After a ton of experimentation, I have settled on Growstones in my outdoor (and indoor for that matter) garden and couldn't be happier. Very informative, thanks John.
They all work great but have different watering and fertilizing needs. Some dry faster and will need more water, some have a few weeks of fertilizer already in them. They are all the best for the way they are put together.
Any garden soil, yes. I'm still slow to pick up the 3 n 1, but I would assume yes. Promix is a pretty blank slate and works well with amendments and other soil blends. However, it is designed for fertilizer and quick drainage.
You know this is a tough question because it literally is all about personal preference and experience. We've tried them all in various forms and each one has its own benefits and setbacks. We go through a lot of Foxfarm, Roots Organics, ProMix, Detroit Nutrient Company, Nectar for the Gods and more. Really the best way to start is with a fortified soil to take some of the guess work out of it and then work into an inert growing medium to get more control of the nutrients your plants receive and when. So to answer your question: They're all the best depending on which grower uses what!
Lol, must be my wicked midwest accent. This is what I'm trying to pronounce. hy·dro - /ˈhīdrō/ water ton - /tən/ a unit of weight equal to 2,000 pounds No matter how you say it, most people will know what you are talking about. Potato - Tomato 🤙
Soil is natural and so are insects. Insects can be brought into a grow in many ways. Soils could be one, typically its unhealthy plants that suffer from insects. If a plants Brix level is above 12, it's nearly invisible to bugs. Bugs are nature's way of speeding up the decomposition of sick, dying or dead plants back to the soil.
@@HorizenHydroponics ty for replying,,I keep getting thrips and gnats, even gotten spidermites from store soil.since I get same soil at different locations, I figure it's the way the seller stores bags of soil.no clones from people.

Everything you talked about never included anything about organic living soil ...nature’s way - complex soil with biological life! Not crap you need to buy in a store. Ridiculous
Dan, thanks for your opinion. The video was not about biological or organic growing. The video was on growing media selection, so you are right. Check out our other videos for the answers to your questions... oh, did you have a question about bacteria and fungus and their role in plant nutrition? Drop me a line! Solid beard and stache brother! Thanks for the video too.
I was waiting for the info on each of the soils you had shown but you never mentioned the soil !!
Thank you for the feedback. you are right. It is the basic info on how to read a bag of soil.
@@HorizenHydroponics Me too, I was waiting as well. Wanting to hear about ProMix BX
What's your take on k9 cube??? I got a 3.8 cubic foot bag of fox farms lucky dog k9 cube.
Is it any good???
Certainly, it's a solid bag of soil. It's compressed for ease of use. It's got loads of goodies for excellent plant growth.
What's your opinion on mother's earth soil?
I wonder if Fox farms can make a soil that imitates Terra preta a soil made by the Mayans
Frickin knew I heard that Michigander accent! Will have to check out the nearest location.
Can you mix the pro mix hp with a 3 in 1 ?

we are in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamzoo and Byron center
If for nothing else your beard gets a thumbs up!! Hope mying gets that impressive. Good video.
what's your thoughts with organic fertilizer that has a NPK of 4-4-4
Sounds like a decent start to finish nutrient. Back it down the last couple weeks of the plants life as not to over fertilize in the end.
@@HorizenHydroponics thank you . many people I have asked on you tube or online couldn't give me an answer .
Pot was so easy to grow in the 80sand 90s hell i grew. It under the bed never had no fancy lights or soil
That pot was also about 7% THC where it's common to hit the 20's with a home grow now. Science.
It’s still just as easy, you can just manipulate environment in order to maximize potency etc
Rock wool🤯, what will they think of next? Great segment, interesting stuff! PS I'm making long beard friendly masks if that's of interest👍🏼
