I have have had my hair natural for going on 3 years now and the constant cycle of wash days and 5 hour long braid sessions have worn me out. Today I went to my local Ulta Beauty Salon and got a keratin treatment! I vlogged the process to help anyone who could relate to my situation. :)

She was really dry and unfriendly lol.
But she came to life when her co worker came by.
I caught that too.
@@gd.523 I had a stylist like that. Cold and quiet towards me but chatting it up and sweet as pie to her coworker. Smh. She did a phenomenal silk press but I never went back. Attitude is very important to me.
This stylist was a bit offputting to me… I feel like she kind of dismissed a lot of your questions and comments. Also in my experience keratin IS just put in once, flat ironed, and left until your next wash day for best results. Not sure why she immediately washed and restraightened your hair, seems like excess damage. Also keratin CAN be done at home, (I do it) but it does take about 4-6 hours on your own as well :/ it’s so worth it in my opinion though! I’m glad you’re loving your results so far 🥰
That’s true I peeped that dismissitivity
I thought the exact same thing 😅
Yes it was weird
Y’all I’m here to update I went to an ulta salon and the lady had no idea wtf she was doing and chopped half my hair off 💀😭 lesson learned okay stay away yall!
She seemed completely uninspired :/ but she did a good job!
As a guy with 4C hair all i do is wear my braids for months because its hard to maintain 4C hair consistently bc its THICCCCK and takes hours*shivers* but love your content and you gave me birthday inspiration ❤️
You have the wrong attitude towards your hair, that will make it hard to grow
She did good but I feel like theirs people with better expertise to handle n make your hair look even better than that . Keep looking for another stylist ❤️ but glad it came out good you look cute .
Maybe add gloss next time for the shine
Never saw anything like that before. Thanks for making this vlog and great that the salon/ employee gave the filming permission.
You got a great stylist. She really was into the health of your hair. It’s beautiful!!! Here is something I have to say. The beauty of “going natural” is all the lessons you learn about truly healthy hair care. So when you choose to chemically straighten you can apply those lessons. You know how to use less heat with twist outs and braid outs. You know how to detangle better, and just to be more gentle. It’s an evolution.
I also tell people that another “in the middle” option is sisterlocks or microlocs. I call them corporate locs. They blend into corporate culture better than thicker locs. That’s just another idea for the future.
I do mine at home with Brazilian Blowout. Its easy, except for the smell. Wash 3x, add the smoothing serum, blow dry, and flat iron a few passes each section. Its beautiful and smooth. Rinse the next day and blowdry. Done. Pin straight. Ive been able to keep my hair straight with a touchup every 3 to 6 months, and its almost waist length. Rain and humidity have no effect on my hair.
I am mixed race.
What would you say your curl pattern is?
What brand?
@@batgirlp5561 Brazilian Blowouts in a brown bottle.
@@tjohns3302 frizzy and very bad curls. I would have to glue it down or wear a ponytail. Super frizz in humidity or rain. I once went to a wedding and flat ironed my hair, during the ceremony it rained. By the end of the service I looked like I’d been electrocuted. So embarrassing.
I definitely appreciate you taking me along with you ,because I've definitely been researching and looking for a place to get my hair done and gusee what I found ulta near me and she said they do a formaldehyde free formula, hopefully my hair will be more manageable, healthier and I want more styling ways to do my hair 😊
Thanks again and I did subscribe ❤
13:49 mark I love the curl pattern
This video was amazing! Thank you🖤
Girl taking care of natural hair is a full time job… I’ll try this out❤️

Contemplating this at Ulta. Thanks for video.
Oh my it took so long..😭 I have 4c hair and A LOT of it. I actually have a keratin appointment tomorrow so hopefully it goes well. (I've only cut my hair like once so...) Liked the video though!
Slayyy love your hair ❤
Wow 😯
All we want is our hair to be straight, the fact you had to pay extra for your hair because you have 4c mine 4b/4c and girl you need to come to uk because them prices are crazy 😂, so glad I came across your page because I’m getting mine done this week at salon, yours looks good though
Love the vid!! Can we get an update?
I see you have a Lana del ray album I love Lana her music helped me get through middle school so did Taylor❤❤❤
Yeah Lana is the bomb! I played one of her songs at my wedding.😊
@@cfoster6804 that’s so awesome ❤️
Nice video. Definitely should have done more passes, and that product doesn’t calls for the dryer, but everyone does what they want and doesn’t follow the manufacturer guidelines. I was a stylist at Ulta for 5 years.
Are Keratin Treatments even safe? Or just a little less harmful than relaxers? She’s wearing a mask so I’m wondering if it’s harmful to the body.
@@IAmHisBeloved5 Been getting them for years and I've done a little research. As far as I know they are safe. The first Keratin treatments in the early 2000s had harsher chemicals.
@@IAmHisBeloved5 the keratin is for someone that wants flexibility to wear their hair straight and not revert back from the humidity and also wear it in its natural state as well ( twist outs, etc) and not worry about detangling process. But, if you’re working out and you’re not interested in being bothered with your hair at all, then get a relaxer. But, a mask it’s necessary, but you don’t have to use a lot of product; if you do that’s when you get a lot of smoke in the blow drying process and flat iron.
@@jackienwb I’m just trying to understand if it’s harmful to the body. Since it’s only accessible to professionals, I’m not sure how to find the ingredient list. Relaxers are proven to cause health problems. Including cancer so I definitely won’t go back to those. Which is why I’m trying to see if a keratin treatment is harmful like relaxers. Or if they’re safe.
@@IAmHisBeloved5 they are safe. Ulta uses Keratin Complex so goggle it and I always suggest my clients to do their research.
Would really like to see what your hair looks like when it's not straightened. I am tempted by the keratin treatment to loosen my curls and make them more manageable but i cant find any videos that show the results of the treatment if you just wear the hair out naturally.
Here’s an update vid on my texture 😊

Hey I was just wondering about how much this service costs it turned out great!
She had a fan blowing and was wearing a mask. I wonder if that was due to formaldehyde 😮
I bought a shampoo and conditioner with keratin by mistake and best mistake ever, this ish works!
Which one
Your music 🔥🔥
Thanks! How do you deal with growing roots afterwards? after keratin
Your hair looks great natural or straight!
First 😃 and the first 1 to like!
Can you give an update on how the Keratin Treatment is holding up ❤ I'm thinking of getting one. I'm just worried about the stylist in the Ultas near me and if they will be familiar with Type 4 hair or any black hair.
Yes. Please give us an update
Here’s an update video 😊

Im amazed it was a process, but your hair was beautiful bouncy just lovely. How much was it?
She didn’t do enough passes on your hair to completely activate the keratin! Their price is unbelievable
Unbelievable as in good or bad?
That's funny I was wondering about that too. I thought it was supposed to be about 4 passes until you see the shine come out. Every time I think of it I want to cringe but they say it's safer with the treatment coating the hair 🤷🏽♀️ oh well.... good catch
15:00
Please someone tell me what is the name of this remix version of young and beautiful and where to find it.
Please favour ❤✨
And also I love your new hairstyle girl, you look stunning. 💖💖
Nice
Loved your str8 hair 💁🏽♀️💫
u look beutiful 💅
I did this in London when I was in vac but they didn’t wash it the same day I am confused
I have 4C hair also. I have the same problem with my hair I don't know what to do with it I want my natural to be straight but I been wearing braids
Do you have any tips or ideals?
Dang she just left the top sitting right there
what products did she use?
Thank you for your video! With my clients as a stylist and for myself I also choose a treatment. But it's different, calls Brazilian Bondox. The way it transforms hair is simply stunning.
This is my hair
Thats crazy you go in it's light and come out its dark noooooo way😢
Omfg i feel this my prob is the breaking off id do a keratin treatment if they were available in Uganda
Am looking for the same service in uganda but I haven't found one. If you have a plug please hook me up
I’ve had my hair done at Ulta - they never really do wash and gos - at least not where I went. They had me leave the salon with no holding product on my hair - no style. All thought for a color ? I wish I would have know I would have prepared my hair lol
They jacked my hair up so bad and I left crying. They gave me and my mom 400 dollars giftcard to Ulta and begrudgingly wrote an apology
@@Beepboophehe Woa! $400! What the heck did they do to your hair?
@@cfoster6804right!?!?!
@@cfoster6804 she detangled my hair for almost 3 hours!!!😭I was in tears cause it hurt so bad. She lied about being able to do curly hair 🤦🏽♀
Hi❤❤
I gasped out loud when you said you have never been to a salon for a shampoo. Please treat yourself every once in a while!
Wow pretty very pretty😅😅
Do you know the name of the keratin she used?
I looked up the bottle at 6:33 and it's Keratin Complex - the PBO system.
Does keratin treatments have chemicals? Is it Like a perm?
How much was it? Thanks for sharing. I’d have to go with the version where they don’t do everything twice (two flat irons & 2 blowdrys just won’t work for me).
My niece is mixed race and has afro hair and she is always trying to straighten it. You're look good Favour. (BTW I like my niece best when her hair is relaxed enough to be in less tight curls and when they manage to get enough moisture into it).
Ok and
What are you saying? What do you mean you LIKE your niece best? Are you the one in charge of her hair?
…ok
Remember me? 😀
So that's basically a silk press????im confused
No lol google keratin treatments.
I would find someone who likes their job a little more. Reading the comments others feel the same
My keratin treatment takes 2 hours so it shouldn't have took her so long
I think they shouldn't have washed the keratin right away. It's done after min of 3 days.
Idk why people refuse to use the correct terminology. We know it’s called a relaxer but people insist on calling it a perm. 😂
I thought you’re not supposed to wash out the keratin straight away
Different treatment processes. Now the most common ones can be washed immediately. It also might be a Brazilian blowout treatment which uses Keratin and many stylists just call it the same thing
Yeah your hair should have been straighter than that 😢
I don't think she is 4C at all. I seen 4C she isn't 🇵🇰🎉🇺🇸🤔
WHYYYYYY WOULD SHE DO YOUR TRIM BEFORE STRAIGHTENING!!!!! your ends were even that bad, u always straighten first then trim
Find a different
Way too much blow drying and flat ironing, other hair stylist don’t do so much
If you keep your hair dry, it's not going to be manageable. You gotta water your hair like a plant 😭your hair is super beautiful
You shuold never go to the hair dresser with your hair not fully detangled yourself, you are just asking for extra breakage.
Yes that is why I am so happy my hair dresser takes her time to detangle and retain length ❤❤❤
