My most favourite artist. Hes true country. Soulful and raw. Hes the true outlaw. Defied the odds and romped home at a 100/1. Waylon you will never be forgotten. Love all your music. Sing it Mr Music Man.
I’ve heard this song by many legends, but this tops the whole lot. I’ve never heard such a long song by WJ. His voice is pure heaven and result is the best I’ve ever heard.
Ralph Mooney was absolutely the greatest steel guitarist that ever lived. Folks that listened to Waylon before Moon retired already know that of course. But Robby did a good job here.🎸
That's for sure and when you add Whitmore to that Sound..........Jus the Best I ever Heard..........Played Harp with Larry and the Idle Spur.....The JuJu was Outstanding!
Bobby Bare said it perfectly when he said, " Many people have recorded this song including myself, but only one man has truly sang it. " It's the best version out there there, no one beats Ol Waylon's vocals.
I can't agree with that statement. I personally think Van Morrison did a pretty outstanding performance of it. Not necessarily better than Waylon's, but as good.
I ABSOLUTEY LOVE HIM SINGING THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG. HE IS MY FAVORITE. A TRUE MASTER OF COUNTRY MUSIC. AND THAT GUY PLAYING THE STEEL GUITAR IS GREAT, ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE HEARD. I AM ALMOST 74 AND I KNOW A GREAT SINGER, SONG WRITER, WAYLON IS MY HERO, I LOVE HIS VOICE & HIM. I WISH I COULD HAVE MET THIS GREAT GUY.
damn sure special singer/songwriter, kid this here is a legendary talent that we shall never see in this flesh again. once we lose them, their gone forever. but'll never be forgotten. R.I.P. mr. Waylon Jennings.
I was so lucky to be at the concert he held in Bergen in Norway in 1983 I believe. That was awsome😊. Still listen to his songs, and now I am 75 years young………
First concert I ever saw was a Waylon Jennings concert... It was fitting because the first album I ever owned was Waylon's "Love of the Common People" album. We miss the hell out of you Waylon... you left us too soon.
The first album that I ever bought was Ol' Waylon with Luckenbach,TX. The first song that I ever played and sang to a girlfriend was off of that same album. I saw her again back in 2000 she reminded me of "that song" (Sweet Caroline) that I used to sing her. LoL That was almost 40 years ago now.1980/81 (Today 12/25/19)
I am a Classic Rock guy and only a bit Country. However listening to (the late),Waylon singing this absolutely melts me. Not only a beautiful song but sung sooooo beautifully.
Yep this is one of the bestist versions of Rodney's song. Passionately sung by Waylon. And the steel guitar is perfect if not even better than perfect. But let's give a thought to the drummer who has to be there and keep time, sit in the background and ad emotion when he has the opportunity. But not too much. Being subtle is such a skill.
TY for this awesome share!!! :-) A most wonderful version of a most beautiful Crowell song ... Waylon really gives this heartfelt song such a wonderful trietment together with a lovely steel guitar play :-) S
Ralph Mooney was absolutely the greatest steel guitarist of all time. Folks that listened to Waylon before Moon retired already know that of course. But Robby did a good job here.🎸
Absolutely beautiful. I neer heard Waylon sing this song before. He really gave it a remarkable vocal interpretation and Robby Turner's steel guitar is the frosting on the cake. Am wondering who did the back up vocals because it also really added to the song. I hope you can dig up some more videos just like this of Ol Waylon.
I like how this man basically told Nashville to fuck itself and the man did it his way and kinda funny how producers had told him this time was no good cuz waylon wanted to put it out like 3 or 4 yrs earlier then finally he took it and said this is all u got,the man's 1st #1..TRUE LEGEND SHIT BROTHA
This is the best TV performance I have ever seen. Waylon‘s voice was perfect. Just perfect. The same with Robby Turner’s steel guitar.
There was only one like this. No one else sounds like him, looks like him or has his presence. We have been left a treasure. Love him
No one can ever replace Waylon, the BEST❤
Waylon has the best voice. Period. And Robby nailed that steel!!
that voice is unique. No country singer has ever had a voice like that.
I love the lyrics and the singing is fantastic. so is Robby Turner.
Bobby said it best! Waylon sang a song and it was sung better than anyone else! His voice and delivery: incomparable!💙🙌🏻
Wow. Great song Rodney Crowell. Great job Waylon. 👏
Viva the memory and music of Waylon Jennings. Gone but not forgotten! 🥲👍
I love this song his voice makes it have more meaning.
It just doesn't get any better than this. Waylon Jennings was & is the best of them all.
Waylon's voice is perfect. Just perfect.
One of the greatest country songs ever written…thanks Rodney!!!
Ralph Mooney was absolutely the greatest steel guitarist that ever lived. Folks that listened to Waylon before Moon retired already know that of course.
But Robby did a good job here.🎸

You are the best. WAYLON Jellings forever dead or alive no one in this world can sing or play like you God bless you .
Waylon is tip top a man alone at the top just as sunlight over the mountains
One of Rodney Crowell's best songs and Waylon did a great job!
What a voice. It gives me goosebumps with his range from bass notes to high notes, richness and power.
Robbie and the moon, waylon loved his steel guitars because they blended so well with the telecaster and of course waylons voice
Somehow he always gained control again 🥀 Waylon, Forever in our hearts
Waylon, man. When I die and go to heaven, I want Waylon to be singing to me.
He had been off cigarettes about five years by this time, and his voice is sheer heaven. Still love you, Waylon - even after all these years!
I could listen to Waylon all day and never get tired of hearing his music. Taken way to soon. R. I. P. Waylon.
Waylon Jennings was a musical revelation for me. What a great singer ❤️
I never gave this man enough credit or exposure as a country music great. And he really was. God Bless Waylon.
Love his singing x
Love him and his voice such emotion in the words.
So like Waylon Jennings to focus the attention and praise on someone else - in this case, the very talented steel guitar player 💕
I absolutely love everything this man ever did. He was the grestest!
I ABSOLUTEY LOVE HIM SINGING THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG. HE IS MY FAVORITE. A TRUE MASTER OF COUNTRY MUSIC. AND THAT GUY PLAYING THE STEEL GUITAR IS GREAT, ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE HEARD. He serenades me with his voice
When waylon sings a song he owns it.RIP Waylon
Only waylon could put the soul into those words. Turner supply the musid. Once you have played one. Youll know what mean. Beautiful. Music
This song would be worth the price of admission
damn sure special singer/songwriter, kid this here is a legendary talent that we shall never see in this flesh again. once we lose them, their gone forever. but'll never be forgotten. R.I.P. mr. Waylon Jennings.
This version is absolutely amazing: great song and powerful voice. Crowell & Waylon, nothing can top this.
I was so lucky to be at the concert he held in Bergen in Norway in 1983 I believe. That was awsome😊. Still listen to his songs, and now I am 75 years young………
I think of someone who was very close and needed my help staying sober like the words are asking for understanding.
That’s my uncle Robby in the back
THERE'S NONE BETTER---R.I.P. WAYLON
Love the steel! over all great sound!

Waylon Jennings el mejor country music singer de todos los tiempos.
Freaking masterpiece.

Awesome song, Great Waylon.
An awesome version by Waylon, and Robby's steel is perfect.
First concert I ever saw was a Waylon Jennings concert... It was fitting because the first album I ever owned was Waylon's "Love of the Common People" album. We miss the hell out of you Waylon... you left us too soon.
Same here, I wore out that 8 track and he was my first concert. Miss him everyday!!

That's a beautiful song! How he would be missed! I am crying now. R. I. P. Waylon! We love you very much!
He sure was the very best there ever was.
Saw him in El Paso, there were 15 others in the show Ray Price was one , he had his15 piece band this was in 1960 cost me a whole $5
John Adams , an hair cuts were a nickel or a dime .
He is the most popular person in country music on all points at least one any way.
Ralph Mooney was absolutely the greatest steel guitarist of all time. Folks that listened to Waylon before Moon retired already know that of course.
But Robby did a good job here.🎸
