💯 on the halves ! I am working towards the cap bust and the seated in a good state . So I hope to obtain them for a fair price in a slab and hang on to them for a long time . Small treasures ! @@bradleyozbun1012 I will look into that, i’ve always found it a little weird that the Mercury dimes had a fasces, that bundle of sticks with an axe, on the back of them, that was a fascist symbol that became popular with Mussolini.
I like those stores the coins they have on display are better than any coin shop where i live. All the coins are behind the counter, and you have to ask to see anything it SUCKS....I like the antique stores cool vintage stuff have to admit those heads at the end surprised me LOL
Most people say avoid antique stores if you are looking for coins but sometimes you can get a good deal. A few months ago I stopped at an antique store and one of my LCSs had a booth there. I started looking through and saw that he had quite a few Benjamin Franklin's and walking liberties packaged three at a time in coin flips. Most were priced at $35 but some were 33 and even some for 30. Over the next couple of months I bought 3 packs or nine coins each week. Eventually I cleaned them all out of the 33 Benjamin and started grabbing some walking liberties. My plan was to clear him out of all of those and then possibly start out on the $35. Well as fate would have it as I was picking up the last few 33.00 walking liberties another gentleman came in and started grabbing all the rest of the three packs that he had. I'm assuming he took pretty much all of the 35s. The owner had been in in the meantime and restocked with similar coins but he had them all priced at 37.50. Oh well, it was nice whole it lasted.
@@steveschindler2802 yes, sometimes the antique stores lack on updating prices, A couple months ago I bought complete 20th century typeset book at Antique store with a 1878 Morgan dollar a 1923 piece dollar as well as Barber half, 2x Benjamin half, Kennedy half, Barber quarter, standing liberty quarter, 2x Silver Washington quarters, two. Mercury times and other nickels and pennies for $120 flat, The melt at the time was over $120,
I WOULD LOVE TO SELL THOSE LIBERTY QUATERS. I have hundreds of these coins. If I sold I’m making double my money on that. They are worth a little more than 5 dollars, all I can say is trust me bro. I would literally make thousands of dollars in profit if I sold at those prices. Literally not metaphorically. I’m also buying walking liberty’s at a little over ten bucks a pop. Only rare dates or exceptional condition are worth above the silver melt value.
@@NOTurbuisness-r5q well, rn the market is more ASW price driven. There are times when they are driven more by Numismatics. Silver is not like Bitcoin or a volatile stock. Silver is more like real estate, buy it cheap, hold it maybe a year or two, enjoy owning them, then sell them when the markets are popping. Also you can get more the a few paper dollars if you barter or trade. It depends on how you put them to work. Also they are an extra hurdle to spending your money. Even if you break even when you sell, you enjoyed playing with them, showing them off to friends, then when you need a little money… sell.
Man, $20 is really high for barber and walkers. The Morgans are pretty high on price too. You should be treated nicely by having the opportunity to pay junk prices for those walkers and barbers. The Morgan’s i think should be around $30. How about we just forget that and have fun in the hobby. Great video.
I paid $15 each for 4 half dollars at the first place and $14 each for the two Benjamins at the second store. Little higher than I wanted to but I was buying them for the video and I had just sold a DVD/VCR Combo for $60 that morning, so I didn’t care about splurging just a few bucks extra.

I like Benjis the best. I don't know why--they are arguably the most plain coin the US mint ever produced. Artistically, they are nothing compared to Walkers. Maybe because my Dad's name was Ben. I got 18 of them in 8 rolls of halves about 2 months ago from the local bank. Since then...nothing, not even any 40%. Good coins but no bargains in those shops you visited.
@SilverGarage yes I know. The one I have is cool. Apparently in the 60s some were counterfeited 4 collectors made with melted sterling, almost perfect. I paid like 15$ for it b4 because of cool backdrop story and still silver value. King of like the guy that counterfeited nickels in I believe 1942
