    That 6-spd transmission is one of the standout features of the CX-5 IMO...it doesn't hunt for gears like almost all 8 to 10 speeds do today. It's also very well balanced with the 2.5l motor...they are very well matched and pleasant to drive.

    As a CX5 owner and resident of the northeast where roads are notoriously terrible, I think where the CX5 has the upper hand is in ride refinement. Yes, a Forester is very soft and cushy, but the ride doesn't feel settled and sharp impacts are loud and harsh in the cabin. While the Mazda is stiffer and you feel some more bumps, it settles down very quickly, NEVER feels harsh, and remains quiet even over the worst roads.

In 12 minutes, I learned everything I needed to learn about this car, including bits of info no other reviewer (that I've seen) mentioned like the fact cylinder deactivation would not be offered shortly because of parts availability, which is great news for those who hate it (myself included!) Just picked up a 2024 CX5 select, to replace my 2021, CX5 Sport, I just love this vehicle for all the reasons you out lined. The interesting thing was the car did not have cylinder deactivation in it, which I was extremely happy about , because it was the one option on the car that I thought was standard, and it didn’t have it, I don’t like that option at all., its annoying and it most certainly wears out starter and battery and other accessories quicker, engineers said at the beginning that it did not, but most long range test have most certainly proved it does, how could it not ,you’re starting and stopping the car constantly if you gave it on. Love my CX5 and the 2024 was such a deal for $30,000 and now 0% financing for 60 months ,how could you not love it? Great car and I want to hang onto this one for a while, I average about 18,000 miles a year, so want a good car that can handle it..

    We just bought one. It doesn’t have quite as many options, the technology or the room as the Kia Sportage EX at the same price. The Kia takes nuisance bumps better as well.
    That being said, it is more fun to drive and exudes a more “luxurious feel” inside. It has what we wanted: Drivers power seat, heated seats, separate cabin climate controls and a load of safety features. The sound system is very good and the infotainment system is adequate for most people, like us.
    Every aspect of his review, is quite accurate.

    We got a 2024 S Select with 5k miles at the dealership. It was a loaner car. Looks and even smells new with an MSRP that was 26k as opposed to the 2024 / 2025’s new ones at $30,5-30,9k. I am proud of us stumbling on it!
    We wanted a compact SUV for my wife. We went to Honda, only the HR-V would cost similar but would of been a downgrade (too slow and basic). The CR-V too expensive. Toyota: too expensive… basic LE RAV4 for an MSRP of 26k would be something with over 45 thousand miles on it.
    So, we stumbled literally upon Mazda. Last but not least: CX-50 vs 5-> Thought the CX-50 was “wow” because it looks very cool. Test drove both: I felt the CX5 simply better… better in the cabin (commodity), better drive feel (softer), better vissibility… I thought I was crazy but confirmed I was not after digging: CX-5 has its reputation built for the past 8-9 y, CX-50 just born 2023… Cx 5 made in Japan, with better rear suspension, more luxury interior… etc. If you will not be going crazy in the outdoors like 97% of you, CX-5 probably the best option.

      In most vehicles, auto stop start doesn’t trigger if you are light on the brake pedal when stopped. You usually have to press the brake pedal past a threshold to trigger the engine stop.
      Just don’t press down so hard on the brake pedal when stopped and then you don’t have to remember to deactivate it each time you start the engine.
      It’s also usually deactivated when driving in Sport mode.

      Nissan did the same thing with the Rogue: no annoying stop start in the redesigned 2021 and 2022 but for 2023 they added that auto stop start, very unnecessary because the vehicle (has turbo) gets over 30 mpg overall. I wonder if adaptive cruise really is standard even with this base trim.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  Год назад +2

      It's not a failure, it's just not as fun or as good at the details. The cx-50's bigger backseat and slightly more forgiving ride are two important advantages it has. Still a strong competitor in the class. I don't know when the CX-5 will meet its demise or if it gets redesigned. With the CX-70 coming (2025 MY, spring release 2024), I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of the CX-5, even if that is a dumb move sales-wise.

      Does it run has it failed you? If so was it an easy fix?
