This is my first bike and its been 1 year since I've bought it. I have yet to out grow the speed on it and still wouldn't say I use it to the fullest. Its been great, 7k miles, one close scare that made me learn a lot but besides that I stay within my limits. It's definitely fitting for a first bike as long as you have proper self control.
thoughts in 2024: I'll say, maybe not the most 'fitting' first bike for everyone. very dangerous especially for inexperienced. (300-400cc range would be fitting, and easily tradeable when upgrading) but I still love mine to this day and am happy I chose to start on the 600, it taught me a lot.

1 year of riding, lol...of course you can't use it to its fullest. You aren't even close. Professional riders can ride these bikes to a fault. 100% of normal people cannot. Unless you have spent every week at the track for the last 15 years, you are nowhere near riding the bike to its potential.

Ive owned both 600cc range all the way up to Ducati 1299s and can say with confidence no one needs a 1000cc engine. It’s literally boring riding a bike you can only use 2-3 gears because they’re so tall. Plus the top speed is barely different between the two classes, along with acceleration. I’d say gsxr 750 at the most but even then, 99% of the people who buy these will never ever come close to being able to use the bikes full potential. Hope you have many safe miles and just do your best to not let the excitement of speed get you into any trouble(both with the law and health wise)

Yall, r3 and ninja 400 are wicked fun and perfect for beginners. Plus, you can upgrade to 600 for new fun once you've mastered them. Fear the man with less than 500cc, for he knows how to use them all

@@jakejake7162 Hey thanks for the insight. Since this comment, a buddy of mine let me ride their yamaha R1, and I was able to get some nice pulls on a straight away.. can fully agree with what you say here. 1000cc is absolutely nuts. I'm very content with my 600 and love being able to see some higher revs before reaching unreal speeds.
But I can see why someone would want a 1000. the power is just next level

I love the acceleration clip at 4:43. I love how the sound of the engine. I love the subtle gear whine which becomes audible at high RPM, and I love how it increases in pitch after upshifting. Wow, I sound like a silly child right now. I have to get myself one of these.

    • @hectichive889
      @hectichive889 Год назад +1

Dude, I’ve been noticing that gear whine too the more I watch clips of gsxrs. I could be wrong, but I don’t feel I’ve heard them on other 600s. Is there a reason for this? As far as I know, all motorcycles pretty much already have straight-cut gearboxes I’m pretty sure, but you don’t hear them whine much anyways even given that. I will say my Indian Scout has a very significant gear whine, even at idle, but that’s because they have a gear driven primary drive. I’m absolutely in love with the gsxrs and planning on adding one to the garage, was just curious. I think it sounds pretty cool!

Sean, I really appreciate your input on all of the bikes you feature on your channel. Gives me a much better idea of all that's involved. I admit being slightly more than a novice rider having had some bumps and bruises even before owning a full motorcycle (Syms scooters, to me, are the worst!!) But with the info you and other channel hosts have provided up til now, riding is considerably easier, as well as the choices between the types of bikes and their uses. I say keep up the excellent work and one day in the not-so-distant future, I'll be able to purchase a machine from your store and maybe even take a trip up your way. Take care!!

I have a similar Kawasaki 600cc inline 4. Very low power from idle to 5,000 rpm, where you spent most time on the street. At 13,000 rpm it really wakes up- where it is used on a race track. It will feel faster with a smaller front sprocket and/or bigger back sprocket, but will vibrate more at 75 mph. If you are young the insurance is high, and the very powerful front brakes to stop it at 150 mph can get a beginner in trouble fast. The R6 is often considered best on a track, and the 636 best on the street for this style. They are best at 70 mph or above because your chest acts like a sail to lift your weight off the seat.

I’ve owned 3 Suzuki’s. 600cc , 650cc & 1000cc. The 600 was a track bike & it was very competitive. However the gsxr1000 was absolutely phenomenal on the track. Just as agile and in some ways more usable. I would probably recommend the SV 650 for a first bike over the Gsxr 600 but if you are not worried about the power then definitely. I am a Suzuki fan so I’m a bit biased. The only other bike I would consider is the Aprilia RS 660 as it gets some very good reviews. Good video. Keep safe 👍👍

In Sweden (and probably most of Europe) we have to get a separate license for motorcycles. One for mopeds (A1 - limited to 125cc, 11kW), one for "midsize" bikes (A2 - limited to 35kw/0,2kW/Kg) and "heavy" bikes (go nuts). And you can take all three at the same time.

Im probably getting GSXR 600 but its with A2 licence. It has "limiter" thats has been installed for that A2 but its removed lol

I like the looks of the bikes... I just don't think they could be the most comfortable to drive on Long hauls which I like to do but I do appreciate this video on this bike

Nate Warman incredibly uncomfortable. But, they are fun. I did a 350 mile ride on mine a few months ago. My wrists and ankles felt like they were going to fall off by the end.

Thinking about learning on a 600.. what's your take on it so far?

    • @anthonylombardo9230

@@ROTORHEADPR Been really good, best investment I’ve made in a long time. I made some beginner mistakes but better to get a little more power and work up to it than exceed it within six months. Get a good solid Gsxr and don’t worry about cosmetics till you get the hang of it because you will drop it.

Had a lot of "respect" for my Bandit ABS, found it was ultimately too fast for my daily rider. I decided on a much more "settled/tame" WeeStrom. Can't imagine a true super sport every day...but I've got a friend who LOVES his. A skilled rider on a fiery steed...sure makes her look fun. :-)

First bike was a 02 GZ250 bobber ... really miss that bike only had it for about 2-3 weeks bc top speed was maybe 70 downhill ... couple days later got a 03 zx6RR and it’s still too slow ...

My bike barely reaches 80 in top gear! First gets me to 15.. maybe 17 lol. Rebel 250 making ~17hp. I love it anyway tho! Totally reliable day after day for two years.. at least 20 miles a day, 2-300 on some.

Best modification is set the suspension for your weight.

YES!! Been preaching this for years now, FIRST mod is having the suspension set up for your weight & riding style!

can you give a short description as to how a more modern 2016+ 600 bike compares to something like earlier 05 1000 bike

More advanced and less likely to throw you off, these newer bikes were designed to keep you having fun even if you cant ride, Older bikes dont tolerate rookies the wheels lock up super fast

So I've been riding for awhile on various classes of bikes from a 2017 Kawasaki 650 KTR to 1984 Honda Gold Wing GL1200I. When he is saying "new riders" is he meaning like new to motorcycles on the whole or just the sport class?. I have a lot of interest in the GSXR though not sure how easy that transition is going to be from Adventure and Touring bikes to the Sport class.
