peavey JSX was similar.

    • @philfrank5601
      @philfrank5601 4 года назад

      Virtually identical on those two amps: Green Clean JSX and, oddly enough, Clean Green on the HJS. And for the exact reason you mention, perfectly clean for use of distortion pedals. You can still get a good clean tone out of it though, by using a compressor like Joe mentions in the manual.

    The difference is also in the speakers and cab with regards to the clean channels.

    Back a little of the highs and mid's off the Marshall. But vs between the two! I have played both amps and great comparisons. Marshall.

    Okay well. Like, You really didn’t have to do all that for those of us that already know that MesaBoogie and Marshall together are nuclear fission. We learned this through being Metallica fans. Two guitarists doing the same riffs each on one of each. Fat to the full. One fills in the holes for the other and vice versa. They’re the perfect marriage so much it makes You wonder of the two manufacturers conspired and if Metallica are co conspirators. If so that would be the most beautiful conspiracy ever in music and we couldn’t Love all accomplices more for that. Your long drawn out comparison did offer some insights and for that we thank You so much. Thanks rock and roll brother and keep the rocks rolling

    Yep that's exactly it, these are two different, modern amps that both sound great. Will say Ch 2 on the JP was pretty darn impressive for crunch... don't recall the Mk V's Ch 2 sounding like that.

    • @SaintFredrocks

      Put a MM OT in it, and the Marshall will do a lot more.

    • @mickeymice2004
      @mickeymice2004 4 года назад

      @@SaintFredrocks It has an amazing OT in it!! This isn't an original JVM. Don't change anything inside the Satriani head. Nothing will make the OG JVM sound like the Satch head. He is right, but no the Mesa can't get "THE" Marshall sound... it can get a "Marshall-esque" sound though, and he is right about the Marshall can not do a "Mesa-esque" metal sound!! So he has a point!!

    Play a Mesa Mark II or Mark III. They have all the organic thing going on- similar tone but WAY more open & 3D. Here's a vid I did a number of years ago between a III and a JP that is full of condenser mic clipping, but still the difference is so clear that it gets the point across.

    I had that Marshall JVM 410 JS head for about a year...I sold it because it just wasn't doing it for me personally..I found the standard Marshall JVM 410 head far more flexible and just better sounding IMO !

      @@SaintFredrocks The trick with the standard JVM 410 is the gain should never go up above 10-11 o'clock on the dial when using the OD channels ..Just accept this fact and you won't get mushy or feedback..Best amp !

    So to throw a cat amongst the pigeons,bring in a FriedmanBE100-Deluxe...and see how it compares?😁

    • @heythere6983
      @heythere6983 2 года назад

      I was considering the Friedman vs the jvm a few years ago, playing the Friedman in person I quickly realized it’s too smooth and tame . I got the Marshall instead and I hadn’t even played it in person.
      My instinct was right though, the Marshall just has more grit and grind. Friedman are smoother and mesas are smoother than Friedman’s , atleast the ones I’ve played . Mesas are very saturated and silky compared to a marshall . The Friedman’s are too polite if you’re really going for a marshall rasp

    @rmTheWalrus 4 года назад +1

    You mention "just go watch the John Petrucci videos for a demo of the Mesa", but I have to be honest... from what I remember of those videos, you have dialed a better lead tone on it than he had ;) To each his own and all that... I should say "more pleasing to my own ear"... anyway, I think that lead tone you got out of it is killer.

    nah that Satriani amp was a flop..the clean channel is spiky as hell and almost unusable..The Crunch channel is the best but the OD channels are not quite Eq'd right and have this upper treble weirdness..the JCM 800 OD channels..nowhere near close to what a firebreathing JCM 800 can do...I had the amp for a year and the standard JVM kicked its ass..sorry dude..but YOU will end up selling that Marshall..

    • @mickeymice2004
      @mickeymice2004 4 года назад +1

      The original JVM doesn't even sound like an 800, it sounds like a hifi digital modeled 800! you have never heard a firebreathing 800, nor owned the Satriani head. If you did, and I'm wrong, something was wrong with your Satriani amp! There is no treble weirdness in the 410HJS and it has presence and resonance knobs that are extremely usable. You either had a lemon with a problem, or you only own the original and are trying to trash on something you don't own and never have. I owned both, NOBODY would say what you said in context of a "firebreathing" JCM800 (you sound like you've never owned that either to be honest) vs the original JVM lol not even deaf people. The Satriani head is spot on to what it claims to be!! The JVM was NOT even close, which is why there are entire forums to modding it to make it sound like the company who made it.
