  • This is a simple overview of how a 4-Stroke Diesel Engine works.
    Stroke 1: Air Intake (piston moves down);
    Stroke 2: Compression (piston moves up, air is compressed and therefore heated up);
    Stroke 3: Fuel is Injected (piston moves down, diesel engines do not use spark plugs, this step is where the engine gets its power from);
    Stroke 4: Fuel turns into Exhaust, which is pushed up and out the cylinders (piston moves up).
