  • Welcome to my very first 78 upload! I'm starting off with a seldom seen "Personal" label featuring Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians with vocal by Carmen Lombardo, from 1930.
    The song is "Sunday Evening", one of the first records of Guy's "sweet band" sounds that would make him world famous.
    I think this tune would have fit in nicely with the tunes on the soundtrack of the movie Paper Moon, dont you?
    My thanks to my friend 2reeler for restoring the audio, (taking out the pops and clicks at the beginning of my record) and for making up this awesome video for me! There were several digs on the record, which are now magically gone, thanks to 2reeler!
    Stay tuned, I've got lots of hot jazz and dance tunes from the 20s and 30s, coming soon! Thanks for listening!

    A very nice recording by the nicest musicians of their era, the Lombardos. Guy Lombardo lived in Freeport NY, while brother Carmen lived in the town I grew up in, Amityville NY. His granddaughter was in school with my brother. When went fishing with my grandfather on Long Island’s south shore in the early 1960s it was common to see Guy Lombardo tooling around on the water with one of his splendid racing boats. He liked to go fast in his boats.
    I had the opportunity to see Guy Lombardo in his last years leading his Orchestra at one of the pavilions adjoining the Jones Beach Theater. He had to be the smoothest and most graceful band leaders I have seen, very much like the music the Lombardos produced for so many years.

      Hey, Doc! Thank You so much for the very Kind comment! I am very Honored indeed! I would have LOVED to have met Guy Lombardo in person! I too LOVE Guy`s AWESOME Orchestra, His Sound was one of a kind, Even when imitated, NO one could match Him! He had His own special Sound! This Record is in HORRIBAL Shape, The Flip side "Something In The Air" is not playable! Richard Unger (2reeler) deserves ALL Credit for this Video, I just supplied The Record! He did the cleaning, And the video for Me! He is truly a Artist! And a Super Piano Music Composer! I wish We could publish His AWESOME Songs! And He would post them! Or have sheet music made for these! His latest is "Glad I`m Happy" a 1920`s style Stomp! truly a Carpet Cutter! Thank You once again!

      @@roybo1930, if you like you could send me a raw transfer of your disc. I’m just an amateur, but I like the challenge of cleaning up cranky, noisy records. Very few of the recordings I post in my own videos are mint. I have an old noise reduction program that works pretty well. (DartPro24) Anyway I’m on Facebook as Doc Murph. You can send it via messenger.

    • @roybo1930
      @roybo1930  7 лет назад +2

      Yes indeed! Slow Dancing to this would Be HEAVENLY! You Tube has sort of messed this up, It sounds like it`s under water! This poor Record has several passing dig`s I had to repair! But left loud thumping noise, So My very good friend 2reeler took out all the pops and thumps! I LOVE The Smooth playing of this song By Guy`s Orchestra! Thank You so much for Your Kind reply, I am glad You enjoyed it!

    Carmen is my hearththrob. I met Guy and Lebert back when I was younger and they were already older, in the 1970s. Sadly, Carmen was gone by then. Guy was a sweet and very patient gentleman and signed some sheet music for me. Thanks for posting this recording

    I hope the future goes back in time... I have heard they are starting to bring back tapes, so that is a start? And a music store by my home sells records like this and it is amazing, I love that the store has all kinds of music not just trashy pop. They have 20's music 50's music 60's 70's 80's all kinds. It is amazing. thank you for this upload
