  • A classic! Indiana University takes on Michigan and the Fab Five on Valentine's Day. This might have been the 1993 team's apex, as this game took place about 8 days before Alan Henderson's disastrous knee injury. You also get the benefits of lots of Don Fischer and Max Skirvin in the pregame, plus a surprise appearance by Bob Hammel. They had to stretch out the start of the broadcast due to the Daytona 500 running long.

I absolutely love watching these old games in the old quality. You can still see the vhs tape streaks on the screen. Makes me sad I miss the 90's.

The gentleman calling the game is outstanding.

Wow! Classic basketball! You don't see it like that now! Great job, Brian Evans! Always my favorite!

Bobby Knight and IU used to beat the Fab Five like a drum. Loved every minute of it!

I wouldn't exactly say they beat them like a drum. They won 3 of 4 games vs. UM, but only the first one in 1991-92 was a blowout. The two games in '93 weren't exactly one-sided.

It was the apex - the '93 team being last edition of the Hoosiers that I loved with all my heart.

Great to see this game again. You could feel the electricity inside Assembly Hall through the TV that day. Two evenly matched teams battling each other.

A memorable Valentine's Day Sunday: this game, Shaq vs Ewing triple overtime, and Dale Jarrett vs Dale Earnhardt in the Daytona 500

Chris Webber’s attempt to get fouled on that final 3 point shot was admirable.

Also, if Alan Henderson doesn't severely injure his knee, that group wins a 4th national title for Knight.

PositiveEdge Good comparison too in that the 1975 team lost Scott May to injury the way 1993 team lost Henderson. However, I think 1992 team with Cheaney was their best team of 90's. Thought officiating in Duke tournament game was sketchy, at best.

yup, Coach Knight could have had 7 titles. We lost to UCLA on a bad call in 73, May to injury in 75, Valentine in 92 against Duke and Alan to injury in 93.

That was also a deep IU team. We returned everyone from the season before and added Alan Henderson. But we lost Pat Graham to injury before season started.

Michigan went on to a National Championship Game appearance while IU lost in Elite Eight.

And Michigan fab five never beat IU...couldn’t even win their own conference championship. I bet if you asked every IU player on the floor they know how many timeouts they have. Michigan the most overrated college team in the history of the NCAA. Didn’t win a conference championship or a tournament championship. Complete joke.

this game is almost 20 years old but the athleticsm of the iu players has actually declined, whereas with most programs the athleticsm of the players has actually improved....tjd is going to go down as one of iu's top 20 program players, but he wouldn't even start on this team and iu didn't even have a dominant front court during this time period!!!!

Thug 5 was all hype. They had never won anything.
