Best Hiking Trail Yosemite National Park/Glacier Point/Taft Point/Sentinel Dome

- The best day hike with awesome views in Yosemite National Park. We combined a few trails to make a loop. Glacier Point, Taft Point, and then up to Sentinel Dome. Yosemite National Park has some of the best hiking in the area. You will have some elevation gain at the beginning. Then the trail opens up along the rim looking down over Yosemite Valley. You will have some incredible views of waterfalls and half dome. At Taft point there a rail you can look down to the valley floor 3000 ft below. Then you think the views can't get any better? Your wrong! We finished off with hiking to the top of Sentinel dome. The views from here are stunning! In my opinion, this makes it one of the best day hike options in Yosemite.

The more I hike and feel better with my knowing my abilities of what I can do and can't, it makes it easier for me with my fear. Good ole Taft Point. It scared the doo doo out of me to when I went there. I would get about 20 feet away from the edge and start doing baby steps. LOL, but you did great and saw views not many other do. The views from Taft Point are hard to beat, but I love the views from Sentinel Dome much better, you can see it all from Sentinel Dome. It is tradition for me to, to have a ice cream after a Yosemite Hike. Great video Kathy.

What a great video! Congratulations Kathy on pushing your fear of heights and accomplishing what you did. I love Yosemite. I used to hang glide off of glacier point years ago. That is one heck of an experience and The best way to see Yosemite valley from a hang glider!
Wow what a rush that would be to hang glide off the point! Next time you do it, wear a GoPro and I can experience it that way haha

What incredible views! So worth it to be able to have views like those...wonder how hard it is to get reservations for the summer. Thanks for sharing your awesome hike. Have to add this to our list.
To get a camping site inside the park I think you have to book right when the reservations open up. You might be able to keep calling and see if you can get a cancelation. To get into the park, I think they still have some open. Maybe go in the fall this year when its a bit cooler and less people.

Thank you, at the time my heart was in my throat. looking back at the video I look silly haha. I have always had a fear of heights. I am trying to over come it.
My hiking started with learning I was afraid of heights on a rappelling course at a youth retreat in high school. I then proceeded to do some of the DUMBEST climbing efforts (using clothes line and the like for a "safety rope") ever, in an effort to face my fear and over come it. It worked! Years later, after teaching my daughter to rappel and lots of climbing in the rocks of Enchanted Rock in Texas, I had my "graduation ceremony" of defeating my fear of heights when I did Tandem Skydiving. Congratulations for facing your fears!
Oh not! That does not sound like a good way to find out you don't like heights. I hope I can overcome them like you have. How amazing you were able to skydive. I am not sure I could do that :)
@@KathysOutdoorAdventures It was surprisingly easy. Looking from 10000 feet it all looks "fake" and my tandem trainer just kept sliding me forward it it seemed like before I knew it it was out turn and we were out the door before I had a chance to get scared. I hired a videographer too, but I have to edit the video or I'll get copy right violations because the put Metallica as a background track.

That was so awesome. I mean, it's better than any movie! The build-up to the views, and facing your fears, it was all so real. So many other beautiful moments in the video. Outstanding views. We've never been to Yosemite. I think we've been scared of the crowds, but, geez, this makes me realize that we must go!
I think you should come sometime and visit. It is so beautiful here. Once we got off the trail a little bit we would lose the crowds. Only when we got to points that had a short trail to the points did we met up with more people. Sorry it was so long to reply :) HappyHolidays

I wasn't sure about posting this and showing my fear to others. People who are ok with heights don't understand how the fear takes over your body. My stomach was sick and heart racing. Its a real thing for me, my fear of heights. I guess I wanted to show others its ok to let people see the real you. Doug and MaryAnn were such a great help with getting me to that edge. I am so thankful I got to have that experience of looking down over the valley floor.

Thanks Taff! Ya about those pigtails, many people have had fun teasing me about them haha! It's called sleeping in a tent the night before and getting up at 530 am without any power :) The views were incredible and the valley floor was 3000 ft down. For sure made my legs jell-o!

Hi Kathy, Peter and I did this walk back in 2007 when we visited Yosemite National Park for three days. Doug you are naughty for tripping up Kathy's GoPro. The views are amazing and the cascade of water even more spectacular. We got to half point, but didn't make it to the top of the Dome Lookout. But you did it for us. Those Deer were gorgeous. Thanks! Doug and Maryann were both so much fun to be on this trail. Yes as of May 31 you need reservations to get into the park. You can go to nps.gov for all the details. We were lucky and went before they were needed. Good Luck and have fun!

Kathy! I thought you were bad a$$ before, now I KNOW you are! Congrats for doing that! I was laughing when you made your way to Taft point, but not laughing at you. Laughing because I could feel the adrenaline! I didn’t think Yosemite could get any more beautiful but those views! Our hike down Glacier Point was divine! Whose 365 degree shot was that at the end?
Awe thank you Beth!!! I am glad that you enjoyed the part with me trying to get to the edge. It is so hard to show sometimes the real feelings your having in a video. Maryann has a 360 GoPro. It is pretty cool the shots she gets for us!
Saw Maryann's version a few days ago. Had no idea you had those issues with heights, especially after that scramble up the waterfall you did a few weeks ago. You handled that well. Sarah would have booked right out and never got near the rail. JR doesn't generally have height issues, but you made even him nervous. That waterfall across the notch is incredible! Is it only like that at snow melt, or is that a year round thing?
Isn't MaryAnn the best! I think cause at the falls I wont fall to my death just maybe break a leg haha. The falls can get very low into the summer months. We were lucky to go when the rivers were full of the fresh snow as you mentioned. Thank you all for watching!

I was joking because it’s the same place that I made some videos and also my first videos. Except yours are much better because I took the much easier route just doing shorts because I can’t edit. I did the upper Yosemite falls hike higher than the falls.
