    Drytron has fought well in the best group in the tournament against arguably the two strongest decks ever. Kudos. Not enough to move on but a good showing.
    Next matchup, I'd be shocked if Prankids even was able to set up their combo a single time. Every single card they have dies to everything Tear does. Maybe they can steal one game with a lock

      @@lhv2k 1) Even before the Baronne ban, the pure Snake deck was the more popular one and not the synchro version (I was playing the synchro version)
      2) The Fiendsmith variant was the peak of Snakes because the supplementary engine now became full Snake combo thanks to Beatrice.
      3) Honorable mention to Fire King variant that was the de facto Snake deck but continuously lost popularity until the other variants took over
      4) Arguably the best Snake variant we'll never get is the Fiendsmith Azamina one because the deck now got even more starters, an omni negate before the basic play, the full power of the Fiendsmith engine that can also work as starters, with the TCG banlist making it even more oppressive due to the absence of generic negates since that deck would have its own. Lacrima and Beatrice were absolutely mandatory hits, but instead of limiting SnAsh they should have banned Flam instead, the deck will be Tier 1 once we get the new set.

    Too many hand traps causing Drytrons to brick a lot. With a 2 card combo deck you need to see as many names as possible to combo off. That’s why I never liked the Herald version. Veiler and Droll might be ok (situational) because they are level 1 and can help make Mu Beta. Maxx C is ok because you draw more gas but anything else I don’t really see a need to play them.

Even if you add in San Jose, which had lower representation, like 55% (and also like 1/3 the players of the other events), the only other event using that banlist, you still get that Tear's top cut representation was like 70%, which, as you will note, is over 65%.

      And if we do the same to tear, we get a 61% representation average, with them having tier 0 representation 3/7 times
      Now yeah that short time span you listed could be counted as a separate format I suppose, in which tear would be tier 0 there, but we don't really use that logic for other decks that span across multiple formats
      The best example is probably how toss remained toss all throughout despite changes in decklists due to card releases and banlists

    • @najawin8348
      @najawin8348 2 месяца назад +1

      @@andrejv.2834 You're just wrong - that's why we talk about there being multiple HAT formats, or how Edison and GOAT are both very strict snapshots in time. Adding new cards or changing the banlist changes the format. Spyral and Zoo spanned multiple formats, yes, but that's just *_not relevant_* to the definition of Tier 0. The fact that a deck is still competitive after it's no longer Tier 0 (like Tear was) doesn't stop it from being Tier 0 during a format. There are some Spyral lists as late as October of 2018, after it stopped being T0. If we include up to that time period as well, using your criterion, it's no longer T0, since it has like 2 or 3 top cuts in the next, idk, 9 YCSs?
      So either your definition is clearly and obviously false, and Tear is T0, or Spyral isn't T0 as well. (And, spoiler, no deck is T0.)

    • @andrejv.2834
      @andrejv.2834 2 месяца назад

      @@najawin8348 I've never seen anyone mention multiple hat formats, and the reason why goat and edison have a specific snapshot in time is because they're popular to play so a specific banlist needed to be agreed upon
      Also, edison format isn't even a format in a way we normally use the term, it's just a single event
      In general as long as the top 3-5ish decks remain at the top post banlist, people tend to not call it a different format
      Another good example of this besides toss is the format in between liov and bode, when the top decks recieved minor hits and the meta was basically unchanged, you won't really see people refer to it as a seperate format, it's always tri zoo/drytron format and then bode format being next with swoso, dpe and the lyriluscs coming in to cause a shift in the top 3 decks
      That's why we wouldn't count post banlist spyral as the same format, or we wouldn't count danger tear/post february 2023 banlist tear as the same format as ishtear, the rest of the meta also shifted with them, unlike in other formats that last across multiple banlists, ishtear format being one of those as it took 2 banlists to actually change the top decks of the format there
