- On March 1st, 2021, police pulled over a vehicle for failure to signal and a headlight violation in Mundelein, Illinois. After refusing to do sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest for DUI but not without a fight.
All charges against her were dismissed after she completed her court supervision for the reckless driving and battery charges.

I truly believe EVERY person charged with DUI should have to watch their arrest video in front of the judge prior to ANYTHING ELSE happening. Let them see how they acted and try to explain it to the judge.

Julia you are lucky to know how lucky you were to have nice grandparents. When my grandma died my father said "She was nothing but a mean old bitch anyways." I never forgot that and smile when I think of it. No relative ever visits her grave. She was no loss.

Better to just smile and go on about your business and don’t let them upset you because most just want to argue and they enjoy it. This woman does not have dementia. I’m an RN and adult nurse practitioner and in my opinion she is simply a mean and nasty woman. She has probably been like this her entire life. As long as things were going her way, she was pleasant and cooperative, but let someone in authority challenge her and you see what happens.

As a former ER nurse some of my most angry and irate patients were elderly. Some of them really gave me a run for my money. The charges may have been dismissed after she completed her sentence however her drivers license deserved to be revoked.

I thoroughly agree! Especially since she repeatedly kicked/kicked at the officers. I understand why they let her do a Plea in Abeyance, especially if this was her first time in 80 years getting in *any* sort of legal trouble.

As someone who works routinely with the elderly, I'm telling you this the norm rather than the exception. I'm still shocked at how disrespectful and mean they can be. They yell and insult you while expecting you to do something for them. I wish they made this woman view her tape in front of the judge and explain her actions rather than dropping the charges.
I have been an RN for 25 yrs, and I am a state certified dementia care specialist. Alcohol is most likely to blame in this case, but keep in mind that in facilities and hospitals, many of the behaviors that you see with elderly people are related to dementia. They can't help their behaviors, and most weren't like that when they were younger. Yes, there are some who are mean, rude, and demanding just because they can be, but that isn't the norm. Most of the elderly who don't have dementia are actually very nice, and are grateful for the care they receive. Also, keep in mind that there are times when they don't receive the very best care. It is a two way street, and every patient deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. A lot of times behind the behaviors is a person who is scared because they have lost control of every aspect of their lives, and they are attempting to exert and regain some control back. Often, giving them as many choices throughout the day as we can will decrease the behaviors.

She’s using her age as an excuse to not do the FSTs so, if her age prevents her from walking, turning or staring at the tip of a pen, maybe her age should also prevent her from having a driver’s license.

@@soilmanted she's too with it to have dementia. I've worked with the elderly and she got mouthy from the get go. She knew she was drunk and probably going to get a ticket so she was pst because she got caught. She acts like most drunk women. They always fight. Why I don't know. If they were smart they'd be charming and maybe avoid a ticket.

I work in hospitality and can tell you hand for hand, there are some pretty nasty elderly people out there. Everyone should be held accountable, the law does not care that you are 80… sorry.
