- Angela and the band were just having so much fun onstage. We taught her tagalog words (our language)....not the bad ones. I convinced her to play percussions, she was hesitant at first but I told her that the audience would love it...so check this video out.

My 7 year old son and I lived with Ms. Bofill and her daughter for a few years while I was her personal chef. What a WOMAN! How she helped me when I was at wits end trying to get my son to do his homework. She saw me frazzled and intervened. She told us he just needs to take a break from time to time. "So go take a 10 minute break and come back." When he returned he was sitting there not doing anything and she asks him, "Whats your next trick?" I started laughing as she knew him so well! That little boy is now 35 and he will never forget his 2nd mama, Miss Bofill and how kind and loving she ALWAYS was to him and his mama. We spoke to her a few years back, she thought my son was my brother. She's a little out of it. God bless her. What a sweet soul.

What a Beautiful Story! I think I remember hearing her music in the 70's and 80's. I just saw on Facebook that she passed today and started looking at her videos! God rest her soul! God left her beautiful gift of her Angelic Voice! 🤗🙏🙌

In her own words, said she embraced her BLACK and LATINA heritage. Ms. Bofill said that she was inspired by Hispanic and African American singers and musicians.
Plus, most of her music crossed over on the R&B charts, as she often shared the stage with BLACK singers such as George Duke, Phyllis Hyman, and Jean Carne.
So, YES, it’s only natural to put her in the genre of other singers (who happened to be Black). Being BLACK and HISPANIC is a real thing and it sounds like you’re suffering from self-hatred.
Don’t impose your beliefs on someone else! Yes, Ms. Bofill is a classic, as is Betty Wright, Celia Cruz, and Phyllis Hyman.

My mother surprised me with concert tickets in 2001.
i didn't know what to expect, but i was so very excited to see Angela live.
Seeing this footage is like reliving that night all over again.
i don't know when or where this clip was filmed, but this was EXACTLY the energy she gave that night i saw her 23 years ago.
i feel so blessed to have met her that night. She was beautiful, humble, funny and very generous with her time. She gave us fans so much love.
And that voice, my goodness, that voice.
Hearing it on vinyl is one thing, but being in the same room with it was magical for my 17 year old self.
RIP Ms Bofill. God’s got you now.

@kristalwilliams5338-As a fellow Afro-Cuban(Ms Angela Bofill also has Afro-Cuban ancestry via her Papi) the Afro-Cuban community most definitely recognizes and acknowledges her more tgsn you know. I grew up in DC/DMV area and we were constantly exposed to and hearing Angela Bofill records on WHUR aka "The Original Quiet Storm" with the now late Melvin Lindsey.

One of my all time favorites. I still have this album. I still sing this song. I was a young 20 year old serving overseas at Clark AFB in the Philippines. This album was on most of the other people living in my barracks. RIP in peace, power, and most importantly the arms of the Lawd for the rest of eternity!
I love Angie. I met here in San Francisco when I worked at radio station KDIA in the mid-80s. She was pregnant at the time, with her first child. She was performing at the Tonga Room in the City! A wonderful time.
I saw her many times at Kimball's East in Emeryville, CA and at Yoshi's in Oakland. She was a great live performer and very sweet & appreciative with the audience.

I was in The Philippines 🇵🇭 back in 1983 when she and Sharon Cuneta filmed a scene for a movie 🎥. No chance to meet then. 😢 I traveled to and from The Philippines 🇵🇭 many more times.

In the early 80s I used to go to Hawaii on vacation. The gym I worked out at played her songs constantly. Now when I hear her, it brings me to tears because her music is so full of joy and beauty. And it matched the beauty of Hawaii in such a way as to make them one. Angela, I love you. You are an American treasure.

Adorable. And such a unique sound and wonderful talent. So glad that voice has been put to record. It's a wonderful thing. Wish I had been able to catch Angela in concert. Extraordinary catalog. She came along when pop, r&b, funk, latin and jazz were blending in such a wonderful, powerful way creating a rich new sound. Remnants of that energy pop up from time to time. But the 70s through the 80s was a very special time for this music. And Angela was right there in middle of it.

@YoGGiiYo-well Ms Angela Bofill is definitely recognized by her peers, such as the late Phyllis Hyman(both singers were signed to Arista Records), George Duke(RIP), Johnny Mathis, Narada Michael Walden, Dave Valentine, etc. Even the late Whitney Houston was well aware of Angela Bofill's musical prowess, but Clive Davis, who signed both of them, seemed more intrigued by Ms Houston and ultimately, Ms Bofill didn't continue to get the attention she surely deserved, but Clive Davis did the same thing to Phyllis Hyman when he signed Angela Bofill.

Oh Angie. I was in the USMC when I got hooked on this angelic voice. How I used to just listen over and over to you, I do not think that she ever put out a bad song. Man for those of us that lived in this era we were so blessed. Nothing absolutely no autotune compares to actual talent.

I had never heard of Angela until the end of 2020. I am very grateful for these RUclips videos that allow me to enjoy what I never realized I was missing because the local radio stations never played Angela's music. I get angry at times that I didn't know about her and her wonderful music until just a few months ago...
