I live in Japan and I had an 08 Premium FBO for 7 years and I put 140,000km on it. It was a great car.. So good that I sold it at the same price I bought it and got a 2017 GT-R Premium Gunmetal with The Rakuda Tan (orange interior). I put 30,000 km on it and I had zero repairs so far. I have a Cayenne daily and besides cayenne being quiet I can't say that the suspension is much more comfortable than GT-R.. All people that complain about it being stiff are probably old people with back issues and hemorrhoids. I am itching to get a turbo S, but I like to drive with my kids in the back and do long road trips so there's no other car that can replace it when it comes to practicality, reliability and wow factor..
Really good to hear your positive thoughts on the GT-R. Owned my 2010 plate for over 10 years now, and still worth more than I paid for it too. 600hp is enough for my needs. Excited to see your forthcoming R35 journey 👍
tbh I’ve never heard any negative feedback about the 2008 car lol makes you wonder who’s saying it, especially when no one in the car community says a bad thing bout the older GTRs
For anyone going to GT-R Festival at the Texas Motorplex…. Do not speed on I-35W or any road around there. I live 5min north and it’s patrolled very heavily 24/7/365. You want to street race, go out west, or northwest about 15mi.
I love my 08 R35, the clunks/ noises and general feel of the car make it more authentic and raw. I agree I really don’t think you can get anything near as fun for the money, it’s in its own league. As for reliability, I have never had an issue with mine and have owned for 3 years, it’s serviced and looked after, that’s all that matter. JustJap are the go for everything R35 🤙🏽
I think it just depends how aggressive you are as a driver. I’ve seen them last forever. But I also have a close friend that’s built 3 transmissions now because he drives it like he stole it. I do the same, reasons why I bought a dodge viper instead. I knew I was gonna flog on the car all the time and I want zero issues.
When you get your 35 It might be fun to pick up the cheapest one on the market? And then just do the most budget mods slowly just to demonstrate like you have with your 32 To bring it up progressively After all you have done and driven so many 1000++ hp cars Would be quite an exercise to go down the budget rabbit hole Either way what ever you do it will end up being one of the best GTR s around given how much pride enthusiasm and passion you put in to every car you build or get involved with Cheers

Wondering because afaik it's the issue of all GTRs, how do the stock gearboxes hold out ? I know it's a big no no to use the launch control, but i've Heard they blow up with normal use
@@DukeNuggets69 the early JDM cars had some issues with circlips but they were addressed very quickly. Anything from late 08 onwards is fine. They could sell R35 GTRs in the next 10 years and it will still be relevant. The aftermarket is quite advanced for this car, it's not that hard to get reliable 700+hp from them.
I know one thing that has changed and is an important improvement. It’s the undated safety features. More airbags, seam welding, undated airbag technology, better safety technology in other areas.
Launch Control was not a good idea when R35 came out because the engagement was as hard as a neutral drop. One of the model years, Nissan updated the launch control to put less strain on the transmission that looks more like most cars that has one.
R35 is a great platform, though i almost wish Nissan took some bigger leaps, i.e. a 7 speed DCT, shorter ratios - higher rpm limit, get it back to that Porsche level performance.
Here before i watch the video, of course the R35 is still good lol and it has SO MUCH aftermarket, if it doesnt quite tickle your fancy you can always mod it
