Thank you for doing the Vid. We need more people to share the bits of info. I'm trying to do as much of my own Mercedes Benz Repairs, than giving the dealer tons of cash...
Hi, great video! When i open my vacuum pump it was some oil inside ...Is that normal or its a sign that vacuum pump is failing ? Going to replace both seals but didnt see oil inside yours and thats why iam curious . Thank you!
I like to put a thin coat of vaseline on gaskets when assembling. Place the gasket on the water pump, taking note of the teeth of the gasket going into the little grooves in the metal pump. torque to 7 ft lbs. or 84 inch pounds. the small black plastic 'box' is called the intake resonator. By the way, oil was leaking past this gasket down onto my alternator, which I have to buy from autozone $568.
I think the pre2013 model had a dipstick. I padi teh dealer $160 to check and service the transmission. I bought the plastic tool for $7 on ebay and pump the fluid in myself now. You can pump in as much as you want, and the fluid overflows and drains back out. that's how you know it is serviced.
You can use the big O-ring that comes with the oil filter (Mann HU821X) in the vacuum pump by removing the front cover with four screws, since that's where it mostly leaks from. That orange seal inside the vaccum pump isn't available from Mercedes, and the aftermarket seal often fails too, which is why they make you spend $800 to replace the whole vacuum pump. Also, while you're at it, replace the metal gasket (MER-6420160280) where the pump connects to the engine, as that can leak over time as well. People have successfully done this on 2012-2015 ML, GL, and R class vehicles with the OM642 engine, but I believe it should work for all OM642 engines, regardless of the model year. Just remember to clean everything really well with brake cleaner and a lint-free cloth before installing the gaskets to avoid any leaks later on. Do this at your own risk since the vacuum is used for the brakes!
Would you please tell me if you were leaking engine oil from this pump or was it brake fluid? I have a heavy leak coming from the front of my Bluetec engine which may be this pump gasket. Thank you for the excellent video!
on my car vacuum pump gasket was leaking but there is one oring on front cap of vacuum pump, that oring also could bee leaking, on this video i did not change oring , i change only gasket
I think it was the metal gasket that I changed, but there is rubber Oring under the front cap of the pump that also we should change at the same time, I asked the dealer for rubber Oring but it was out of stock that time, that's why I did no;t change oring, if you not sure which one is leaking, gasket and Oring we should change both

3:38 minute the cover from the vacum pump is dirty with oil, was the dirt caused by the gasket you replaced?

Great video quick question tho did you install the transmission dipstick yourself?

Very few sites have this specific information. ¡Gracias por compartir!

Did you replace the rubber gasket under the lid or only the metal one on the pump connection?
I think it was the metal gasket that I changed, but there is rubber Oring under the front cap of the pump that also we should change at the same time, I asked the dealer for rubber Oring but it was out of stock that time, that's why I did no;t change oring, if you not sure which one is leaking, gasket and Oring we should change both
Can you get just the oring seal for outter lid if so from what dealer?
@@masihasefi7955RKX rebuild kit has both seals.
Thanks a lot for your video. Nice explained
What is the part number for front cap o-ring ?
you also leak from the cover? I'm afraid you won't buy this gasket.
You can buy the oring but in a rebuild kit RKX has it a bit expensive but has the O-ring.
