On the second shortcut, on the method with an extra trick, you can also do a bit of wiggle drifting to build up the SMT. It might not be optimal but can help if you are struggling with the soft drifting
Me and my dad really like trading times on 200cc time trial because we’re about as good as each other so the competition stays heated, though he REALLY can’t do the second shortcut now matter how hard he tries! So I guess I’m keeping this record for the time being 😂

on the 2nd shortcut ... i wonder if you can use that updraft to cut the last corner, and straighten out your path a little more, and make it even easier to be at top speed?
3:44 any tips for landing on the beam and staying on it? or just a lot of practice? i can land on it but then cant stay straight and fall off right away. got it once by slamming the breaks as soon as i touched down on the beam, but of course would prefer not to have to slow down like that.
Only tip really is to try and straighten yourself out well before you actually get to the beam. You definitely don’t want to be trying to do any course correction on the beam
So I accidentally found one while doing 150CC time trials. At the end, drop down from the wooden path onto the tiles and hold left for dear life. It should be enough to get a purple drift to make the world’s coolest recovery.
the piranha plant cutouts can even be destroyed by throwing a bomb in them, however the explosion of the bomb can not destroy them....strange but okaaaay. throwing bananas doesn't work Edit: bomb explosions work
ok, I've tested it again because I thought there must be something wrong. The explosion of bombs CAN destroy the piranha plants. The only explanation I got for the previous mistake is, that the bomb may have walked out of range lol....sorry. But as additional information: blue shells can also destroy the cutouts and the item piranha plant can also go through. Actually any item can somehow help going through, except bananas, coins, lighning and blooper (super horn works too).
I have attempted the 200cc shortcut on 150cc. The problem is you're going too slow, even with mushrooms, to make it. There's a chance its barely possible if you get a golden and aim for the very beginning of the start roof but Im unsure.
Just messed around with it a bit and wasn't able to get it. It's definitely possible to clear the gap, but getting the right angle on an inward seems really difficult so not really sure if it's viable

there's also a kinda mini shortcut on 150cc where you trick off the pond on turn one, I didn't know about this until seeing a Speedrun do it
Didn't know the cut outs were dependent on speed I thought you had to hit the side of it. Thank you for the technical info.
