I wouldn't mind you doing a super long video one day especially in genres like these. 80s Synth funk just has so much depth and feel to me, and is so easy to update and experiment with today.
@@ElianaDAngelo but where did you learn all of this? I have some interesting musical ideas but i unfortunately dont know a whole lot of sound selection, chords, etc used in funk
I really like how you play a clip of the song you're working on before even getting to the discussion. It's nice to have that idea of what you're working towards with each element discussed, going forward.
This was amazing! As producer looking to get into making funk, this breakdown into detail was so welcome, and as amazing as funk and disco is, it's so rare to find good stuff on the internet about it. Thanks for making it!
This is some A-list stuff here. This is the sort of complete tutorial for this style I've been looking for, something in the style of Dabeull. You fucking rock! The song in the background puts the stank right on my face.
2:51 So ingeniously but absolutely and wonderfully formulated! I had to laugh like that. That's exactly how it is, luckily I haven't got used to it. You're great, keep it up and a really nice video.
Coldest funk tutorial in the game. These other videos just don't do it like this. The song hits and the quick but insightful/helpful explanations make it cake to follow along. Thank you, keep making more of these!!
Wow I cant believe I found this gem of a channel. Been looking for some really in depth, intuitive explanations as to ‘why’ these songs sound the way they do rather than an endless trove of “here’s a beat I made in an hour that kind of falls into *insert genre*” This song wasn’t made, it was COMPOSED. Much respect to your craft.
I really dig this kind of content. The content, audio/video quality, and editing are clear and to the point and I really appreciate the lack of clickbaity/youtuber-crap and the sincerity of it all. I'd love content that goes more in depth to the music theroy or producing side of it, and I'm also interested in your take on DnB, though this is also great.
This is definitely helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and really go in depth explaining the mechanics of the 80´s Funk & Boogie🙏
my god, that first preview already made me jump around in excitement. These are such good findings thank you so much for these really informative videos ily
Im really into funk disco songs like and the beat goes on, no parking on the dance floor and play that funky music are huge inspirations to me, really appreciated your video, very in depth breakdown not that shallow tutorials we see out here
i dig ur musical preference. damn near every musical genre is a decendant of funk. really great material. please continue this series. you'd be surprised how many peers and audience members appreciate this.
I wanna say I loved the video. Concise and to the point! I saw the notes on your shirt and thought "Wait. What does her shirt say" all I had to do is look at the first note and you got me. I swear the lick is the Jazz Rick Roll. You've got a new subscriber!
Hi. I’m 2 years late find your crash course in boogie funk. By far the most useful, while being super insightful. Can’t thank you enough for sharing the simplicity and joy of making this genre of music. Bravo. - O
This video is great and I actually would like to make a request on a concept you touched earlier here on the bass part and that's outlining a chord. It's something I honestly struggle with a lot. The idea of taking a chord progression and splitting up the notes to make a full song. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a video on you taking a simple chord progression and dissecting how you outline them with the different instruments if that makes sense.
Funk/soul artists/groups started using drum machines around 1982-83. "Friction by Hot Chocolate", "Foreplay by Kwick", and "Shine On Me by One Way" are some examples.
Sad that I grew up late 70s and all through the 80s and I never appreciated 80s Electro Funk Boogie style ..I love it even more now your tutorial on the style has lit a fire in me to produce this style...your doing an amazing job breaking it down, so up an coming producers like me can gain experience keep up the great work 🎹🎼
Thank you for this tutorial. Love how you manage to break it down to a level that is easy to grasp but still mention all the little details that make it more nuanced. :)
this is a treasure trove of information!! love the style from the music to the video and presentation, by far the best I found on this topic. #keeponkeepingon
Holy Shit, so glad I found your channel! Same interest in music as you and your videos are awesome. I've been taking some of your tips and applying them to my music. Keep up the good work!
I love boogie funk and the new artists that incorporate this style (tuxedo, Chromeo) . I've always been intimidated in trying to make this music with my lack of piano playing ability and music theory knowledge but seeing your videos has given me more confidence to start working on this. thank you for your content and your dog is awesome to ( always great having our furry little music mascots helping us out in the studio). had to give you a sub. thank you Eliana
I can definitely get down to some boogie (I'm from cali) but it's not a genre I focus on making. Let me just say I really admire the way you broke this down and I've definitely picked up some production gems from this video. Subbed. Looking forward to more content from you!
God I literally heard your shirt in my mind haha LOVE the tips and the video! Been deep diving on 80s lately and this was super helpful. You earned a new subscriber~~
One of the most underrated RUclips channels out there. Please keep up the awesome content! I suggest posting a 1 minute part of your tutorial of Instagram Reels or Tiktok, you can reach out to more audiences that way
This is so so helpful cause i love 80s electro funk because ima dancer and i want to making popping music thank you for being a great inspration. Became a fan and one of my fav composer/producer.
One of the more in depth videos I've seen on this topic, great explanations along the way and reasoning for the choices you've made! Would be nice to hear your take on the actual synths that you use as well, your sound is very authentic and I noticed some of your synths are from the Diva synth by U-he. Learning a lot from your videos, keep up the good work!
Thank you Eliano! I love your track, your teaching skills, droll deadpan humour ( was creased at the hi-hat copy and paste sfx ) , gorgeous wee canine pal and your enthusiasm and encouragement. Very much looking forward to exploring your superb content.
I'm vibing so hard to this video, these sounds, this aesthetic, the mangos I just bought, ahh I haven't fanboyed this hard since the last time I used the word fanboy!!
Staccatissimo. Ayyyyy Ohhhhhhhh Cannolis!

I would like to but unfortunately its hard to get people to commit to watching it. Really hard to keep good viewer retention. :(

Someone makes 80's boogie funk this well I have to subscribe. Great content
Thanks! As far as other producers you might really like people like XL Middleton, E. Live, Nickeee B, Jay Diggs, and Dabuell!
@@ElianaDAngelo Franc Moody for more funky grooves
Lol how does this chick not have more subs. Literally one of the only female producers on YT I've come across to date aside from BadSnacks
Yea I agree. Awesome channel. She gotta make more videos tho
The RUclips game is hard! I would suggest sharing to your friends, liking, and subbing! Comments help a lot too.
You should take a closer look. She's a trans producer. Not a female producer.
@@GothAtheist I'm going to let you figure out why that comment's a little weird on your own
@@GothAtheist what are you talking about?
I’ve played in bands during this era as a teen and you’re authentic in your production and choice of synths and drums. Great job! 👍
