Never forget I heard about his accident while I was in summer school in the middle of class. I also went to a school that no one knew what nascar was in S. Florida. But we still heard the news in the middle of class to show you yeah no o e watched nascar, but they knew who Davey Allison was. Sad day. He was a Great Man! The great ones do die young.
It's been over 30 years and everytime I run across an old or newer picture or video of Davey, and Alan Kulwicki also, it brings back some seriously fond memories, but on the other hand some sad and heart breaking memories and feelings as well. Savey and Alan were my top two drivers for several years and I watched then race every race through the 92 season. I still have every race on VHS tapes. They both were anazing men in different aways, but in many of the dame ways as well. Both were great drivers and both taken way, way too soon. I had several more favorite drivers like Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Kyle Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr., Bill Elliott, and more. They all have passed away or retired now and NASCAR racing is more of a joke now days. When Davey and Alan died, my interest in Nascar took a big hit. I watched a race here and there, but when Dale Earnhardt crashed and died that was it for me.
First time seeing this. Truly enjoyed it. Chuckled a few times like Robert's pre-race mention of "Bumpergate" from 1982. I was just a kid but these were such great times rooting for Davey and that #28 bunch and the Havoline T-Bird. Great, albeit far too brief.
Davey Allison was a good soul, I remember telling my mother as a little boy "he didn't deserve to die like that". Davey would have won more races had he lived.
Davey was warned about flying a helicopter!! Too many things can go wrong, and all it takes is one screw or nut to be compromised!! He said he would take his chances!!
even Dale Earnhardt himself said he might not have won seven Winston Cups if Davey was still alive. He could tell Davey was a purebred racer similar 2 him in his upbringing even though Davey did have a bit of an advantage because his father was more successful than Ralph but Davey clearly knew his road. Dale believed Davey could win a Winston Cup or maybe two and as he said in his 1994 thank u video for his seventh championship he was more than a competitor 2 him he was a friend.
I remember this speedweeks like it wasn't even that long ago, that was a big deal when they wrecked the car in practice BUT it turned out the backup was a better car. Had they run that car in the Busch Clash he'd have probably won that race as well... Davey is the only Ford driver I have ever rooted for, I soooo wish he coulda pulled off winning the Winston Cup that year but it just was not meant to be...

This footage is gold.
And that my friends is a class act of a NASCAR driver!
Yeah he shoulda won the championship in 92'
We were robbed of Davey. He had so much more life to live and races to run.
You can tell how good of a dude he was.

My favorite ever. Best team ever. Pure heart
He was not just a good driver he was first a good person
Not just a good person, husband farther and son.
Davey was the first nascar driver I cheered for after he passed away I rooted for Dale Sr and he was the last I truly rooted to win races!
Not really what Davey could have been if he survived that helicopter crash
Gone too soon
