    Sweet sweet playing. I’ve seen you do 50 interviews John but never heard you play. Nothing in your rhetoric during the interviews suggests how accomplished you are as a player. Very,very,very refreshing. And, in some convoluted way is points to why your interviews are so insightful.

    My dad was a Nashville Pro (steel picker) and used Gibson amps in the 1950's. When he went to pedal steel, like most steel guys he needed something more powerful, so it was a Twin with a different transformer and a 15 inch JBL D130. Fortunately, Peavey blew all that old not reliable stuff out of the water, with the Session 400. But he did use the old Gibson with his 1955 Fender triple neck, when ever he had a western swing gig. I'm glad to see Gibson back in the game. Of course John could make anything sound good.

  • @socialmeaslesinpartnership1252
    @socialmeaslesinpartnership1252 7 месяцев назад +1

    Enjoyed the tunes mightily. At the price of those amps, there are options a-plenty including the real cheapo Monoprice 15 watt - 12" which is excellent sounding, handsome, quality valves (tubes), well made and loud-when-you-want, attenuate, gain, very decent spring reverb, send/return for your stomp boxes and in Britain goes for around £250.00 under a different name. It's basically a 70s Laney design under the hood - decent old-school soul and crankerama. All tube amps do it - that beautiful realness, the little "burr" of gain or "smash the place up" howling - Mesa and Gibson have no corner on that. Only that Fender Twins and Hi Watts are no-can-do today because of health-and-safety.
    North of a grand's a serious ask for what is pretty much the same thing. I don't see how the Falcons fit in at that kind of money because that "great little tube amp that you can carry to gigs without hurting yourself" vibe is up for grabs at a quarter the price or less, mail order. Anyone can have one. OK - made in USA......................................................whoopee.....
    Lovely playing though.

    Not sure what is the point of the 5 watts if it is possible to use the 20 watts also in 1 watts or 5 watts. Maybe the 5 watts sounds better at low volume than the bigger one on a 5 watts setting but it is not apparent from the video. I know that they are not supposed to be mimicking the same old amp but still the 20 watts seems more versatile... Both sound good thought.
    The price seems a little off, it is probably not really well built for such a price for an amp made in the US (probably PCBs made in China and assembled in the US, with plastic connectors, hence the "hand wired" affirmation (if the tube socket are on the chassis it may be that bad, but yes Messa as the reputation of not making really well built amp, so we will have to wait and see for a tech to take it apart).
