correction, that first one you showed is actually a Limited Edition. additional info for the few people that actually care. in 2003 only 8,000 Limited Editions were made. only offered in 3 colors. Black Sapphire (WA8743) most common, Galaxy Silver (WA519F) kinda common, and white (WA8554) uncommon/rare (who cares about white though). along with the second one spoiler it was offered for 2 editions. 2000 Daytona only one paint code offered Galaxy Silver (WA519F) only 2,000 were made. then 2002 40th anniversary only one paint code Dark Charry (WA9800) about 7,000 were made.
To reply to this Reply & give the actual TRUE 100% reality of these two spoilers is yes, you are correct. The first one is a Direct bolt up & is a "Limited Edition Spoiler" that only came off the specially marked 2003 (which was the last year of the 6th Generation Grand Prix body style's / this Grand prix specifically). Now; secondly... going off what he was saying & what 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽 clearly DOESN'T know... is that the 2nd spoiler can be found on ANY Special Editon model, 40th Anniversary Edition (2002 ONLY), & finally, yes you can find them on the Galaxy Silver, because that's the only paint code for the 2000 "Daytona Edition" GP. So you do have 3 options for finding the 2nd spoiler, which is from one of 3 cars: - Special Edition - 40th Anniversary Edition (2002 Purple) - 2000 Galaxy Silver Daytona 500 (all 2 door cars) Just wanted the true fact's of the matter to be known about on the second spoiler, because it's actually one of my true favorite's as well. I feel like 75-85% of the Grand Prix "Enthusiasts" that are left out there... Go for the "Knock off first generation variant of the SLP GTX edition spoilers." Those are the more like stock looking one's, just with a little more flare - per-say. There's the secondary edition of the SLP GTX later model Grand Prix's out there as well, and those too came with a special spoiler, BUT these one's fortunate enough, could be taken off and directly bolted up to a Stock Decklid just like every other one, BUT the 3 listed above. The thing with this 2nd later generation looking SLP GTX spoiler is... it looks nearly IDENTICAL to a "SE, 40th, 00' Daytona" style spoiler, but only if you take the time to sit down & take a look at the two will you truly gain perspective of what the differences are, and the looks of them are & how they differ. I personally think it's the UGLIEST of all the spoiler options out there for the 6th Gen body... but that's just my opinion & my 2¢; you can take it or leave it! But compared to the "SE, 40th, 00' Daytona" style spoiler, that 2nd generation of the SLP spoiler is UGLY... if you ask me. It's very flat, it has nearly NO definition to it, & you can barely tell it's even aftermarket let alone on the vehicle, because once they're paint matched, they blend in b/c of how low profile they are. I'll post some picture's in this Imgur link for you all to take a look at of the two side by side & you'll understand what I mean. As a matter of fact, I found an even better place for you to look. Check out this posting / listing of the "2nd Generation" SLP spoilers, and how obvious they're trying to make them look & feel like a Special Edition, 40th, or 2000 Daytona spoiler. Now I'll even admit it, YES SOME OF THESE Car's look nice with it on there... But take a look at that unfinished, just primer colored one, on top of that White GP. That's what they truly look like, and they are ugly. They take a TON of work to get to looking somewhat "decent" on a 6th Gen body... imgur.com/a/WRipumf Now let's do a little compare / contrast with the Special, 40th, Daytona Spoiler up next to the 2nd gen knock off's: I'll finish this up in a few days
Thank you for creating this video you're right there's not much information on the internet. What kind of material is the factory made of? Plastic or fiberglass? Also what did you end up doing with the stock spoiler?
there were pre 2003 special editions in 01 Pontiac released basically the daytona 500 edition minus the graphics and the same coloured interior with the same daytona spoiler
@@SalemDoyle how do i find that spoiler sell it to me or send me a link i cant find it not the one u put on the one u put to the side the plug n play one
I like that 40th where is the most common place to get it would it be a junkyard eBay or something like that and another question are those custom tail lights that you have on the red one or do they come on just the four doors mine is a 2 door but the light shell is black somebody I know has a 4-door and their shell is clear I was wondering do they come like that or are they a different option
So is the consensus that (I have a 99 GTP) the best option to put a 40th edition on would be to buy the entire trunk lid and swap trunk lid + spoiler at the same time???
Ultimately... I do realize that this is a 2-year-old comment, and IF you still have your GTP you probably already know this IF you did go with the Special Edition/ 40th Anniversary edition/ 2000 Daytona Edition style spoiler... You would need either A: a factory decklid off more than likely an older style Grand Prix. Like a 98' or 97' with NO spoiler on it at all, and no pre-existing hole's drilled, OR option B: just do it the simple way & grab the entire trunk decklid with the spoiler still attached as it's going to have some gasket sealing around it to keep the moisture out & water out from collecting under neath it & rusting out your Decklid. So just make sure you get one that's already together from the factory, & hasn't been removed, or installed by someone else, unless they're like myself, & know exactly what they're doing & how. I personally found a Special edition sitting in a Junk yard one day before it had gone through the yard inspection & been stripped down to nothing and was so lucky that I was able to grab all the "Special Edition" pieces for one of my very own Grand Prix's OR as I've done, just hold onto them and keep them safe for future rarity gains. So, I got the Roof Rails, The Spoiler and decklid completely together (absolutely flawless by the way), the wheel center caps that say "Special Edition" on them, & than basically the entire Hood & interior. But like I say, do yourself a favor and do not buy just a "special edition" spoiler OR "2000 style silver Daytona" OR "40th anniversary edition" one loosely, because you're just going to give yourself more trouble than it's worth, & ultimately... Run the risk of having an already pre-existing damaged one where the Screws are stripped out or can no longer be threaded, OR you will have one that is completely cracked, or you will run the risk of cracking it and having it break. Because what a lot of people don't tell you also about these spoilers... is that the Screws are built DIRECTLY into the spoiler itself; so, if you ruin those, or they are already ruined... You're screwed. Literally & figuratively. Hope this helps!

What kind of material is the factory made of?
Plastic or fiberglass?
Also what did you end up doing with the stock spoiler?
Just switch the hole trunk with the 40th wing ..i did
that's the easiest way
I saw a guy put 3 stanchions supporting the stock wing before it looked pretty sick
Interesting idea. But sounds like a lot of work
That kind of thing is my department lol. I'm not much of a mechanic...
Heck yeah
I'm definitely changing the spoiler on my GT. It looks outdated.
I agree this is the best looking spoiler
That's my favorite spoiler too. I have a purple/maroon one in my attic
Was up .more great content from Salem .😎😎😎😎 40th trunk lids with that wing is my choice for my 2000s
Me too
When installing the Daytona spoiler. Did you use 3m double sided tape as well?
Yes
Im gonna try and modify a ws6 spoiler to fit my 7th gen.
No links for where we can find aftermarket spoilers ….?
These were all oem. But kaminari.com has some aftermarket ones
there were pre 2003 special editions in 01 Pontiac released basically the daytona 500 edition minus the graphics and the same coloured interior with the same daytona spoiler
Now are the 4th anniversary wings and some GTX wings the same?
Not sure, but i dont think they are the same.
What about the SLP gen 1 and 2 spoilers that came on the gtxs
Didnt have one of those
I was going to buy it but didn’t know how to put it on
I will be doing a video pretty soon about all the body work that is required to use it on a stock trunk line

btw can i damage the motor using a delphi zzp tuned ecm plug n play?

Ebay or junkyard maybe. Those are led tails i bought online. Factory ones had broken lenses

What are our 7th gen options apart from the gxp?
Base, gt, gtp, comp g, and gxp
All are the same except gxp. But there are a couple aftermarket ones, like the inferno spoiler.
