Lol, what? There are stairs in LBY Rocio just didn't show them. Unless, you're just talking about the look of the game. What part about beta don't you people understand?
Honestly as an advanced builder i def am excited for the pattern buildet :D I'n glad they're working on the shading/lights. The build foesn't seem as intuitive as paralives but honestly it does look pretty cool as it is at the moment! Yes it's a little basic but with lby i'm more excited for the gameplay either way. But my god it's honestly really nice looking! Not super intuitive, but not everyone needs that and/or wants it
I don't know what you mean by intuitive for it, I'm no being sarcastic I really don't. But that sounds like something you need to comment on their video about. They are seriously paying attention to their comments because that was the sort of thing they were looking to get during early access which got shut down. So if you have an insight, go tell them! They want to know.
@@nedrane297early access is still coming, they simply postponed it to 2024 and fanbase agreed that they would rather wait a few extra months to get a better early version.

Then some of the most vocal said Oh maybe they are just not good enough to compete with Sims, and proceeded to switch back and forth between how awesome LBY is and how bad it is in comparison to a finished game that is not as good as it predecessors. They made me laugh too, but they also made me really happy - so nice to know that my character will actually be able to use an item where I place it (or not, heh 😅).
Yumans or Yoomans has been catching on for the life by you characters. City Skylines was developed by Colossal Order and just Published by Paradox Interactive. Life by You is being developed by Paradox Tectonic. So technically City Skylines and Life By You are entirely different teams despite both being published by Paradox Interactive. Unlike the SimCity Series and the Sims games which are (were) both developed by Maxis under the publisher, EA. There really is no need for synergy between City Skylines and Life By You as they are two different development teams.
I think it's quite cool what they've shown. But omg they have to do so much more polishing. And I cannot imagine how all this can work with animations, I think they will just do a simple hand moving animation to symbolize interaction, which would be quite sad but on the other hand I'm not too much into that animation thing, gameplay is 100x more important to me.
I mean part of gameplay immersion for me is how the animations interact with the enviornment. Aestetics are a part of gameplay and while there's a lot positive here, the scale of things being off makes me want to legitimately see how a character would look LIVING in this house. How does a character look getting out of that big bed with the tiny endtables, does it make sense. I think sometimes gameplay is talked about like this thing that exist in a bubble. I am in the technical theater world as a proffession and almost all mini stage set models include a model of at least one person the proportionate size to/scale to the mini demo set, rather they are physical models we can sit on a table or digital models in a computer so that we can see what a "person" looks like beside the set objects or in the set environment. And I really wanted a sense of that because the scale of some the items seemed tiny and others look over large and I had no sense of how a Youman looked in the same space with the object.
Re: animations They are using procedural animations so they will adjust to the placement and varying character heights and such. First reach out and then grasp, then pull the coffee pot in front of you. Grab the mug with the other hand, pull to position, pour, etc.
I need the spacebar to be pause. I keep switching sims because I try to press space to pause. The pattern thing looked like you just use your mouse for it, so you might start using it without any trouble because its right there. Their create a character mode is already more detailed than Sims 4. Yes, it has sliders, but still more detailed already. The one thing I didn't see that I want, is being able to drop a color on something. She manually changed the color of the second couch, in Sims 3 I would have just dropped the color on it and had it match. I just get more excited with everything I see. I can't wait!
Yes to everything you said! Especially the need to drop or drag or some way to match colors/patterns exactly on different pieces of furniture or walls or whatever. I would be very happy to see that available in LBY.
I have 4 diagonal walls in my real life house. 2 of them have doors on them one of them is between the kitchen and living room and the other is in the entrance it makes the coat closet slightly bigger.
I wish the game was more stylised… the patterns and swatches look like something out of sketch up xD and the furniture looks sometimes like bad cc… so I wish the game had a proper style, Instead of being so « realistic »
I’m holding out hope, that the style they currently have is just their beta phase. Focusing their attention at the moment more on the gameplay, animations, building etc. before aesthetics. Hopefully 🤞. Honestly not a fan of the ‘realism’ either. It makes it look cheap and generally bad to look at. It’s the same gripe I have with the sims 3. It tends to poorly age games like this, pretty badly.
In TS3 I used the creative build tools all the time. It was how I created cohesive builds even though I used eclectic cabinets, furniture, etc. And I would bring in patterns other sims made and make custom items for my builds.

I assume apartments won’t be DLCs cause you can probably make them with the modding tools using the hotel tools or however it was done. I am really hoping that the DLCs for this game will be less adding stuff and more adding modding tools we don’t have. Like adding a pet modding tool and yeah add some dogs and cats but then having the tools is the main part to be able to make any pet.

I like it! But I myself am sticking with youmans for now at least... Mostly because when I hear the devs talking about them they call the characters humans and with youmans I can kinda trick my brain to hear youman rather than human so it makes me feel more comfortable lol
The main problems I find with the lifebyyou build mode are: -scales of objects don't seem accurate -when placing walls there should be indicator of how large it is eg. 3m x 4m - as you mentioned the lighting - seems that it's difficult to actually place things on or near walls and it keeps glitching out -no ability to decorate the walls of an entire room at once and you have to do each wall seperately - UI is consistently ugly and confusing -they seem to be expecting everything to be sorted by mods. However if the game isn't polished then no one will ever want to mod it This all sounds really negative. However the game seems promising and I can't wait for something open world abd a true successor to the sims 3. I just really don't want the team to get too occupied with thinking mods will sort everything and instead focus on a fun game with interesting gameplay and interactions.
This shade of purple make me think this is a very old game. I dont know which color would be better since their whole branding is purple. Maybe is just a matter to get used to it.
Agreed although I think Roccio (the community manager) hinted that we will be able to change the UI color. She just chose purple (which is the default I think) because its her favorite.
There's a lot of potential here, but it's hard to comment on it until the game is closer to release. Ultimately, for these features, the make or break is going to be the UI, and I suspect that's one of the last things they're going to develop out.
i love how it looks. but i feel like the scales of the furniture seems a bit off. it looks so small, compared to the house. to me it felt like a 30 by 30 house. but with the furniture in it, it looked like a 40 by 40 lot XD

Am I blind or is the build mode is so similar to sims 1? Not only the vibe but the way they place the options, like remember how lack luster sims 1 wallpaper and flooring menu was.
This is nowhere near sims 1. Love Sims 1, but it was so basic and difficult on top of that…especially with moving objects around (as in non existence, you commited to a tile placement). This is like miles better. Also, you can always add more objects/wallpapers/colors you only need a handful to make a proof of concept build video.
@@TheDawnofVanlife You're talking about sims 1, a game released in 2000's. Not only that but it's the first in the series. Life by you already have the blueprint, they just have to build it using their own material. I'm not dragging the game, I'm just pointing how similar the two building mode was.
@@blameitondannyIf anything the build mode (not looking at the number of objects but how the tools are actually used for building) is still nothing like Sims 1 and way closer to Sims 3.
@The8bitbeard I know that. I was just curious on which route would be taken. When I look for where I am from, you can pre-order now on epic but can't pre-order it on steam(not sure if that is the same for everyone).
I don't see the point in pre-ordering any game. This isn't 1990, they're not going to run out of the game at Blockbuster. It's digital. I'll get it when it's out. Also, I like to wait for REVIEWS. I am still on the fence about this game. Also, Steam...without question.
Im excited for the gameplay and the customization (character creation and building) but the aesthetic and visuals are so ugly to me. I hope modders come in clutch with some customization in that department with some CC skins, hairs, face details, furniture, lighting , etc. If the gameplay is good the visuals can be tweaked. I don't see them doing many major changes with the visuals by March if it is still looking like this in the demos.
I think most of the things that you did not like is because you want the layout of the build and buy mode to be exactly like the Sims 4 lol, I don't see why people love the build and buy mode in the Sims 4, all of the furniture look like plastic toys, the build tools are ok but come with limitations, the limited swatches look horrible and none of the sets ever match, plus the UI and the icons in the game overall look outdated and seem like they were made in a hurry, finding building tools was very annoying when I started playing the sims 4, so idk, I think simmers need to let go of the sims 4 and the sims in general and accept that other life sim games will have a different approach to everything bc life by you or para lives are not going to be the next sims games, they are their own games.
Ah, I thought I was the only none who found Sims 4 build/buy to be underwhelming! But I also agree that it’s not a great plan to keep comparing new life sims to The Sims; as you note, they are different games so there will be differences. I feel like if you just keep expecting them all to be exactly like The Sims, you will end up feeling disappointed and depriving yourself of all the fun you could be having with a shiny new game!
@@Sim-dil-e-iciousYep, I’m sure some people will never even try any new life sims that come out, and I’m okay with that. And even those of us who do move on to other games will still remember our first loves! But the op’s point wasn’t that any one needs to get rid of The Sims or quit playing Sims games; they just need to quit expecting that other life sims are going to look or play exactly like The Sims. Personally, I’ve played all four of the main Sims games, starting with the first when I was a kid, and I still play all of them regularly, excepting 1 because my discs are packed away at the moment. And I have things I love, and things I hate, about each one. My favorite is 3 because it comes closest to the life sim I would make for myself (you know, if I were some kind of massive game creating genius). So I’m looking forward to seeing how close the new games come to my personal ideal! 😊
I dont know, something is off. I dont know if its the scaling or the overall design of the furniture, but it feels very dated. More customizations aren't necessarily better if the basis is ugly.
I love your videos but, you should really try to highlight the positive points, because you mostly highlight the negative and what they can change, but that does make the video feel quite negative in the end. No hate just love by the way, I just wanted to voice my opinion ♥
“you wouldnt see a build in real life with diagonal walls” me looking at all those ugly modern builds that are being pumped out in my area that almost always have some weird ass wall stuff going on “oh how i wish you were right satch”
I really dislike the developers calling them humans. I understand them not wanting to call them cims like in Cities Skylines. Even if spelled differently, it sounds too similar to the franchise that they probably want to distance themselves from. They could’ve just called them characters. With the name of the game and early prom, it felt like they were looking at storytelling and gameplay. From this perspective, calling them characters would be natural as they are the characters in the story of Life created By You. On that note, I really like how this game seems to actually focus on the gameplay. I’ve played the other franchise since the beginning, and I’ve never been much of a builder or character creator. For me, fun always began when I got characters and the town come alive through all the small decisions that the characters made for themselves or I made for them. I enjoyed watching who they end up dating or marrying, what careers they chose, and of course, what drama started to brew. I really hope they continue to put most of their efforts in this direction. As long as the lighting is okay and there are enough of basic stuff, I don’t worry about e.g. lacking in furniture style. I expect that there will be modders creating assets for this fairly soon after release, adding stuff that the developers missed on that front. If the gameplay isn’t there though, that is something that is more challenging to mod and that is more likely to run into issues with game updates and/or other similar mods. This is why I hope the developers themselves do a great job with the gameplay. And what I’ve seen on this front thus far looks somewhat promising.
As someone with a literal degree in Interior Design/Architecture I fucking hate sims 4 build mode having used actual programs like revit, sketchup and autocad. It's so clunky and limiting and takes ages to find swatches I don't hate or look awkward, Life by you seems way better.
I don't know something about LbY simply don't click with me, it may be the textures and/or the lighting, not to mention the atrocious UI, and I LOVE purple, but it looks like they're making the game just for the sake of making it and taking the public for granted, just like EA does. I might be very wrong, and I hope so, but we'll wait. Also I love the indicator for wheter you can use or not the furniture, it's very handy.
tbh i dont feel like life by you will be a good game by any means. I think they will leave all of this free 3D objects in game and will count on players to do all the work for them with mods and stuff like this. If they really wanna release it in 2024 then its not going to be good
It's not a release, it's an early access beta launch. I mean I personally am still "meh", but I think people are attaching game release to what is an intentional early access launch. There is no full game release date as far as I know.
It has a lot of customization in terms of colors and patterns yes but in terns of actual architecture its just as bad as the sims. U cannot build anything thats not just a square suburban house. Hopefully they work on that
They have such a talanted crew and attention to detail, it’s unfortunate that things look so dated. I’m still excited though considering I’ve thrown EA in the trash & that they ruined my favorite game
Bro I agree… I know a lot of people really hate the clay like style that paralives and sims has but I really like it. To me this looks wayy too much like IMVU or something. Really uncanny…
One thing i know for sure that there will be very talented people that will make presets and mods and everything …basically they will fix any game … so im not that scared how this game will be … 🤍🥹
I'm more excited about the modding possibilities than the game itself. We can really grab hold and make it our own. I'm going to give an entire world an Edwardian theme, including the dialog.
You have a lot of faith in something people do voluntarily mostly for free in their free time while holding down actual jobs. I know some people have turned modding for Sims 4 into a mini bussiness opportunity, but first the game has to come out (early access is not a FULL GAME release, we still don't have a date for that). and second it has to appeal to enough people that a modding community is the result. It's not like the day after release 15 people are going to independently decided to offer every mod under the sun in an easily downloadable drag and drop format.

@@TheDawnofVanlife You're talking about sims 1, a game released in 2000's. Not only that but it's the first in the series. Life by you already have the blueprint, they just have to build it using their own material.
I'm not dragging the game, I'm just pointing how similar the two building mode was.
@@blameitondannyIf anything the build mode (not looking at the number of objects but how the tools are actually used for building) is still nothing like Sims 1 and way closer to Sims 3.
iirc the game dev is smaller but any updates on Paralives?
Are you pre-ordering the game on epic or waiting for it on steam?
Whether you preorder on Epic or get it on Steam, everyone will get the game on the same day.
@The8bitbeard I know that. I was just curious on which route would be taken. When I look for where I am from, you can pre-order now on epic but can't pre-order it on steam(not sure if that is the same for everyone).
@@333kbool Steam obviously, epic launcher suck
Well i don't build so i don't have a problem
Looks like Sims 3 for me
I think most of the things that you did not like is because you want the layout of the build and buy mode to be exactly like the Sims 4 lol, I don't see why people love the build and buy mode in the Sims 4, all of the furniture look like plastic toys, the build tools are ok but come with limitations, the limited swatches look horrible and none of the sets ever match, plus the UI and the icons in the game overall look outdated and seem like they were made in a hurry, finding building tools was very annoying when I started playing the sims 4, so idk, I think simmers need to let go of the sims 4 and the sims in general and accept that other life sim games will have a different approach to everything bc life by you or para lives are not going to be the next sims games, they are their own games.
@@Sim-dil-e-icious "the sims stood the test of time" All of the sims games are broken and 10+ years old lol see this is why EA scams you lmao
I hope the lifebyyou team makes more an effort to make the clothes fashionable and MODERN unlike the sims 4 team.
As a vegetarian, I'd never just pull the pepperoni off a pizza and eat it. Yuck. 😂

I still play the Sims 3, all the time, and my favorite thing is customizable color for EVERYTHING. That's why I am not happy with the Sims 4.
It has a lot of customization in terms of colors and patterns yes but in terns of actual architecture its just as bad as the sims. U cannot build anything thats not just a square suburban house. Hopefully they work on that
There’s something flat and one-dimensional about it that turns me off. S4 is definitely the more beautiful game.
the game is just generally so ugly I can’t lmaoo
They have such a talanted crew and attention to detail, it’s unfortunate that things look so dated. I’m still excited though considering I’ve thrown EA in the trash & that they ruined my favorite game
Bro I agree… I know a lot of people really hate the clay like style that paralives and sims has but I really like it. To me this looks wayy too much like IMVU or something. Really uncanny…
Hence, I'm currently leaning towards Paralives, ngl.
I hope there will be a paywall for sex mods and other adult mods I be okay paying $10 a month for good mods
Sims is a best game in the world❤
subjective.....

@@TheDawnofVanlife they r what makes us still play the game.. truly 🤍🤍🤍🤍
