Wily, try leaving both cab doors totally open when trying to raise cab. It can help! Engine would be a 477 or 534. When Ford put 3208 Cats in these they were WORLDS better!!

Actually drove these in the fire department when they were new. Usefulness depends on the motor & trans ... 4 speed not to hot. 5 speed much better 😊
Pump and bits prolly OK. Tank may be rotted out ... I see the wooden hose deck is gone. Brakes are prolly hydraulic over air ...
The whole point on these was maneuverability. The cab forward good visibility while turning 😅

    It was interesting and enjoyable.
Don’t know what you have there for sure. If that has set for years it might need a lot of little things done to it to make it usable.
May have to invest a few bucks in it to make it usable. Hard telling what condition it is in until you can get it running.
Just depends how much you want to put into it.
Thanks wiley for telling us about it.

Wily, That truck is the same exact age as I am. Overall the truck looks pretty straight. We used to have a VacAll truck that was on the same cab & chassis that was later repurposed as a salt brine truck because of its ability to handle a huge tank with the salt brine and or calcium chloride to pretreat the bridges on the interstate highways here in Kentucky.

Wily, After I made my comment, I remembered that the Ford COE trucks were also used for the highway striping setups with the long chassis.
The COE Fords that we had in our fleet were all diesel. I am not sure what engine it was though. A good number of our Ford tandem dumps that were around the same age as the COE Fords had the 3208 Caterpillar engines.
When the Fords were being replaced with the IH/Navistar trucks with the DT466 engines, Our drivers really missed the Ford trucks due to the very short turning radius because the IH trucks took 40 acres of real estate to turn around compared to the Fords. The VacAll unit that I mentioned before also had a 3208 Caterpillar engine to power it independent of the diesel engine that powered the Ford COE truck. I do not remember any of our Ford COE trucks having any gasoline engines, But the cabs inside were pretty much identical to the cab you were showing in your video.

The American truck makers need to bring back the cab over trucks with advancement of safety etc. They need to learn from Scania, Volvo, and East Asian truck companies that produce modern successful cab overs. Cabovers have better momentum than big nose trucks. There is an American RUclipsr named Bruce Wilson who is a big fan of Scania, and he even owns one or two in the US.
