Jenni would you ever consider doing a video styling someone with the opposite body type as yourself? How much Scandi-cool can a curvy girl have??
that’s not her job, she just explained based on her own experience - her own body, learn from her and apply it to yourself according to your own needs/preferences (you know yourself better than anybody).
She styles herself, like we should. She just gives ideas. It has nothing to do with curves or not. I probably out weigh her by 30 lbs. I may take some tips but this has nothing to do with being curvey.
I've been drawn to Nordic styles for a long time since I love Japanese and Korean fashion. It's surprisingly similar (esp. Japanese silhouettes and styles). No wonder I've found myself adoring brands like Acne Studios!
I also noticed similarities to our Swedish style fashion when I was living in Japan :) Loving the andronygous street styles in Japan as well.
I sort of adapted the scandi look a few years ago when i started my minimalism journey and i have been happy with my wardrobe ever since. I used to get really anxious about choosing an outfit because everybody around me was so stylish. With my curated wardrobe i always have something nice and simple to wear
I am a Parisian and a long time admiring fan of yours... and of Sweden. Thank you for your very smart, always sharp and elegant comments on Scandi life style and fashion, which I admire greatly. Go on with the wonderful work!
Now I understand why my nordmann loves my style so much. I’m latina and we wear all tight and sexy feminine clothes lol I do, however, mix and match. Most days, I dress with neutral colors, but I also have my beautiful red dresses and things like that. Some days, I do wear oversized look, but my style is more on the feminine side. He loves it. I do enjoy your point of view on clothes, and I like your style. It’s just different. Tusen takk for this wonderful video :)
I like many of the edgy looks in scandi style. But personally I can't do most of them without a serious rework. As an hourglass or a kibbe theatrical romantic I tend to look like a lumpy potato if I do too much that is oversized. For instance I love wide flowing pants, but if I tried to pair that with a very baggy/oversized top it won't work unless I add waist emphasis. So I am personally curious..... how does the scandi look work for all the different kibbe body types? I imagine it would look very different on each one.
For me it doesn't unfortunately :( I have a curvy pettite frame and with oversized everything I look as was robbed and had to wear my husbands everything. :D I tend just to go with oversized bottoms - flared trousers etc. with accentuated waist. Everything else is just laughable on me
I agree with Jenny on most points except this one, oversize all over. Sure, for the scandis that do have a body type where those types of outfits are more flattering, like Jenny, it's common to see shirts and trousers styled that way. But I think the more softer/romantic Kibbe types lean into what Jenny mentions as "making cute/feminine cool" or "anti-cute".
I could neverrrr pull off the oversized looks. So as for myself, being a soft dramatic, I typically need garments to look more structured and/or cinched in the waist to feel my best. Often times the garments I have, without styling, come off as pretty feminine and tailored. Not as laid back as you need it to be to have that scandi feel. So I offset, say, a feminine linen dress with something like birkens and chunky silver jewelry, keeping make-up and hair looking low-key.
Making the look laid back - cool - without it becoming casual.
/Stockholmer
Also an hourglass, and kind of short. I would love to pull off those looks but it’s impossible. Even the American versions of oversized fail consistently on me. Best I can do is a loose jean jacket, and even then, it better be cropped 😅
I appreciate the cool & more androgynous spirit of dressing there, and the idea of little pressure to appear a certain ‘feminine’ way. I gravitate toward structure and form fitting because it just works for me. Appearing ‘cute’ is a bit cringe to me, though.
I'm a Swede and feel like it depends on the season for me. During wintertime when I need to wear warmer, bigger clothes I prefer to work with a balanced silhouette. But for the oversized look, I think it is more about how we feel in them like she explained; cool, edgy - and in the summertime it makes me feel a bit more "flowy" and free instead of wearing tight fitted clothes :) I think it really depends on how you feel in the clothes more than anything :)
I am French and lived 4 years in Copenhagen and that influenced me quite a bit. What I couldn´t always embrace is the super oversized clothes, I´m 1m60 and sometimes it could really look clownish on me. But I enjoyed it and still now go for comfort, neutral clothes, blazers, animal prints, and the love of a red lip yes, but I get that from France :)
Love videos on Scandinavian fashion! More of these please-as an American I just love the Nordic look and have loved changing my style into being more Scandi ❤️
This style is perfect for me living in a cool climate so layers are great. Having MS, I need comfort and things that are easy to get on and off. I can be comfortable and look stylish too. Palazzo pants with a cool design, embroidery, or details work great. I just go up a size for a flowy look head to toe!I like to pick up quality items at tag sales, thrift stores and ebay. I look for vintage clothes.
I've been to Stockholm many years ago and I'm in love with scandi fashion ever since. Now all my clothes are either moss green, navy blue, black or grey, and I love it!
I love the minimal, clean and timeless scandi look!
Jenny Mustard. The modern day Princess Grace/Jackie O. Such a vibe❤️
Hi Jenny, love the Scandi look, when I was over there a few years ago I noticed every single girl was wearing a trench coat in a neutral color. I thought it looked so cool and it's an item that never seems to go out of style.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I've always been close to Japanese and French fashion but definitely adding the Scandi style and incorporate with mine, especially those silhouettes
i love this type of videos! i went to Stockholm & denmark last summer for the first time and honestly i can’t stop thinking about everything i experience in the nordics countries. i am soo obsessed, and more so after discover that my favorite brands have the headquarters in Stockholm lol
Loved the video, love scandi style. I admire your altogether no frills, no curlicues approach to filming. There’s never a second wasted on mindless waffle.
Love this and would love more of this! . Also your makeup looks extra pretty today, your eyes are sparkling!
I think the Scandinavian cool look of dressing is awesome. The thing is I never see is older women dressing like that. Once women get into their 50s and 60s do they still do the cool thing or does it moderate?
Nordic fashion is interesting and I will apply some of the principles, but, as stated by others it's very hard to pull off if you are not VERY TALL AND SLENDER. I enjoy looking at the models and taking the pieces that are becoming to my style and figure. The makeup is my favorite 😍
I have a multiple style personality, I like the scandi, french and italian style. It depends on my mood 😎
I’d love to see a video on how you find your pieces and your favourite brands to shop from. Absolutely love your style 😍
Scandinavian everything. I am here for it!
I think you have done a great job at pin-pointing the decades long scandi style! I sort of feel like a light went on in my mind when you talked about the shapes (big plus big). It seems like the 2000's were an exception to the rule (with very tight fitting trends), as the big shapes are what keeps showing up in every family photo album I look at.
Never lived in a any Nordic country, paternal grandmother was from Stockholm! 80 year old Dad dresses very scandi, so I guess that is why it is my vibe
At a time when I think about sewing my own clothes I really like Scandi looks. Cool over cute definitely!
Wonderful, Jenny! Thank you. Having grown up in Germany I LOVED that look. I've worn oversized for decades, and still prefer it and the boyish/man style to anything flirty, fitted, and feminine. Good to have a small support group in you, haha. 💖
I'm moving to Goteborg this August for studies and I'm from Greece! So exciting 😊 I relate to some of these style tips but i also wear lots of color and statement piecies hehe. Love your videos, Jenny ❤️
Amazing! Im sure u will have the best time! I did erasmus in stockholm and i absolutley loved my time there
Good luck!
Thank you guys 🤩😊
I love Scandi style… the minimalistic silhouettes, oversized sizes, neutral tones, beautiful quality… what combo could be better? Timeless and elegant yet never boring ✨👏🏻
I'm going to Stockholm & Copenhagen in 5 days and this is superrrrr helpful!
I love everything androgynous and oversized so am naturally inclined to the Scandi look. Unfortunately, my short, curvy Cuban body doesn't look as good in it as I would like, but I do it anyway because I hate frill, tight and florals.
I as a half scandi of sorts LOVE the scan style as a baseline for my style (esp. the androgynous and more freedom), but I do throw in more fitted pieces for balance and I can't go without some cool pops of bright colour, like seriously red handbag and nails, just as a still clean juxtaposition to the neutral base
Love the scandì style, although I need to adapt it to my petite figure (so maybe the all over oversized doesn’t work with my 5.3 feet 😬, looks like I fell into my father’s clothes). Apart from that, I absolutely love the aesthetics and the coolness of it!!
Hi Jenny, love your videos! Could you please do an updated scandi summer outfits video? Summer is just around the corner and I need some outfit inspiration.
When I visited Stockholm it felt like coming home regarding the fashion. I’ve always been drawn to the Scandi look so when I came back to Belgium you definitely see a difference. Still sticking with my Scandi look though 😉
I love the Scandi style!
"From wedding white to funeral black," I never thought of it that way! A whole spectrum of life and fashion.
How cool. I like that style and I never would have thought nordics dressed that way.
i loooove scandinavian style a lot and wishing that I could have the height or long legs to pull off the outfits. I also love tone on tone style so its good to know that this kind of style will be going strong:) xx
Thank you Jenny Mustard!
I really like the Nordic look!
Love the video and the style! I've been moving more towards this over the last couple of years and while I think it's gorgeous here in Germany people are still not familiar with these shapes and silhouettes.
LOVE IT!!!!
I love it!!
A great episode, thank you! Pls do more :)
Thank you for the tips….love your look! ❤️
I grew up in UK and prefer patterns, florals and abstracts more than plain coloured clothes. I just think they are brighter and make me happier wearing more colourful clothes too, although it does take a bit more thought when putting an outfit together so it looks stylish and also to avoid too many clashing colours or patterns. I just think its a bit more individualistic too and I enjoy buying from vintage shops too so no has the same outfit as me. It was interesting to see u vid on all the different styles though. 👏
I studied in Denmark and remained partial to the Scandi look for both everyday looks and home style. However, being petite, I like a waistline and tend to avoid the oversized shape. Loose fit will do!
Love love love
Thanks for your insight and tutorial.
I'm just curious how to make it work in more of a corporate environment. I am concerned it might look too casual. I love the idea of monochomatic outfits and choosing things that are of more quality fabrics and more modern silhouettes .
Assuming you are not scandi? There isn't really a big difference between office and casual dress codes here. The "dress up for work" thing is not the same all places in the world. In my opinion all the examples shown in this video look less casual and more dressed up.
@@oda_margrethe oh that is a relief to know actually. Because I like the oversized silhouette in general and the specific styles shown in the video a lot.
I think my favorite part of the Scandi look is the oversized silhouette. I especially adore wide leg pants, and, in the US, it hasn't been a thing for a long time and never big enough (at least to me :))
As someone who is living in Stockholm - I agree with you BUT I think the looks that you are presenting here are much cooler then the average Stocholmer look :)
I’m totally into scandi and now I know it - except for the colours, I do love a bright colour all over me with my red hair and fair skin
Apparently, I'm a product of my heritage. American here, and style wise: I'm American, with French and Swedish twists (which are some of my bloodlines). I GREW UP ON THIS TOO! And Justine Leconte's rules!! People have often thought/mistook me as "someone who doesn't know how to dress," cause I don't dress typical American female, I'm just different style wise.
Love the Scandi look but don't think I can pull it off completely.
I do love a more androgynous look, oversized tops and jackets, and mixing "cute" items with something more edgy though.
Finally, I know how to describe my favorite style with just one word - ”scandi“
All Over It! Been as long as I could dress myself , yeahhh oversized 😎
i love scandi style! especially in women's fashion - androgynous, simple, edgy and clean. :)
Can you write me here what do you use for eye lids? I like this eyeshadows so much, especially on you. That warm tone with soft shine flatters you a lot :)
I feel that over 50 this would be a difficult look to pull off (It looks great though!). I gravitate more to a feminine look the older I get. But I would definity want to expirement with the no-makeup (look) on the eyes and bold lips. And the chunky shoes. Thank you Jenny for this breakdown!
I love this aesthetic, but I just want to wear these shapes in bright colours.
Scandies appear lean. Perhaps the extra oversized look wouldn't be flattering on larger figures? 🤔
I love it
대박 🌹🌹🌹
I love the Scandi style. I wish people dressed like this more in the USA.
I am thinking that one of the reasons Scandis may be into oversize everything is that - generalizing here - being larger/taller people (Viking blood!) they can pull it off! Interesting video
Hi @Jenny. Thank you for quality content. I absolutely adore Scandi-voluminous style, with one huge problem which concerns petite and average-height people like me. So, what would people my height and(158 cm-ish) wear if they like Scandinavian boxy styles?
Thank you💎
Oi , sou do Brasil. Estou muito interessada no conteúdo do seu canal. Muito bom. Parabéns!!
I have such big abstinence from your podcast - please start podcasting again xx
I'm curious if the popular neutrals ease into a little more colour in summer. Watching a Swedish TV series filmed in summer, it seemed to me that the women and also men were wearing a bit of colour, especially the greens and blues that reflected the nearby ocean culture (more colour on men than I normally see here in my home of Canada). Maybe it was just TV and no reflection on real life!
I love the look but almost nothing would suit my tiny curvy frame :( Except the colors :D
1:56 Oh my! This Coat! Can You please make a video about this coat? Ideally with an option to download it:D Thank You. :)
would love to know what you're wearing on your eyes..... i tried to backtrack prior videos with keywords makeup and eyeshadow -- but i don't think this is the bronzer/highligher duo you profiled from Inika a few years back.... /// long time subscriber - sending appreciation for all the things you share with the world, from across the ocean.
I suspect that the oversized looks just fine on the tall Scandies.. but surely, the shorter one is, the more difficult to it is without looking frumpy
Hi Jenny - would these fashion principles continue into the 70+ age group? Best, from 70 in America.
I love the oversized look, but being petite that doesn't always work. Can you do Nordic style for petite sized women. I love the style.
❤
As a petite hourglass i just can’t pull off this look. Big boots with oversized clothing totally not for me 😂
Androgynous style has such an edge that I find so hot! 🤩 tho it is difficult sometimes when one has more curves and soft lines. Tips anyone? I’m all ears 👂🏻
I love the Scandi look, but I can’t pull it off as a short curvy girl. 😭
im a scandi halife. and I confirm!lol
I wishhh I could do all oversized it looks so cool! But at 5'1 I get so completely lost, or just turn into a ball. Do you ever see very short women pulling off this look well?
I think it looks amazing, but I feel like it would be a heavy look for everyday where I am in Australia
I like clutter so I might not get on too well in the Nordic countries!
😄
Half of my wardrobe is Marimekko.
I think the look is great on tall, thin, conventionally attractive people, but oversized clothes and white all over looks horrible on my short squat frame. Wish I could pull it off.
I like the oversized look. But I'm short, so that would probably not work for me :/
Depends on how short and how you style it tbh.
You Scand-taffic ladies (at least as I understand) tend to be on the taller side. If you are petite and short of stature like many here in New England USA, too oversized can make you look like you are wearing a circus tent.
Apparently I'm Scandinavian from birth even though I was born and raised in Israel. These all apply to me TO THE T lol
I find the Scandi look cool, but it's definitely not for me as I am 1.56m. lol Oversized silhouettes just make me look like a pile of laundry.
Well, everything suits to those who are handsome and tall.
Ps, why are you screaming so many times word "feminist"?
There is no need. Sounds like you need to repeat that to believe yourself that you are "strong independent etc etc".
You are.
But if you need help with opening jar, i'm here, in Belgrade.
Naked eyes, red lips. Please.
