@@evasmith2705 1918 was the year that Austro-Hungarian empire tumbled down, Slovakia was not given to anybody by anyone and neither was Czechia, this empire was tumbled down because of it´s loss in WW1 and all the countries that were under it´s domination could finally be separated again. @ Attila Tas Ciko : Keep dreaming Mr. Attila !!!! Hungary was ruled for over 150 years by the Turks. So remember ! Slovakia will be Hungarian, when Hungary will be Turkish, meaning - NEVER !!!! Just because your ancestors came in, uninvited mind you, built a few castles , levied extraorbitant taxes on Slovak people, and called it Felvidek, meaning - Upper Hungary, for Peat's sake. And remember, When Turkey ruled Hungary, in BRATISLAVA , in Saint Martin's Church, 11 Hungarian Kings were corronated, along with 8 Queens ( their wives ) , just because Hungary was ruled by the Turks, and so " Pozony ", today's BRATISLAVA, was pretty safe place for your Kings to be corronated over there !!!! So let me remind you : Slovakia is for Slovaks, Hungary is for Hungarians, and you can do nothing to change the reality, as much as you can't turn the clock of history back, no matter, how hard you may try. I love Magyar Orszagh and my Hungarian friends, but I LOVE SLOVAKIA MUCH,MUCH, MUCH MORE!!!! Seretlek Slovakia, a Vizontlatasra Magyar Orszagh........

Slo VAH kia! Not Slo VACK ia. All "a's" are soft in the Slovak language. No such word as Slovakians, they are Slovaks. The accent is usually on the first syllable, i.e. BRA ti slava, NOT Bra ti SLAVA. So far only one video on UTUBE has pronounced the capital of Slovakia correctly. I am Slovak, I wish these people would do a little bit of research and not disrespect the culture, by giving people very incorrect sounding of the words.

  • @herrunsinn774

The video is full of interesting shots of multiple locations from around Slovakia but that awful music soundtrack sounds like something right out of the 1950's, as does the stuffy sounding pedantic narrator. Normally I generally enjoy the various British accents, but this one smacked of elitism and snobbery.

The Hungarians' constant fear of their own demise encourages them to expand. Were it not for the continuous absorption of resources from the surrounding area, the Hungarian nation might no longer exist.
As "the greatest Hungarian thinker of the 20th century" István Bibó wrote, the Hungarians mingled "with all sorts of ballast in the world".
Count Štefan Sečéni (Széchenyi, Széchenyi; * September 21, 1791, Vienna - † April 8, 1860 Döbling) was a "Hungarian" nobleman and politician and was the dominant figure of the reform period in the 1930s in Austria-Hungary declared: " Hungarians do not yet exist, they will only emerge. " This famous statement was recorded by Franz von Löher in his 1874 book "Hungarians and Other Hungarians" (Die Magyaren und andere Ungarn). In the text of the book, he clearly distinguishes between Uhr and Hungarian, and this difference can be seen in the title itself.

      Pre-4th century AD
Map of the presumptive Hungarian prehistory
      Main article: Hungarian prehistory
During the 4th millennium BC, the Uralic-speaking peoples who were living in the central and southern regions of the Urals split up. Some dispersed towards the west and northwest and came into contact with Iranian speakers who were spreading northwards.[33] From at least 2000 BC onwards, the Ugric-speakers became distinguished from the rest of the Uralic community, of which the ancestors of the Magyars, being located farther south, were the most numerous. Judging by evidence from burial mounds and settlement sites, they interacted with the Indo-Iranian Andronovo culture.[34]
Entering the Carpathian Basin (c. 895)
Main articles: Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin and Pannonian basin before Hungary
Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin, from the Chronicon Pictum, 1360.
In 895/896, under the leadership of Árpád, some Hungarians crossed the Carpathians and entered the Carpathian Basin. The tribe called Magyar was the leading tribe of the Hungarian alliance that conquered the centre of the basin. At the same time (c. 895), due to their involvement in the 894-896 Bulgaro-Byzantine war, Hungarians in Etelköz were attacked by Bulgaria and then by their old enemies the Pechenegs. The Bulgarians won the decisive battle of Southern Buh. It is uncertain whether or not those conflicts were the cause of the Hungarian departure from Etelköz.
From the upper Tisza region of the Carpathian Basin, the Hungarians intensified their looting raids across continental Europe. In 900, they moved from the upper Tisza river to Transdanubia (Pannonia),[citation needed] which later became the core of the arising Hungarian state. At the time of the Hungarian migration, the land was inhabited only by a sparse population of Slavs, numbering about 200,000,[35] who were either assimilated or enslaved by the Hungarians.[35]
Archaeological findings (e.g. in the Polish city of Przemyśl) suggest that many Hungarians remained to the north of the Carpathians after 895/896.[38] There is also a consistent Hungarian population in Transylvania, the Székelys, who comprise 40% of the Hungarians in Romania.[39][40] The Székely people's origin, and in particular the time of their settlement in Transylvania, is a matter of historical controversy.
