I like that you don't play around, you add a touch of humor at times, but mostly quick and to the point. I don't have time to watch videos all night. Just give me the facts, and I can take it from there ... just saying. I appreciate that you share you experience in hydroponics. I know I will make many mistakes, but with your guidance maybe I can avert a few.
+Gloria Tellez (Glo) thanks Gloria. Always happy to answer any questions you may have too. I like to keep my videos short because I'm quite an impatient person so my vids reflect that. Lol.
I love how you just say the stuff. Some other videos would take 15 to 30 minutes to convey the same thing, and I would have to fast forward half of the stuff to save time. Thanks!
hi everyone ,if anyone else needs to find out about how to build an inexpensive aquaponics system try Proutklarton Surviving Instruction Plan (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my neighbor got cool success with it.
Actually really liked how the video was presented - quick and to the point, exactly what you want when you're trying to get info. Subbed. Trying to create an aeroponic system - any tips?
I love your channel !!!! A lot of good information , thanks for sharing!!! I'm from Brazil and is very difficult to find this information here, congratulations for the work of disseminating information!
A Question Sir! So if my water is properly aerated, then this mediums are not very important (I'm not talking about growing something exotic like succulents, just ordinary stuff like lettuce, parsley & blueberries) thanks in advance. P.S. Got Subscribed.
Very helpful and informative video. So for clarification RUclips university student, please advise The thicker mediums or something with root moisture protection is ideal and likely good for stability and root protection if using kratky method, but a medium is hardly necessary at all if using well regulated aeration methods with water that is full. Is that correct?
Is growing peppers with single-part nutrient solution possible in a hydroponic system (DWC)? I have jalapeno plant in normal hydroton using a single nutrient and it's doing ok. I'm interessted in switching to hydroponic with DWC. But I don't really want to mess around with several nutrients. So would single part nutrient in DWC also do the job in an ok manner? (I know that it cannot compete to multi part nutrient solutions)
It's still hydroponic no matter what system you use...Floranova veg OR bloom will do both veg and bloom...I do however use cal-mag and multizyme with my mix...base nutes at about 450-500ppm, then add your cal-mag and multizyme all the way through, ph 5.5-6.3...when your plant are big and drinking alot, this can sometimes raise the ppm quite a bit and lower the ph as well, sometimes below 5...top off with a weak nutes (200-300ppm) and ph at 6.0-6.3...I never feed to the recommended dose, I always feed at a 3rd strength...less is more imho...good luck I grow both DWC and coco...
I'm using smartpots and I rly love them. Also the taste of a grow in a good soil mix. But I would like to use the benefits of hydroponics. Could it be possible to use the benefits of soil and hydro together? I already have tested it for a week, with massive overwatering my Soil in the Smartpots and had also a massiv root growth outside the pots. They looked rly healthy and I had a good growth of my plants, without any overwatering damage, even my Soil was 24/7 moist and well watered . But I dont know if its worth or a good idea to invest in a Hydro System for Soil potting. The most people say its stupid and a waste of money, but the roots looked so good, they ware so long and white and I think this could be much better if the water was recycling. In my setting the water stood in my container, with my Smartpots. Best greetings from germany!
So your just setting your smartpots in a tub and over watering? I'm thinking thats a bad idea. The nice thing of hydro is that whatever you do to the water will instantly be absorbed by the plant. With soil it will absorb nutrients and hold them for long time periods.
Nothing against the video. I'd be willing to bet though that I'm not the only one that would appreciate a little table that quickly compares each media you're talking about. Even if it's only up for a few seconds and we can pause to read the data.
Love your vids mate Question you've probably answered, Ive decided on coco coir for my dutch bucket setup and ready to start planting. Will the little pieces of coco plug up my system over time ? Cheers andy
Andrew Bristow Thanks Andrew. You can put an inline filter in the drain for each bucket. Or are you referring to the spaghetti (feeder) line clogging? In any case this system while productive is not without maintenance overheads. You’re just gonna have to keep an eye on it.
Atom izer Hey Atomizer - big fan of yours on the forums, have learned so much - any advice/tips on how you do/don't do this? I've actually been trying to plan out in my mind how I'm going to do so; I was going to essentially replace cloning neoprene collars with rockwool collars (probably with a poly-film moisture and light-blocking cutout on top?), but I figured I'd cut down each rockwool cube into a flatter disc or smaller shape, but I'm not sure how much of the stem to leave exposed or leave buried in the rockwool, in terms of initial and continuing exposure to the ultrasonic fog I'm creating/pumping in gently. You think the rock wall should be as minimal as possible? Vertical cylinder or column? A flat horizontal disc or section of the cube/plug? Do I want the section of the stem that I intend to throw out roots to be completely exposed to air/fog? Or just partially??
I use cultilene brand mini rockwool cubes (croutons) in the netpot. The trick is to split the roots into 2 distinct zones, those in the netpot and those outside the netpot. The rockwool supplies the plant with nutes/water initially. The roots exiting the netpot will adapt to the mist/fog environment as they grow into it. When you have enough aero roots to support the plant solely on the fog/mist, the rockwool has served its purpose and can be allowed to dry out. (nice dry stem, no algae etc) If you overwet the roots outside the netpot, they wont adapt to the fog. If you dont provide the plant with water/nutes, it cant grow any kind of roots and will likely keel over. Dont be tempted to use hydroton in place of the rockwool cos it doesnt hold enough moisture for this application. Aero roots grow very fast so it doesnt take long for the rockwool / suspended roots to switch roles as the primary water/nute provider.
Wow - that's exactly what i need to know... And some great insight for me on early root adaptation from RW to fog, plus verifying my hunch on the RW vs hydroton - THANKS. So the fog (mist in your case, unless you're still doing the ultrasonic fog for cloning!) doesn't penetrate/wet the rockwool, THROUGH the net pot, either initially OR (if applicable) continuing after cubes dry out/net pot fills? ...If you think the weight/pressure/speed of the fog I'll be gravity- and (low speed!) fan-feeding into the rooting chamber probably WON'T permeate the rockwool layer, and that that rockwool layer will be totally dry (at least on top), then that's a load off my mind in terms of more or less sealing the sites from venting TOO much humidity (for the sake of algae as well as soaking the air to excess).
Waaaaaaahhhhhh????? I've been using ultrasonic foggers for a really long time with excellent results. You got to run them on a short cycle timer. Why do people try to run them 24/7? Sorry about your luck. If you're getting low fog output you should buy foggers from a good company because the $2 amazon foggers are junk and not even worth it.
Thanks for sharing the awesome info with all your viewers. Really enjoy your style of editing and all of the recommendations you give. I would like to point out that cation is pronounced as if it were two separate words, cat-ion, not cat-ee-uhn.
+alex gonzalez For a "soil-like" experience, try coco coir. For ease of irrigation (i.e. just switch on a dripper ring and let it drip 24/7) try hydroton clay balls.
I ran across ☝🏻 of im your videos very informative. Much appreciated. All your hard work love your videos, perfect speed of talking no bullshitting keep it up man. Thanks.
please don't recommend peat!!!!! We don't produce peat in bogs anymore. which means it's in not sustainable. please make a video exspalining this to your fallowers like many other have.
Tomato will grow excellently in 100% coir, outdoors in pots, using hydro fertiliser. A few herbs won't as it holds too much moisture, but I guess Tomato grow so fast in warm weather it's not a problem. It's great in a mix with compost and perlite. My water is pH 8 so no limestone required.
Ha! Looking through the comments and many people saying they didn’t like the talking speed. I wonder if my brain is wired in a higher gear because I didn’t even notice that you were talking fast... I thought it was just fine.
you've done a video on rock wool and Coco.. you should do a video for vermiculite (and perlite, growstones). your videos are always beautifully dense in information.
This would be so much easier to watch if you didn't talk so fast. I had to watch it a few times in order to absorb the information. Nevertheless thanks.
I enjoy the speed of the information but you didn't really say ANYTHING. Relay your personal experience and get on with it. People looking at these videos want someone to make a darn decision for them not make the decision more convoluted!
Its simply poor presentation technique to speak as fast as you do. Viewers have no time to think about the significance of what you are saying. Frankly I felt like I was entitled to a headache after I watched a few minutes then switched off.
John Pearson Thanks for your feedback John. I genuinely appreciate it. I should also point out that RUclips provides viewers with various pacing tools, namely: the playback speed (click little spanner icon and select X0.75 or X0.5 playback speed, and the pause button ⏸. Good luck with your garden.
i understand english but im not native english . You're talking to fast, you're rotating images to fast, if someone wants to learn something from this video , will have a hard time following you. I wonnt subscribe to you ,youre not good for gardening . Sorry to say but i gave you a dislike. Im interested in gardening to learn new stuff not to hear you talking fast like a machine . Learn how to attract worldwide audience then you're good to make tutorials or guides specially about gardening and specially for beginners. Gardening is not for superficial guys.

For anybody that might be a bit slow like myself, I suggest 0.75 speed on this vid XD
I didn’t know you could do that. Knowledge is power!
Thanks
x2 all the way - aint nobody got time for slow Utube
dude for real
I usually watch videos at 2x, most RUclips videos are painfully slow😁

Awesome videos, straight forward and to the point!!
Hate waiting for other people to get to their point.
Billy . Myers Thanks for the feedback! I value your time.
Love the content and especially love the upbeat format!!
+dkroen17 Thanks Dkroen.
Hi I am very new to this, I was thinking of using fine bark.would that be uuseable?
Actually really liked how the video was presented - quick and to the point, exactly what you want when you're trying to get info. Subbed. Trying to create an aeroponic system - any tips?
What tomato trellis is that? Wasn't mentioned in the video.
you are the very best hydroponic review in youtube I wonder why you don't have a million subscribers
Do you think it would be possible to use shredded HDPE plastic chips as a grow media?
This is a great video, but thank goodness for speed control. The guy speaks faster than I can think.
Great info. My brain has a hard time processing all this info at such a fast pace. Will watch video again!
And again and again and again.
I love your channel !!!! A lot of good information , thanks for sharing!!! I'm from Brazil and is very difficult to find this information here, congratulations for the work of disseminating information!
soooo. "Which growing media is the best?"
Can you make a video on ozone water and its benefits?
A Question Sir! So if my water is properly aerated, then this mediums are not very important (I'm not talking about growing something exotic like succulents, just ordinary stuff like lettuce, parsley & blueberries) thanks in advance.
P.S. Got Subscribed.
Is it possible to use rocks you would use in aquariums?
what about suretogrow substrates and also hollow fiber as a substrate?
Very helpful and informative video. So for clarification RUclips university student, please advise
The thicker mediums or something with root moisture protection is ideal and likely good for stability and root protection if using kratky method, but a medium is hardly necessary at all if using well regulated aeration methods with water that is full. Is that correct?
After a quick google search, the Kratky method has nothing to do with solid mediums/substrates at all. Its just a type of hydroponics.
Can wood chips do the work?

Thanks for all the detailed, easy to watch videos. Would love to see a small project, step by step from start to finish.
+Oscar Luna thanks -- yes I should make a few diary vids.
+Everest Fernandez (Just4Growers) do it, I'll clone the project and report my results.
this literally answered everything i wanted to know thank you

Nutrient or water hardness precipitate

+herus schafron Only too glad to help. Obrigado por assistir meu amigo!
You can use pea gravel with a pump and reservoir.
I only like a bit of rockwool around my fogponic just in case there is a power or pump failure.
I use rockwool but its only to provide a moisture reserve until the rootmass is large enough to be supported solely by the mist/fog.
Atom izer

mind blowing as always
Good stuff!
isn’t the term *Growing Median* ?
Thanks for your question, Anon. The singular form is "growing medium"; the plural form is "growing media".

Maybe its me, but I like this fast talking. You absorb more information, wasting less time.
How do you absorb anything that you're unable to understand? Not everyone is the same 🤦 Either way, the information is very helpful.
You can control the speed of youtube videos for reason
play at 0.75 speed
Lay off the stimulants and slow the Helll down. Please
