I've given them 4 tries, every time nothing ever arrived, at all. Had to fight to get a refund, Scam company 100%! They don't actually have stock and buy it from other retails stores when you order, do not use them!
Awww Andrew, so sorry to see the initial phase end like that, i know the old Zoom mag addage GTR ownership is the cost of another GTR on top, but you didnt deserve that so soon, so with what looked to be a good basis. Good luck wirh the rebuild, hooe there a ton of content to be had with it all to at least soften the blow.
BMW M recommends getting heat into the brakes of their cars after washing them due to when the brakes maintain engagement after stopping with water in-between them after genuine use can adhere the pads to the rotors. Unlikely to be the same thing, but likely related to. Long story short...always try and keep your brakes dry
You never know on a car like that when its going to go. Stock gtr bottom ends donthat often. No warning signs and then they just casually grenade and throw a rod out the block.
New gearbox thats not properly programmed, fucked mounts, shot tires, and new front and rear bumpers to me scream shady and abusive past. Id guess someone lost control, kissed both ends and broke the trans in the process then "fixed" it and offed it. I bet if you did even 1 dyno pull it wouldve shit itself immediately. Total bummer and sucks that youve got to deal with that but i know great things will be coming for sure!!
Sakamoto Death Note writing on the engine. Life is complete. Driven hard and put away wet, quick patch job and sent to the Auctions, at a guess valve let go? Possiblely it was in an accident, maybe tracked, with the front and rear bar fixed, trans replaced can still be a warranty item/not full price and the brake material stuck to the rotor, rad issue, broken trans mounts? it has a new trans installed and no software change, Clusterswap. It still could be a good deal overall, good thing you know people.
I was thinking how wonderful things were going, fresh stuff etc… Great video till the end 💣 Sorry Andrew, but can’t wait till the next video. You have us hooked brother ;)
R35's seem fun, fast and pretty well sorted. I had the opportunity to drive a 660hp R35 years ago. I enjoyed my experience behind the wheel, coming from experiencve with 1 and 2JZ's. I loved the whole, get in and go feel of it. Sorry yours blew the motor. It's crazy that they're 17 years old now. Still feels like they're only 5 - 7 years old at most haha.
11:00 brake pad fusing to rotor. This happened on my brothers van when he left it at my folks house in the country which is in the hills and gets super cold and wet in winter. I think the weather and sitting in it caused the brakes to seize. I had to use a hammer and chisel to break it free. Then he had to go and get new brakes for it.
It's savage it ended how it did, and we'll never really know what caused it to blow like it did, especially after all that work. Looking forward to seeing what monster this becomes!
This would be a tuff hit to take for anyone Your extremely fortunate you’ll be able to recover bigger and better than anyone else with little impact (other than you’ll make the best content 35 skyline bar none on the net now) so really a win Especially with the contacts community and support from the gtr community you have built thew your hard work So here comes your 6s GTR daily That will be next level while looking sedate sleeper
danngg been waiting for this video for ages cos i was excited for the build.... sorry to see it went belly up but knowing you will be rebuilt epic. was hoping you were gonna do all the testing im too cheap to do like upgraded inlets with no other changes or things like that
Hey Andrew, If you need some chrome moly tubing let me know. I have 12m of 42mm I need to go. I'm just down the road from you. I'll do you a great deal.
10:51 perhaps the previous owner was tracking it, or driving it hard. While the brakes were hot from doing their job, the driver could have just kept the brake pedal down way too long, bonding the pad to the rotor.
Nice wheels really set the car off looks like they fill the guards up nice I believe the guys over the pond in nz have been playing with v6 Nissans for while and can extract some good power out of them I think the boys from the skid factory put one in a early skyline but what ever you do it’s going to be quick
The overall bad condition of the car mechanically dont say to me they bought a Brand new slushbox from nissan more like a late model crash damaged breaker yard special imo,no decent gearbox fitter is reusing them F'd mounts unless its a do it cheap as for auction job imo,and at some point the cheap car surpasses the money spent to get it in good condition you could have bought a slightly dearer car with no mechanical issues/good history paperwork possibly and some upgrades for reliability already done
@@MotiveVideo I picked up on the little clues I look out for when buying for myself or for others and came to the conclusion as I posted above, I even posted before I had got to the rod exit part of the vid tbh
@@ANDYblacks13 At no point did we report the car being bad mechanically other than worn out tie rods and worn out gearbox mounts. Normal wear and tear for age and kms. Brittle and worn out end tanks is also common for the car at that age. No signs of engine or box issues at all. Chassis extremely clean and good condition for its age and had full service history.
my GTR done the same thing when bought it, blew the radiator,, replaced that then few kms later the head gasket blew. Everyone says they are hardy engine but they pretty soft when it comes to overheating. Put a HKS gasket on it and you should be right. My GTR cost me $125,000 two years ago :(
I wish people would just call me before buying any tires. Much better options. If they're giving you a deal or free then fine but that's not a top tire for that car.
Blowing up an vr38 is not very common so it’s still a great car don’t be discouraged. Sure engines can fail in any car period even cast iron block 2jzs blowup , but it is very common at all ! Just like a the r35 I own and been around many built r35a for over a decade, some make north of 2,000hp and never blew up ever ! So that’s saying something, but also Ivey technologies do all of my major gtr work I do the basic maintenance because it’s damn easy 😂! But the main thing to really worry about is the early r35 is the transmission shifter valve bodies. The guide pins like to slip and you will lose gears, it’s not an extreme fix , but , when people didn’t understand this ,Nissan would just recommend replacing the whole transmission.
the R35 i dont feel is of the same bloodline as the R chassis . the intent of Nissan when they started making the performance versions of the GTR's since R31 really , was to make an accessible car that you could drive to work all week , and then change tires and take it to the track on the weekend. the R35 they made into a supercar thats for the most part inaccessible to their longtime passionate fans . the truest modern version of the skyline GTR isn't even made in Japan , the AWD Infiniti Q50 red sport is the closest we have to the original bloodline. in japan they only offer the 400R which is the higher output turbo set up and a bit more cooling ability, but it's RWD only . I like the R35 , but it's not for me. new or used , so many better options for the $ . why i bought the Infiniti Q50 AWD red sport . and just sent it off the AMS Performance , it left 400hp , will come back making 800 whp and 600Lbft torque , i'll have 1/2 the $ into it compared to a new stock R35 nismo , but make 2x the power to the wheels . .
Love how people are R35 GTR experts and giving their opinion. I’ve owned 4 of them from 2012-2019 model years. The rods are the weak point. You can’t predict when they go. They go on stock engines or tuned engines. People saying that the previous owner sold it to get rid have no idea what they’re talking about 🤦🏽♂️😂
Hopefully you don’t have to wait for parts from sparesbox lol

I ordered and paid for new Garrett g25 from them and they lost my order in their computer system, was a battle to get my turbo.
100% never again
“In the bin” and licking dubious car bits. Andrew has been learning from MCM 😂
That $60k would have looked good on “NO SECRETS” 😔
Corrosion does that, metallic pad rusted to the rotors from sitting, most likely on the boat. Have seen it on cars parked for long periods by the sea
Straight to PR16 package weeee
"worlds cheapest" title lasted 500km Now R35 taxes are due

I have aftermarket intakes and an Hks exhaust sitting in my garage. You can have them if you want. I hope to be at grt fest this year
legit street cars = had a video of repairing a modified trans - SAME - and really detailed upgrade !

The TSB clips were fitted where the selector shafts fitted over the Solenoids to stop wear, i did not see them do you know what they are.
