My uncle wrote this with Chris. He died and I never got the story behind this or the other songs he wrote ie.“One Step Forward.” I just took it for granted that everyone could write music, be Snaffle Bit champions, and make their nephews feel like rock stars. At least I still have the music.
That’s right! I recently heard an interview with Chris on SiriusXM radio (interviewed by Dwight Yoakam) and he confirmed that “Rose” is his daughters middle name. The chorus “…ain’t no money in our hometown/and the mills have all shut down/ they say there’s work but it’s always the next town” refers to a time in the 80s when work was relatively scarce in California so a lot of people went to Texas to get jobs.
Here in Japan, I had barely had an opportunity to listen to country, but now I'm sure this is what it should be.

Roy Jones you can contact Chris about it but I think it has something to do with Chris ‘s and Connie’s daughter which middle name is rose.

Very, very nice. What a sweet sound these guys had. Anybody know who the other musicians were, by any chance? All sounded great.
