Jazzology is my top pick for improving improvisation skills and mastering jazz harmony. This book is a must-have!
The four bars of rest for Colbert's response was a great touch lol
I should say I'm quite deceived the spoken part was not transcribed. As as non native speaker, I want to learn that.
This page intentionally left blank.
@@Jinaci1732 "I'm afraid that's all we have time for right now" is a joke. It means he knows he cannot match the other guy, so he is giving up by saying they don't have time. They transcribed it as a "rest" because Colbert was giving up
@@brendalg4 Is this satire? Because Gianni was obviously joking.
@@kennethellison9713 😂
Reminds me of something that a professional woodwind player once told me about his line of work: "You'll only ever need 10% of what you can do, but you won't get hired unless you've got the 100%."
Sounds like being a programmer.
@@kibe2134 lol wanted to say that to but it goes for anything now I think of
Actually that's the description of most jobs and school
Every time I'm watching a pop music concert, I see these musician playing basic lines and I'm thinking : "Yeah. Pretty sure they are insane musicians"
They just want to security if something goes wrong.
He been playing that same lick for 40 years.
So true :D
Staying at the top of one’s game for 40 years, and in some ways still improving, is pretty awesome. Have you heard his piano and percussion playing?
@@michaelfoxbrass this comment was written by Arturo
dont we all...
if it aint broke dont fix it
The trumpet player's face when he finished the second phrase was so epic like _"yeah, try repeating that, sucker!"_ 🤣
That “trumpet player” is Arturo Sandoval, one of the greatest trumpet players alive
@@yusukeurameshi9837 or dead, for that matter. One of the greatest to have ever lived.
@@WhoctorDo he’s very much alive??
@@franchescacruz3752 nah he dead
@@franchescacruz3752 he's a traitor to cuba, he's dead
I am so damn glad that the internet is finally giving Arturo his due. The man is a living legend
Got to see him live in 2014...incredible night
Man on Trumpet is Arturo Sandoval. One of the greatest trumpet players alive.
The other guy is Steven Colbert, a sad tool with no talent (except that one little lick of air trumpet he rehearsed all day for) Pathetic or not? Reply :)
@Thomas Freeman fixed it, thanks for the input
@@karlboud88 LOL. Imagine criticizing someone with more stage presence and charisma in his fingertips than you have in your entire being.
@@karlboud88 Your lack of ability to see Colbert's many talents is actually more of a reflection on you.
never heard of her
Man, the skill progression on this is all over the place. That second level boss is WAY too OP!
the man straight up shredded on the trumpet, consequently shredding the other's ego
>shredding the other guy's ego? He's a talk show host, not a trumpeter; he know's what he's up against!
I think Trumpet Man wins this round
Reminds me of a story my dad's shares, of this time when he was part of the house band (fiddler) for a buckdancing contest. When the fellow walked up for his go, my dad asked him how fast he wanted the tune to be kicked off. The fellow puffed up his just and declared "You can't get it too fast." To which my dad responded by turning back to the rest of the band and said "Hold onto your rears now" and kicked off Fire on the Mountain (a fiddle tune standard) at 150+ bpm or somewhere. Buckdancer couldn't but barely lift up his feet to shuffle, let alone dance in any form. After his turn was over, the fellow walked off stage silently. My dad says he saw the buckdancer where he hadn't moved from sitting silently on the steps up to the stage several tunes later with his head still in his hands. To all people, regardless of talent, arrogance is unbecoming and will likely bite you sooner rather than later! Colbert definitely was impressive, but his good-humored response in the face of being bested makes the whole clip all the better!
The fact that he got the first one wrong😭
But it wasn't fair. The trumpeter played a phrase of his own choosing which he could've practised. The other man had just heard it that once.
He left some stuff out but he got the gist of it.
@@rosiefay7283 apart from it being a bit, he still claimed that he could repeat anything thrown at him lol
Is there any way I can ask you some questions about transcription? I'm having trouble picking out complex chords.
Of course please message me on Instagram @oliverwolfe.jazz
I recomend the app Transcribe!
And eartraining
This guy activated his boss music.
I'm 67 years old and I still have my teeth am I able to learn how to play trumpet like this guy?
Arturo is one of the best in the world, so unlikely anybody who's a professional will ever sound like him. That being said, if you really dedicate yourself to an instrument, you can get really good really fast. Im in college for trumpet performance, currently, and I know people who didn't start practicing hard until their sophomore year of high school, and still got into Juilliard. 1-3 hours a day of practice is what I did, and there are few off days. If you want it, go get it man
@@joekeller8936 thanks for the encouragement!
not if you want to keep them teeth
I want to thank all of the respondents for their encouragement, and wisdom... curiosity makes me wonder if I can do it at my age I'm 67 years old, however I do want to keep the teeth that I have and I'll pass on the trumpet LOL! Maybe saxophone, since I already have an alto and a soprano and a tenor and a baritone... I just got to practice and be happy Within Myself...
@@antniomanso good point!
That wasn't expert difficulty...it was set to legend
Just realised this isn‘t george collier, good work Oliver!

Arturo the 🐐
Colbert should do an impression of Budd Dwyer
Go Arturo!!! 👏🎶🎵😁
Steven He: *EMOTIONAL DAMAGE*
The trumpeter is Arturo Sandoval. Arguably you could say that he followed in the footsteps of Dizzy Gillespie.
This kiss off the high c was funny 😂😂😂
i genuinley thought this was george collier
Do you mean George Collier?
@@aro4457 yes I do I wasn't I thinking when I posted that
His style of video + memey transcription is really picking up steam
Lolllll 😎 👍🏾 that's Arturo for you! Very funny!😀😆 I wonder who s idea 💡?? Colbert ✨👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
After the pickup note (f) he plays a D, not Eb.
The trumpet melted!!
I heard Clark Terry taught Doc Severinson a lot and should have gotten that job..
Now I’m young and I can play those notes
How do you even start transcribing this, nice job

If late night show hosts did this instead of rambling about politics it would make it watchable

If late night kept the bullshit politics out of it and stuck to stuff like this, it would be golden.
