Yes you are right I’m not going into debt even though I’m in the testing phase I’m careful with my stock. I have people buying candles even though I’m testing things. I go to the dollar store get bags and things to wrap my candles in until I have substantial income from my candles. I also use the labels that come with my jars that i purchase from Amazon. I still want them to look professional. Thanks for this video it always helps.

Agreed. No need to go into debt. I gave myself a 5K budget-all from savings. I will launch in Aug 2024 with my fall collection. The business plan I made is for 18 months. For me, that will allow for 2 ‘busy’ seasons. By spring 2026, if I haven’t made my initial investment back…PLUS 7-8K, my candle business will either dissolve, or I’ll move it back to hobby status.

100% agree. Another point is growing organically helps you grow at a rate that you can manage and support. Artificial amounts of money and no foundation can actually create a big flame 🔥 that burns out.

I don’t know how. The testing phase alone was expensive. Then all the little things needed to start. I know I spent at least $5k. I don’t believe anyone saying they spent $500.
Yes it definitely takes a few thousand dollars to get started! Starting with $500 even with testing materials would be super hard…. Unless you literally make one candle, sell it, buy more supplies, sell two candles and so on.. which is possible! Lol
The start up cost is a lot, but I was lucky to have the cashflow from my day to day job. I just took my time.

That's how I started, saved up some money from my regular job, bought some supplies and started with a small amount of scents. Then over a 3 year period I've changed containers 3 times and label designs. I'm thinking about changing the label again but I love the containers I'm using now, hopefully this would be my last time changing up my labels. Also I'm slowly adding new products as time go on

The only thing I can't stand about Dave Ramsey is that he lies about gold and silver. Silver is what I invest in as it is the Constitutional Dollar. I own physical metal that I can stand infront of and defend with my rifle. If you can't touch it and defend it physically, you don't own it. So yeah. Dave Ramsey is wrong in that aspect.
