In the dugout during the 7th inning, team manager asks Greinke, "How you feeling? Can you do a few more innings and still throw hard?" Greinke: "I don't throw hard. I throw smart."
I agree this is the first comment I see that someone actually gets him! He slows down his pitches by a lot throw off a hitter it’s the smartest thing ever to do! Throws hitters off their game when they see a 50 mph curveball

@Job we’ve done so many amazing this already this year and it never gets talked about, but Ohtani will allow four runs in five innings to the Texas Rangers and gets a whole 3 minute video made about him
I've noticed that when he pitches on 5 days rest he's nearly unbeatable but when he has 6 days rest he's not very good. The Astros for some reason alternate his starts. He'll get 5 days rest, pitch a great game, and then he won't pitch again for 6 days. On day six he always has a bad day. Then 5 days rest, another great outing, followed by 6 days rest and a not so good outing. The Astros should pitch him every 5th day, not with 6 days rest
@Job You have to look back at each of his starts, and check how many days off he had before his next start. I did that and compared his performances on each start. He's clearly much better with 5 days rest
@Job He pitched on May 19th, threw 8 innings and beat Oakland 8-1. Six days later on May 25th he started against the Dodgers and lost 9-2. Five days later on May 30th he started against the Padres, had a stellar outing and won 7-4. Five days later on June 4th he threw the complete game and beat Toronto 13-1
@Job So he started tonight, six days after his last start on June 4th. He lasted 3 innings, gave up 7 hits, four runs, struck out two and walked a batter. My theory is correct. He's much better when he starts 5 days apart as opposed to six days. I don't know why management doesn't see this. You can see this pattern all the way back to the start of the season. I'd bet he would do better on 4 days rest as opposed to 6 days. Greinke is my favorite pitcher but managment is hurting him, in my opinion, by starting him six days apart
Greinke is one of my favorite pitchers in the league, he's been heating up recently 🔥
I bet Greinke's response to hearing it was his 17th complete game, was "That's cool"
“Was a good game”

Miss you on the Dbacks Greinke!
Yeah we miss him on the Royals as well, just glad to see him doing well
I like how this guy is true to himself. Rare these days.
Congrats to Greinke! Although a Blue Jays fan, it was a good performance. Go MLB!!!

In 1980 Matt Keough threw 28 complete games.
Not 28, but 20
Back then it was way more common to throw complete games, nowadays it is pretty rare.
Modern day Greg Maddux
3 pitches less and it would've been a Maddux complete game.

Roger Clemens through 18 complete games.... In 1987
