  • I'll show you how I put a clear vinyl overlay on bag exterior panels - using my 10 gauge vinyl here: sewhungryhippie.com/products/...
It's an easy process if you use a Teflon sewing foot, Universal size 80 needle, and a strong All-Purpose thread like Gutermann. Be sure to review my FREE vinyl sewing guide here if you're new to this medium: sewhungryhippie.com/blogs/tut...
    I'm using 10 g clear vinyl sewhungryhippie.com/products/...
    I use a 3.0mm stitch length
    I use white Gutermann all-purpose thread sewhungryhippie.com/products/...
I have a Teflon foot on my machine.
Quilt blocks made by Go-Go Kim (she gifted them to me, the pattern is based on various New York Beauty blocks).
I'm interfacing the blocks with fusible fleece. The lining is interfaced with SF101.

Love your idea about sewing two blocks and then make a bag. I sometimes make one for a pillow never thought about a bag. Thank you!

The jean majig is also known as a hump jumper. LOL But like you said, I have heard them called lots of things. real name?... I also LOVE that quilt block used in this project. I dont know I could make it as precise. but would love to learn how and would love to make this bag.

I want to make a purse with this. I have been hoarding some Tula Pink Parisville fabric and vinyl would keep it perfect (now if I have the strength to take scissors to it…I don’t know). Great tutorial! 🙌 🙌 🙌

I agree - it IS a struggle to cut Tula fabric!!! :D

Before I forget, I saw a lacy clear vinyl online this year. but I can't find where to buy it. I don't think it is actually even called clear vinyl, I forget what my research pulle dup but it was known as something else.... anyway when I talked to the lady who had used it, it was sold about four years ago in Europe, and was a wide roll, not the narrow rolls, so it could be used in really large projects without seaming it together. do you know what it might be or where it might be found?

I'll be on the lookout, but no I don't know where you would find that offhand. Sorry!

How did you piece your vinyl for the bag bigger than 18 inches across?

I sell rolls that are 54” long. So 2 large santorini cuts are possible.
