One correction. The Damara aren't Bantu and we don't speak a Bantu language. It's actually still unknown where we come from, our oral history says we migrated from the forests up north, my theory is that we were the natives of the Congo that were driven out during the very first wavea of Bantu migration from West Africa
Broer aren't damaras a mix of the bantus from up north and the namas and khoisan that were already in Namibia? Atleast that's the best assumption I can get

They actually are, if I do recall my 8th-grade history classes well, they integrated with the Nama people and adopted their language/ culture and lost their language and culture in the process. However, you will still see a slight difference in their dress code.
@@hadley7744 namas are the ones that lost their language. They even lost their last names that’s why you won’t find a Nama with a African last name. They use European last names. And Damaras are clearly not Bantu

Even though this is supposed to be a quick video about Namibia's history, and one cannot possibly summarise all of Namibia's history in 2 minutes, I'm still left quite disappointed. There's so much more to Namibia's history than the arrival of Europeans. The title should be "European History of Namibia"
Who knew intertribal conflicts can turn gruesome when guns are involved? Goes to show that the pistol is mightier than the bow. Next is the little Pacific island with surprisingly strong weightlifters… Nauru! 🇳🇷

I was born in Namibia and still live here. This is a great place for tourists sure (except that it's unsafe as Hell here. Bloody unsafe) if you live here though it's horrible. My God is it horrible. People I play games with in other parts of the world starting making jokes because we play a game called "who can escape Namibia first" no one wants to live here. Economy, trash. People, trash. 💀Yoh I've never seen such a an over exaggerated statement before. Accourding to the 2021 Global Peace Index Report, Namibia is ranked the 10th safest country in Africa and we are ranked 65th globally, just above Greece. I was born and raised here as well. You're speaking about our country as if it's our neighbour South Africa, who by the way is ranked 123rd , just below North America. I don't know what you've experienced but please do not deter people from our beautiful country because of it. It is not perfect and crime does happen but it's definitely not as horrible as you're making it seem.

Hello, Mr History. What historical sources do you use to make these videos?
Namibia sounds so exotic :-?
Great documentary - Didn’t know that Germany paid reparations and Namibia gained their independence in 1990.
Namibia didn’t accept the payment, they offered it for Nama / Herero genocide

The real gruesome ones were the colonisers who committed genocide and were the reason for their conflicts.
The intertribal conflicts were instigated by the colonizers, you know, "divide and conquer".
