So, North sea went Shipwrights, Raiders, explorers. And then West Kingdom went Architects and Paladins. Give me your pitch for the 3rd game in the series. Mine is Jousters of the West Kingdom. A dexterity game using horses you flick at each other.
Curators of the West Kingdom. Set in this universe's Renaissance. Players use worker placement, set collection, and some sort of rondel to build the most impressive array of art, sculptures, and scientific discoveries in their museum.
Wow, this does not look like a game I'd enjoy at all. But your video makes very clear what the game involves and how it all comes together in the gameplay. Really appreciate this. :)
Love your videos man. I’m a huge fan of Shem Phillips and his games so this will be an instant back once it hits KS next week. Keep up the great work buddy!
I liked the older art style and sound quality better; the Architects review is a good example. Nevertheless, great video. I've been enjoying your videos and went on to buy a few games because of them.
I was really on the fence about this game but I have to say it's been a real hit with my play group. I really like it's Terra Mystica vibe without all of the stuff in TM I don't like.
Would you be shocked to learn terra mystica is Sam's favorite game? He's loaned me his precious copy for me to make a 3 min vid on it and has been seriously missing it
@@3MBG You mentioned it in one of your other vids which confirmed for me that there is TM DNA in Paladins. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who rejected that completely.... he doesn't see things the way I do... For me, Macao, Yohohama, Tzolkin and Teotuichan are iterations of the same game... age your workers to get more benefit through delayed gratification> Paladins is an engine builder in which you uncover a player board while fighting over benefits in a main board and move up on tracks which grant benefits... Woah! Woah! I love the new artwork you have. And two hours!? And pretty complex!? Oh gosh. My heart is throbbing. Okay. This is just... wow. This looks even better than west. It takes a lot from west and just adds warfare. And more complexity. And yet in an understandable way. Genius. When you say this game is from New Zealand, is the designer from there I assume? And the pray mechanic! I’m having a nerd seizure. I think you told me you know him. Tell him he’s a bloody genius for worker placement and will be known for changing the genre when history looks back on him. Of course, gorgeous art design even if the armor isn’t historically ‘accurate’ for the time period, and I won’t turn down Viking woman or blacksmiths who could break my spine as companions. I see old and new artwork. Just... gorgeous. So it sounds like you get an engine working before the end game? Cause I hate it when you get an engine going and nope! Second last turn and 10 minutes to go. This just... beautiful mate.
Shem and Sam deisgned the game, and they are both kiwis. And Garphill, which Shem owns, will produce the game. It will get distributed across the world retail by non-NZ companies, but at its core. This is an NZ project.
3 Minute Board Games well as in I’ll buy it when it comes out! Gosh! And yeah I got Architects two months ago. Listening to my 67 year old mother call me an asshole for jailing her workers is incredible. Asshitects is what two of my other friends call it, lol.
Looking forward to this one! As for my 3rd game pitch, Traders/Merchants of the West Kingdom or Scholars of the West Kingdom are the most obvious ones to me. But I'd love to see, for want of a better word, Expansion of the West Kingdom where we'd see the narrative move to a more competitive feudal system style game, where workers can be "promoted" to gain plots of land from a map, build resources & units to support & protect their plots etc. Yes, Yes it sounds like a million other games out there but I'd love to see the Garphill take on that with Mico's art :) PS. Did miss the Beard-o-meter but can get used to the mohawk-o-meter :)
@@3MBG I did think of "Lords" but it sounded too close to Paladins for me hence "Expansion" (for want of a better word). However in the feudal sense, "Lords" is perfect (worker>paladin>lord>king)
Love your vids and the new music choices are such a good change. I like the new graphics but can you display the hairstyles in a row like you did with the beards so I know the scale.
Really enjoyed my couple of plays of AotWK solo (really need to get more plays-and a win-in!) so will be getting this too! Plus I love a touch of conflict in my solo games so suspect I'll like this even more!! 😊
I think Paladins is the better game, but I know it will get played less than Architects/raiders, just due to its time and weight. It really comes down to your own desires though. If you have been enjoying this series, but always wanted something a bit weightier, this is the one.

Excellent. Thank you. I'm glad you understood everything. Unless your use of a double negative was incorrect, in which case, i don't think its my speaking speed that is your issue.
Solo mode review will be up in a few days.

As long as we can do Paul Bettany style introductions prior to jousting, I am all in! ruclips.net/video/jdWO9ozir1Y/видео.html
invaders of the west kingdom
So with invaders, you flip the rolls and play the outsiders breaking the kingdom down? That's kinda cool.

I miss the beards for complexity. :(
1:31 in I realized this game wasnt good for me. Thank you for your service
Damn. That was a good review.
Cheers Ben
Just got Architects and really like it. This seems wild though and Viscounts seems even more intense!!
Paladins is a big step up for sure
great to see another Kiwi game from Shem!
And sam too :)

Outstanding review!
Mixing the Raiders feel with the Architects style. Looks tough to learn.

Never heard of this game for some reason. Great instructional video. Your amazing video makes me realize I need to work on my channel.
It hasn't hit kickstarter yet, this was a review based on a protoype/test copy.

I look forward to experiencing this tabletop adventure. Thanks.
Great new graphics. Good review.
Any recommendations for euro games that have strong player interaction and involve strategy without feeling like a big points salad?
Crisis? Argent the consortium?
Brass? Barrage? Age of Discovery? Maybe even Imperial 2030? If you're in for REALLY hardcore interaction and no point salad - Food Chain Magnate.

Great overview! Makes me even more pumped for this game...
That's a very helpful overview & comparisons. I think I'll stick to Architects.

I've been loving Architects, I backed Circadians and I am definitely backing this, then no more Kickstarters for me for a while!

Have you adjusted your pronunciation of "deck"? :-)
Not that I am aware of. I have a better mic now, so it probably just picks it up clearer.
