    I enjoyed the tour you gave me of this car at Carlisle. I'm envious. my 9-5 is a 2005 wagon but automatic while yours is manual. Great video.

    Months later… but my ‘99 9-3 5spd cv is frost grey, too! “Blue” (as I call him) will be officially 25 yrs-old in Feb 2024. Rare color only for this year, I believe, but I’ve met a few other Saabers in my area w/it. It’s been mine since ‘02 when I bought it in SoCal, still my trusty daily driver, but a companion 9-5 wgn for NE winters would be nice as well, even better if it’s also MT. Same color/MY would be amazing… yours is a beautiful car.🚙
    *The perforated seats are different, and odd that there’s no turbo gauge? One very thoughtful thing I really appreciate in the 9-5 (my Saab mechanic’s loaner)… that driver’s side dual sun visor! Such a simple thing but oh so helpful.😎

    Since you asked your viewers, my view is to keep the car, it's a classic! Get a good weather proof car cover for it and a good under-coating to prevent rust. I did both for my 9-5 wagon. what other car has the SAAB night panel!

    • @laurat1129
      @laurat1129 9 месяцев назад

      As for "undercoating", I assume you mean not rust-proofing but prevention. Nowadays, fluid film or similar is the only way to go.
      And as for car covers, my 9-3 sat for three years in SoCal, but I'm really glad I didn't put something over it, same here now that I'm back in NE. Sure, it can get damaged or dinged in other ways, though these are minor compared to what I've seen. A few mos. ago at a Saab show, I met someone w/a lovely merlot red 9-3 cv, but the clearcoat on his hood appeared to be peeling off and the paint faded b/c of a cover. The way I understand this: While it would seem to protect from the elements, it actually traps moisture underneath. Fortunately, a good detailer or body paintshop can fix this.
      Anyway, just my 2cents, though if you know of other products, pls share.

    Thanks Seth! I also have 1999 9-3 convertible & 1999 9-5 wagon🤷🏼‍♀️ they smell like old leather bound books😂…. Anyway, your review has helped me for sure! I’ll look through your videos and see if you got into how you worked on the air conditioning in the 9-5… here’ what happened…the AC was working fine… I needed a tire repair… When I got the vehicle back, I started it,the fan was blasting… And unfortunately, the air hasn’t worked since… Is it as easy as buttons got pushed, which has enabled the AC 🤷🏼‍♀️…😔anyway….Any light you can shed would be very helpful!
    Glad to have found the video. I am a subscriber now! Thanks again.

      I’m hooked on SAAB… a newcomer to these magical vehicles …. 600ish miles to a tank… What?!? & SO much more🏁…WOW !! Drove the convertible through 800 miles of the nastiest, intense snow/ice storm I’ve ever been in last winter… I was stuck to the road & amazed😳 After that trip, I immediately started looking for a wagon & found one … had to throw a few bucks at it,it was well taken of … Fortunately, there’s this ✨mechanic 💫that really cares about SAAB’s, they (The SwedishPrincess&Prince😂) & I are in good hands… So, tinted the windows,now able to sleep in it while adventuring🤷🏼‍♀️! I took a chance on the wagon, had 203,000 miles … just got home after a 3000 mile trip… about to hit 210,000 on the Prince… ✨The Princess is a jaw dropper 🤷🏼‍♀️how did that end up in my lap!?! Bought with 116,000 now 123,000 … looking to add one more to the fleet🤞🏻… it’s a SAAB thing… I now understand this!

      @@katekaniff5987 Yes, I've enjoyed quite a few roadtrips in my '99 9-3cv, up & down the CA coast (LA to SF and back), driving all around SoCal. Then when it was almost 18 y.o. and had only -75-80k mi, I drove it across the USA (LA to NY and Boston). After sitting for three years and two weeks of prep, it made that trip, no prob.
      Yet since then, it's had more work here to get it past the 100k mark into its second life. Now at only 115k and nearing 25 y.o., it's almost better than new. While I'd like to drive it less in winter just to preserve it, I don't ever want to leave it sitting for long again. It's proven so reliable, I don't worry too much about it. The best mileage I can average, though, is 25-30mpg. So by "600", I'm guessing you mean km?

      @@laurat1129 I thought something was wrong with the SID on the 9-5 wagon, it read 600 with a topped off tank😳… it’s a manual with a 15 gallon tank… the 9-3, automatic,has a 13.6 gal, the most I’ve seen on the SID is 460ish miles. Thought it was unbelievable… In fact, I didn’t believe it ! Coming from a Big Ol’ eight cylinder truck(guzzler)… Thought about slapping a hitch on the 9-5🤔… I’ll just use the truck for that stuff😉
      Comfort is King while adventuring around in 👑The Swedish Princess&Prince!✨🏁🏎️🚙😂 Saab ON & on & on….🤞🏻

    Hah! I just bought a 1999 SAAB 9-5 2.3t SE wagon in Scarabe Green Metallic. Unfortunately no beige interior but it's the grey with wooden dash and black leather so I won't complain! These early OG 98-02 are really something else. Wondering how your SID/Radio/ACC buttons are so fresh and clean? They all tend to get sticky after many years.

    • @sethsaylor760
      @sethsaylor760  Год назад +1

      I clean them gently with rubbing alcohol. They will be black instead of dark grey after, but not sticky

    I have been enjoying some of your Saab related videos and was curious if the SID, radio and climate control units were original to this car? They are in such great shape and wondered if you got lucky or if you sourced them from another low mileage car because the display buttons from this era are usually pretty worn by now.

    • @sethsaylor760
      @sethsaylor760  11 месяцев назад

      I cleaned them to remove the "sticky button' problem. And I had to replace the ribbon in the SID. But otherwise, its all original!
